This was literally the first thing that came to mind when he pointed out the crack. Also, i wish they had etched LTT in the plate under the stone, just in case it would have been visible.. Or maybe a watermark style of many small etchings all over the back plate since it isn't the same color/finish. GJ all
As difficult it might have been to make work, imagine if the 'diamond' part was the actual power button.
Yea that would've been way cooler. All you need is a tiny spring with a switch button inside it. Then when you push the button, the spring compresses and the diamond hits the switch.
@@Exachad Then the diamond light up

That would have been pretty cool

You guys should turn the Gold Play button into the external GPU housing. That way you can have the two buttons on either side of a monitor.

Didn't they had to scan a play button by professionals?
@@agnieszkarajder2821 😅
Whenever another one of his channels (Techquickie, Short Circuit, etc.) reaches 10mil subs, the play button should be turned into an external GPU container to work in tandem with this one.
The only issue I see is that the depth of the play button wouldn’t allow for a higher power gpu. Maybe if you had the pcb in the button and a external rad with quick disconnects it would work.

3D scanning mirror finished or high gloss if easy enough... just spray it with white tinted zinc oxide primer. Looks like a lightish, matt, grey finish.
Orange works well too.
Black and red kind of suck unless you're scanning on a controlled ambient lighting rig.
I don't know why i enjoyed this so much. They're just unintentionally effortlessly funny together.
Should have found a way to make the “diamond” the power button
was my first thought, ohh diamond power button coool.
It would be sick until someone touches the diamond on your sweet looking Diamond Play Button PC and accidentally turns it off because they didn't realize it was a button.
Yep. That was what i was looking for.
Make the diamond play BUTTON the power BUTTON.
Heck, that would also have been one good excuse of using some RGB-light there (show temps as color for example)
@@FlergerBergitydersh Not an issue since you can configure that within Windows. I usually have mine set to hibernate (and the Luna key on keyboards for standby), but it's possible to set it to "do nothing". Of course, you can still turn off the system by holding it for 4+ seconds then...
I wouldn't expect anything less.
HI
exactly!😂
i expected more why say its a gaming pc when they don’t benchmark games on it.
I loved the video but I think it would be cool with the play button if you get a case and include the play button in it
Who else but linus
Absolutely amazing. Not only are you one of the relatively few who can say they got a 10 mil diamond play button, but you're the only one who can say you've got a PC that uses it as a case. Amazing work and I can't wait to see you reach 100M
Alex’s infamous line: “I just realized something”
For 3D scanning reflective/clear objects such as chrome/glass etc, we use a removable matting spray (available from Aesub or Helling3D) - it covers the entire item in a removable matte film that is water soluble and can simply be rinsed off afterwards :)
Source: I'm a CGI Generalist who uses 3D scanners in my workflow
Wow, I never expected that
We also use this in jewelery and dental quite a bit
An alternative way would be the "traditional" method, using a touch sensor to scan the surface. For those who haven't seen it, it's some sort of "finger" with a ball at the end that moves and detects when it touches a surface.
Aah I was wondering if there was a way to spray it and clean it off, handy to know!

Hello there
You can buy it from me for 50 bucks
Woah
Actually thumbs up to Linus who actually risked his play button for making content out of it 👍
He could have it ground down and remelted. Like with the Gold Game Controller. Which I personally think was an expensive test in case they needed a fall back for this project.
with any play buttons you can buy more of them (up to 10) off youtube
@@mikkelbreiler8916it wouldn't be worth much more than scrap metal, even if it did have other minerals. On the controller Gold is worth $1700 per oz. so if it had a couple oz's they could recoup a small fraction of its cost, but would be hard for them to recoup that on one video. (though they might do another or two).
RUclips will send you a replacement if something happens to it but you gotta pay for it. But I hear they're really expensive.
Tip from someone who constantly has to scan reflective and see-through surfaces: mix plaster powder and rubbing alcohol, spread it in a very thin layer on the surface you want to scan. Wait for it to dry (or use a heat gun). Now you have a white, non-reflective surface which you can rinse off with plain water
An actual good idea Bc the stuff hey make the play buttons out conducts heat well. (It cools faster)

@@theintunity k but what about mkbhd tho
Writers: Yeah. That sounds good.
You do realize that new hardware and new things come to make vids on
Scanning reflective materials like that is really quite simple, you just coat the surface with a paint/dye that won't reflect before you scan it then use a solvent to remove the paint/dye afterwards
If that's not an option then make a mold of the item, use the mold to make a cast out of non-reflective material and 3D scan the cast
congrats on 10m subs! also this is an insane build lol, nice work!
You’re telling me you did not turn the crystal Play logo into the start button?! WHAT
That's what I was also expecting as well.
That’s for the upgrade in a couple years. XD
My first thought - when I saw their approach... i mean, a button on a wire is what i'm doing to my custom pc right now, that's too shabby
tbh before they made a hole for the start button I was thinking "well the only logical place for start button is crystal play logo on top, that's a no brainer"

they missed a MASSIVE opportunity for making that diamond the power button
yeah but i'd imagine that would pretty hard to implement seeing as tight-packed as it is
They surely already have thought about that however as others said, it will be hard considering it's tight and small

it will be hard as the jewel should not be having that rgb if it is a button in case

Definitely the coolest play button video I have ever seen.
"Can you please just appreciate that I did a good job and I probably don't need it?"
I felt that
Why does this feel like getting a good grade in high school?
For Linus and anyone else that might be wondering, how you 3D scan something reflective, such as polished metal, the scanners use a bunch of little needles that measure dimensions. We have some at my current workplace. Keyence is the brand, though I warn you, they're not cheap haha. That's why the scan looks a little rough, as you can only fit so many needles next to each other. It's similar to those toys you used to find in stores that you could place your hand in and the pins made the shape of your hand. Take a lot of depth measurements close together and integrate basically and then you have a 3D model.
Can also be done using sprays such as graphite and talc, and then scanning with a laser scanner and cleaned after using an ultrasonic cleaner. It is made to sound way more complicated in this video then it really is. I have scanned many, much more complex items, which are glass with a phone app and powder technique. Specs are usually within 0.5% of the actual object and for a project such as this it would do just fine, but bravo to LTT team for the 10 million subs and for putting this diamond play button to good use. Would have just sat collecting dust otherwise.
