Just got one of these for airbrushing, really well made product, not too uncomfortable to use and its nice to be able to know that it's got a good seal. Id recommend this over disposable ones any day
Thanks for this video Roger, I thought all the respirators were the same and it's prompted me to pop into screwfix and buy this product. Used it all day today, it's fantastic.
+Dave North That is really good to know and it makes it all worthwhile for me. I was also using mine today cutting the dreaded Celotex board and that used to leave me coughing for ages.
I was due a new dust mask and remembered this video so I picked one of these up on 21% discount in Screwfix today. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
Nice. I have a 3M mask (£15 from Amazon) and accidentally discovered a similar feature. You can put your hand over the ventilator to completely stop incoming air. I'll be more judicious in my use of this from now on!
Sorry but you shouldn't be pulling the mask off over your hair as you might contaminate it with dust in your hair!! secondly what your doing with the filters is a fit check which you carry out with all masks !! its just that particular filter is pressed in. Finally if you merely adjust the mask by wobbling it on your face until it seals then its unreliable as any movement could of the mask could compromise the seal . Get a Fit test.
Thanks for making this video man. You obviously really care. I do tend to just shrug off wearing a mask but your right. I will make it a habit to wear them. Also what is your opinion of the Trend Airshield Pro?
+David Plüshy Thanks David. I have developed an intolerance to dust now after years of breathing in crap so it is distressing to see guys using angle grinders and breathing in all that silica. The Airshield pro is great for woodwork, especially MDF, but I wouldn't want to walk around on site with it all day. JSP also has a similar forced air mask which has a full face visor. I wear it when I am clearing insulation out of lofts ready for a loft conversion but it is heavy. The good thing is that it stops your eyes itching from the Rockwool fibres.
Great stuff, we all put health and safety on the back burner and suffer later on in life. It's far easier to leave PPE as it can be a right pain when your trying to do a job. When I was younger, I never used to wear knee pads now I would not even think about doing a job without it. Hopefully things like this will make people think twice. Most sites will through you out now so that's a good start. How much are the cartridges?
+Zed Man The cartridges are a quid each in Screwfix. As for the knee pads we are looking into that for the future with a few interviews. I know a plumber who can't walk up the stairs any more. He is looking for another job.
Nice informative video Roger. I upgraded most of power tools to Festool using there Ctl26 extractor in combination to great effect will be purchasing one of these as well tho. £22.99 from screwfix.
+alan woolstenholmes That Festool dust extractor is a reason to own those tools. It took a while for others to come up with a similar product. Have a look at masks direct or something similar they have the Force 8 for around £15.00 which is way cheaper than I thought. We wanted to post that up but couldn't get the website onto our video.
Having problems with air escaping from top of nose on exhaling! Any solutions offered? keep adjusting the straps and checking til satisfied, but any wisdom would be gratefully accepted as Diabetic and having to use the Mask to shop etc.
Hi Peter Personally I would not use this mask as a Covid mask. The Stealth mask from Trend is a little more streamlined. That said this JSP Force 8 mask should give you a good fit if you buy the right size. skill-builder.uk/2455-2#:~:text=To%20help%20you%20select%20the%20correct%20mask%20for,Half-Mask%20to%20help%20create%20the%20best%20face%20fit.
Thanks for this video, ordered mine for protection from particulates and solvents when airbrushing indoors. I have an extractor fan ( a very loud one at that ) but you know it's not working enough when you can still smell the solvents and are getting chest pains.
Yeah, it made it more tricky to track down the correct mask/filters. As you see deals on ebay for 3M masks going cheap, but the reason they are often cheap is that they only have the most basic particulate filters. Which if it's all you need fantastic! But if you need more protection the price jumps up quite a bit. However in this case buying a Force 8 as a set with P3 filters set me up well :)

I might buy a second one at that price. It is good to have one in the van and one in the workshop. No vat on safety gear I believe.
Just ordered from Screwfix based on your review.

+Mat Smith Mat your carrying out a Fit check the JSP mask filter is a copy of that 3M filter and a more robust mask
Just bought one of theses after watching your vid, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Thanks Joe breathe easy.
Can't put a price on your health, brilliant product. Any idea how to clean the inside after use?

Nah. Too bulky, I used to get these, but I like the low profile half masks much more! Same level of filtration but more compact.
Why are these not VAT free ffs !!!
