the creeper is so power full that it blows up the whole computer
Heya Linus, that current spike issue is actually very very easy to fix. A 24v capacitor (you always leave tolerance headroom) across the 12v rail that gate controller occupies will effectively increase the available "spike cushion" for those types of load, which will keep the power supply from panicking when the gate switch is actuated!

Those relay latches have a back current which might kill entire system. Just add a diode in reverse bias accross the power line of relay it will fix it.
At this point they've already shipped it. Let's just hope that boost converter will sacrifice itself and save the power supply if the spike does turn out to be too much.

Yeah, but that would mean even more work. More wires, mounts, and just another component that can fail (and needs to be plugged in to AC power separately.

Quick fix: add a capacitor to the head mechanism so it doesnt current spike

If he really connected the boost converter after the relay, the capacitors are the problem. The relay is now switching in the empty input caps from the converter that will draw a huge current spike. The converter should be before the relay.
@@smak201 Good point that's what I was thinking as well. I would normally worry a bit about the small continuous current draw of the boost converter but seeing as it's a freakin' gaming PC I don't think it'll make much of a difference XD
@@smak201 You are correct, the boost converter should be feeded with live power from the moment, the computer is turned on. Like any supply, it needs a short moment to regulate the output.
But I don't think it will matter much for the power it draws, the moment it gets power. The solenoid or whatever they used, will draw far more current.

I am lost why they needed to use this memory there are many 64gb ddr4 kits in 2 dimms right now. Maybe when that memory came out it was not an option I wounder if Linus and co were sent the sticks at launch and never used them and trying to now?
