    Great video mate , I didn't even know about any of these , I was quite the fool when I started to wear one at first , didn't check the seal or anything - albeit I wasn't doing anything too dangerous - just grinding up some herbs for a blend , but it seems without checking the seal and such I might as well not have worn the mask since I was breathing in the dust either way ! Keep up the good work mate.

    Is the stealth mask good for package dust? I have to work inside containers and it’s full of package dust, I got sick one time and got an asthma attack

    • @Alastair_Freebird
      @Alastair_Freebird  Год назад

      I think it would be yes but the important thing with any mask is to make sure it fits tight to your face so there aren’t gaps allowing the air and dust to get in without going through the filters

      The A, B, E and K denominations refer to the type of gaseous contaminants that respiratory filters are designed to protect the user against. To summarise:
      A (Brown) - organic vapours and gases with boiling points > 65°C
      B (Grey) - inorganic gases excluding carbon monoxide
      E (Yellow) - sulphur dioxide and acidic gases
      K (Green) - ammonia and organic ammonia derivatives
      Other vapour and gas filters are as follows:
      AX (Brown) - organic vapours and gases with boiling points < 65°C
      Hg-P3 - mercury
      NO-P3 - oxides of nitrogen
      CO - carbon monoxide
      P ratings identify a product’s protection against particles. P3 offers the highest level of protection.
      Whilst an AX filter would be more applicable to some products - such as WCP-2 and SKD-S2, as these also contain particulate materials - the A2P3 and ABEK P3 filters offer the best compromise as a combined gas/particle filter.
      Note that airborne liquids in the form of fine sprays and mists require a particle filter. However, particle filters do not protect against gas or vapour so, when using aerosols or creating an aerosol mist, a combined gas/particle filter, such as A2P3 or ABEK-P3 is recommended.

    Canny.
    Interesting that some of the issues I've had as a first impression on the trend stealth are all worse on the JSP mask.
    Good to know!
    ...I've a close beard and the trend mask gets a canny seal.

    Good review Alistair. What masks do you use when painting. I took your advise and got in touch with Movac with a view to ordering some Sayerlack.

    • @Alastair_Freebird
      @Alastair_Freebird  5 лет назад

      Hi John, let me know how you find the Sayerlack paint, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I got a half mask for Brady for spraying, from the Movac range but pretty similar to the JSP half mask, it just seemed appropriate to get one approved by the spray supplier! The truth is I do very little spraying myself, although I will have an opportunity to brush up on it when Brady goes away for a couple of weeks in June!

    Mo for mohamad ..is it true they need 3bhours a day to pray many times ?? How do you find that works with a mohamad employee

    • @Alastair_Freebird
      @Alastair_Freebird  3 месяца назад

      Hi David yes observant Muslims do have the religious obligation to pray 5 times a day, but when you consider that it is done at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and late evening, then it doesn’t necessarily have to disrupt the work day much at all: if noon coincides with lunch break, and mid afternoon could even be just after the end of an 8 hour working day if the work day begins early. I think Mo probably wasn’t that strict about things, since I honestly can’t remember the subject even coming up with him and he certainly wasn’t getting a prayer mat out at lunch times or anything.

    Good video, I also use that trend one and I have a pumped one similar to the one you had but think mines branded evolution. Although they are the best ones I've worn so far I still hate them!! A couple months back I briefly looked into professional pumped masks where the pump clips onto your belt and pipes air up to your head! I haven't fully ruled one out but it went on the back boiler when I realised it was approx €1500 and I might still hate wearing it! Plus I don't think I could wear it when I go fitting as customers would be doing all sorts of wondering! I would be interested to hear your thoughts are if you've ever seen them? On a side note would you have any interest in sharing a copy of your ts&cs template with me? I really need to do one up and could do with some inspiration!! (i do very similar work to you.) As always keep up the great videos!! Thanks, Jack.

      @@Alastair_Freebird thanks a mill will pop you an email shortly! As for the masks they make many versions. I'd be using it for spraying too but at that price you wouldn't ever want to take it off. I presume it's as good as you can get in terms of your health and of course no issue with sealing to your face as its pushing air out continuously. But I'm still concerned about comfort! In the warmer weather it'll b great as there's nothing worse than being hot and sweaty while trying to wear a mask! Also the fact it's full face or atleast that's an option you'll not only get protection from bigger particles but I'm also thinking that spraying and fine dust in general can't be good for your eyes! A lot to think about but health is the most important thing I guess. That said it's a lot of money for me or anyone to spend on a mask that understandably you can't test or try on before purchasing!

    Thanks for covering this, protection is a neglected subject on a lot of RUclips woodworking channels. They often advise wearing a mask or other gear but don't say anything about how to find the good gear. I had an acquaintance at one time who worked for the Health and Safety Executive, and he used to use that phrase; "A mask is cheaper than a new pair of lungs."
