I honestly enjoyed this movie. One thing in particular was that there was no twist villains or villains in general. All that this film needed was moral conflicts and dilemmas that are relevant to the story it was trying to tell and it made for some well executed drama that was needed for the lesson the film was trying to teach. It was surprisingly profound and rich with layer upon layer of deep themes centering around the two sided coin that is the internet and who gets affected by it's darker side.

Jeremy's just one of those people that recognise that they're not critics... you have the cynical view of professional critics and then you have Jeremy just being genuinely excited about this movie... keep it up man, this is what keeps this channel as one of my faves!
I remember critics not liking the movie, Rock of Ages, as much, but, Jeremy was loving on it and it made me super happy because I myself loved the movie when I saw it in theaters and own it on DVD. :)
I don't know man Jeremy's been pretty cynical and honestly kind of a whiner recently, it's actually refreshing to hear him be enthusiastic and excited again. That's why I watched him until recently.
That feeling when you remember Jeremy giving Wreck-It Ralph 1 an Awesometacular back in 2012 and you got so excited..... I’ve been with this boi for a long time.
Honestly, I didn't like the ending. Don't get me wrong, it's sad but it felt kind of out of place. So what about Venellope's game? Aren't the players gonna wonder where Venellope is? Sugar Rush wouldn't be the same without the character that's on the side of the console and what makes the game. I also didn't like how they changed Ralph's character. He went from being serious and emotional into a funny, silly and irresponsible character. The movie was ok. I give it a C+. I love the crossovers with the Disney characters, but everything else was meh.
After watching it yesterday, I couldn't help but see a lot of parallels and metaphors of stuff I went through in my personal life in this movie. Stuff I've had to deal with personally and while I'm a huge Disney fangirl at heart, the events that happened between some characters, Ralph, Vanellope...wow...those hit home real hard. Amazing movie.
I just saw this recently and I have to say, while it was entertaining, it was way inferior to the original. My problem with this sequel is how it kind of contradicts the original's premise where "you have to stick to the program". I mean Vanellope can leave her game but Ralph can't? I understand that it's central theme is growth and letting go, but the writers I'm sure could've found a way to address that without junking their mythology.
I shared those exact concerns when I saw the trailers, I'm really happy to hear that they turned out to be unfounded. I will see this movie because of this review.
Hey, Jeremy. I love your stuff, and as a Ralph super-fan I got a chance to catch an early screening and review it on my YT channel. And I DID live it as much as you did! 😁 So you're not alone, my friend.
I thought Ralph Breaks the Internet was awful. The way the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope is portrayed can come across unsettling at times. I get the whole message of Ralph being clingy but it's a big man clinging to a little child. This message would've better suited a different movie. Ralph is a flanderized version of himself. His clumsiness and stupidity is exaggerated. Instead of video game references, we get internet references, but rarely ever anything clever or interesting. Most of the characters from the previous installment have much less screen time than they already had, and very few interesting characters appear to take their place. The new characters are mostly flat. The movie felt empty. Overall, I don't think it was the sequel that Wreck it Ralph needed or deserved. It felt like a cheap cash grab.
Idk about a cash grab but I thought the move was just meh. Also felt the relationship was a little weird and uncomfortable. One of the rare times I disagree with Jeremy.
@@Stew91 With all the product placement in this movie, it probably payed for itself. Not to mention riding off of the success of the previous movie with much less effort put in.
@@Stew91 That's subjective. It did feel forced to me in some places. And even if it didn't, that doesn't make me see the movie as any less of a cash grab.
I am very emotional about this movie, I described it as...giving the adult me the experience I should had with monsters inc but now I have the brain to appreciate the message, I give this movie a literal 10/10, it couldn't be better.
A while back, I started not watching trailers about a month before a movie I wanted to see opened. I've gone as far not watching any trailers for some movies that I just knew I was going to see. It has enhanced my experience so much. I don't even watch your reviews before unless I'm just unsure about it still. That being said, love your reviews, even after seeing the movie.
After the first trailer I honestly didn't care to see it, it just looked like another Disney self congratulatory circle jerk cash grab. It's good to know that that's only there for a minute and it doesn't distract from the story. Ok, I'll go see this.
I actually really enjoyed this movie. Loved the references and had a surprisingly important message. I remember this being something my best friend and I having to learn in middle school. It was a pivotal reason why we are still best friends...22 years going strong
Just got back from seeing it, it was awesome! When Ralph and Vanellope separated I almost cried. I was happy to see sonic and Ralph interacting for some reason lol. And the soundtrack is great!
You are the only movie review channel/videos I watch.the other guy that keeps popping in my recommended has to long of a video lol so I haven’t given him a chance but I don’t want to.your the only one for me😍😂
Kinda weird seeing that Ralph looks so unconcerned when he broke Vanellope's game. Like seriously? He learned nothing about the horror of getting plugged out from the first movie? Then, he broke another game because he doesn't like her hanging out with other character. He is getting dumber after 6 years time gap.
I just had a feeling that you would to that fake out! I just can't seem to remember what movie you did it for prior, but hearing how you were discussing this film it made me remember that review.
What I've seen in your reviews, normally when it comes to comedy your reviews are terrible, but when it comes to cartoons or family type movies, you're normally dead-on. So I have faith you are right here. I am now definitely looking forward to it, gonna totally watch it now this weekend after the massive food feast. :)
1:09 damn, you left me hanging with suspense for a bit there, i NEEDED ralph to be good for my kids sake. The 1st one had that AWESOME song that helped sell the whole experience and gave people the "feels",i hoped this one followed suit. i liked your reference of disney AS hydra, captain america 2 is going take on a whole new meaning AND disney allowed it :)
I get it's a kids movie but PLEASE! Am I the only one who wants to see dark and brutally honest or dark fantasy version of all these kids movies. Like Ralph finds the Dark Web etc.
The internet was way better here than in the emoji movie the emoji movie made obvious jokes about the internet (trolls spam youtube the dark net etc) but this was very creative and I love the Disney Easter eggs
I thought it was such a deep and relevant message for kids growing up. “There’s no rule that says best friends have to have the same dream.” And that you can be happy for one another.
ehhhhhh IDK man I don't think it's Awesometacular at all. Honestly I was disappointed! While the references were entertaining most of them didn't really mean anything like Ready Player One for example. The story was good but I think it dragged on and being a Disney movie it was very predictable. I also think the virus sequence lasted too long and honestly I almost fell asleep towards the end of it. I'm not saying the movie is bad, I just didn't find it particularly funny! That's not me being a grumpy asshole I suppose my sense of humour doesn't match the jokes told in this movie.
The mid credit scene with kid talking about part of the trailer not being in the movie...then they played that part of the trailer everyone was talking about that wasn't in the movie....had me rolling and thinking they had plans to set that up the whole time hahaha
They really should have gone with MMOs or online games. Instead: The Emoji movie route. Basing most of it around making meme-videos for youtube. Wooooow, no. While Vanellope turns Turbo, but suddenly she can do it while that's a big no in the first one. All around terrible movie. It and Incredibles 2 were such disappointments.
No way! Eboy is! I mean, he is Shermy from Adventure Time/Dantdm. So I guess he's part RUclipsr!? THAT EXPLAINS WHY EBOY TELEPORTS TO BUZZTUBE ALMOST EVERYTIME IN THE MOVIE!!! ...I mean.... Can't they both be good characters?
I only watch more trailers if the movie still has not convinced me to watch it. If I do not just stay in the same first and do not look for others not to take spoiler. Trailers these days are so poorly made
I had a problem with the character development. Only Ralph develops to be a better friend and not s clingy and controlling one. Venellope however didn’t seem to develop. Yes she wanted something new and different however her intentions never change. She wants to abandon her game and enter an entire new world and live there. Idk. The resolution felt dissatisfying to me. It felt like somethings was missing.
I didn't even recognize the fact that Ralph's a big man and veneloppe's a little girl. I really focused on their relationship, and I saw it as two best friends. Because I already get the idea of friends having to change, the moral lesson wasn't that much of a revelation. But I was invested into their bonds and just like the characters, I felt bittersweet about having to let go which really got to me
Okay this is the second review for this movie that I watched and neither mentioned a villain which has me believing there isn't one which also means this is a conflict driven story that doesn't rely on a plot twist villain which is just..... thank you! I'm seeing it tomorrow, no one pop my hopeful bubble of this being the case!
There's just one thing I didn't like about this movie. *spoilers* The fact how Ralph turns 180 degree after he finds out Penelope wants to stay in the internet. He assume Penelope was brainwash & wanted to get a virus to destroy the game. Seriously like WTF?! Freaking lazy writing!
1. She had been his only friend for 6 years, hence his insecurity. 2. He constantly asked if the virus was only gonna slow the cars down. He didn’t want to destroy the game, just wanted to make it boring enough for her to decide to go back with him
Still disappointed they didn’t call it “Ralph wrecks the internet”

daniel white the movie wasn’t very good
Yes! I wanted this to be good :)
It wasn’t that good tho. Probably a 5/10
How many movies got awesometacular this year?
Yo, I noticed in a few videos of yours you'll be ready funny and sarcastic, but then let the haters know you were joking. I wouldn't worry about that, my guy, your fans enjoy your channel and the sarcasm is one of the many great parts of your channel. Keep doing what you're doing, man. 👊
JJ you're the best reviewer on RUclips. Next year will be 10 years of movies reviews for you. You have to do a special video for that.
Do you know what a cash grab is?
Idk about a cash grab but I thought the move was just meh. Also felt the relationship was a little weird and uncomfortable. One of the rare times I disagree with Jeremy.
@@Stew91 With all the product placement in this movie, it probably payed for itself. Not to mention riding off of the success of the previous movie with much less effort put in.
@@ThatBunniBoi Except the product placement rarely feels forced
@@Stew91 That's subjective. It did feel forced to me in some places. And even if it didn't, that doesn't make me see the movie as any less of a cash grab.
I am very emotional about this movie, I described it as...giving the adult me the experience I should had with monsters inc but now I have the brain to appreciate the message, I give this movie a literal 10/10, it couldn't be better.
Ok just saw the movie Ralph brakes the Internet it kinda reminds me of that movie called the emoji movie
Albino Cyclopse I got the opposite from the trailers. I found the princess thing to seem pretty self deprecating for Disney actually.
Same, I thought it would be mediocre, but I was surprised that it wasnt
Disney: Okay so let's take the emoji movie.
*"I CAN FIX IT!"*
0:00 Me at the beginning of every movie I watch in theaters
I actually really enjoyed this movie. Loved the references and had a surprisingly important message. I remember this being something my best friend and I having to learn in middle school. It was a pivotal reason why we are still best friends...22 years going strong
Saw this movie with my friend. It was so awful, and we laughed and we laughed. What an embarassing film.
Jeremy you got me here....
I occasionally stream forward to see what rating you gave the movie first just to get it outta the way...
lesson learned
I though that Ralph and Vanellope’s personalities in this movie and went too far by making them both frankly annoying.
Just got back from seeing it, it was awesome! When Ralph and Vanellope separated I almost cried. I was happy to see sonic and Ralph interacting for some reason lol. And the soundtrack is great!
I don’t get the hate for this movie I liked it as well. Wouldn’t say Awesometacular but definitely a good time no alcohol required
Loves the rating at the end lol. And for the movie, I never thought that Disney's princesses would be hot 😂😂😂. Awesometacular vid!
this Movie is Awesometacular and I would buy it on Blu-Ray
I just had a feeling that you would to that fake out!
I just can't seem to remember what movie you did it for prior, but hearing how you were discussing this film it made me remember that review.
The first film in the DisneyCU.
I'm just gonna say that Bob Ross reference made me chuck out loud. Perfectly executed.
is this the first awesometacular movie in 2018?
Pretty sure he gave it to A Star Is Born as well
What about Infinity War?
Mission Impossible Fallout.
Sony: We Can Make A Movie Based On Phones And The Internet!
Disney: Hold My Beer
1:09 damn, you left me hanging with suspense for a bit there, i NEEDED ralph to be good for my kids sake. The 1st one had that AWESOME song that helped sell the whole experience and gave people the "feels",i hoped this one followed suit. i liked your reference of disney AS hydra, captain america 2 is going take on a whole new meaning AND disney allowed it :)
I get it's a kids movie but PLEASE! Am I the only one who wants to see dark and brutally honest or dark fantasy version of all these kids movies.
Like Ralph finds the Dark Web etc.
If you haven't seen the movie yet... well, I guess your wish came true?
@@JSeedProductions nah not really. I mean like rated R type shit
I haven't seen your reviews in awhile. Realest youtuber there is and still going strong. im ashamed of myself
0:00 My thoughts for when Detective Pikachu comes out in the Summer
Ikr..
This review makes me so happy to hear. You had exactly all the same worries that I did about this movie and I'm so glad to hear that it's good.
Thank you for bring consistent content unlike Chris stuckman
The internet was way better here than in the emoji movie the emoji movie made obvious jokes about the internet (trolls spam youtube the dark net etc) but this was very creative and I love the Disney Easter eggs
The first Wreck it Ralph was released 6 years ago.
The first (theatrical) sequel to an animated Disney movie since "The Rescuers Down Under" and "Winnie the Pooh"!
And peter pan 2...
futurama did it first
They got one of the leads from Futurama to do the first one.
Futurama did it, Futurama did it.
BUT IT WASN'T FOR ME
I'm so relieved to hear it wasn't a let down, I too was afraid from seeing the trailers.
Way to end the year Disney and pixar👊
The mid credit scene with kid talking about part of the trailer not being in the movie...then they played that part of the trailer everyone was talking about that wasn't in the movie....had me rolling and thinking they had plans to set that up the whole time hahaha
They really should have gone with MMOs or online games. Instead: The Emoji movie route. Basing most of it around making meme-videos for youtube. Wooooow, no.
While Vanellope turns Turbo, but suddenly she can do it while that's a big no in the first one.
All around terrible movie. It and Incredibles 2 were such disappointments.
I like how you came into the movie not thinking much about it and came out loving it.
GORD IS BEST CHARACTER! ❤️❤️🦀
No way!
As soon as I saw the thumbnail on my timeline, the first few seconds of this review are EXACTLY what I was thinking, rofl!!!!!!
I only watch more trailers if the movie still has not convinced me to watch it. If I do not just stay in the same first and do not look for others not to take spoiler. Trailers these days are so poorly made
IVE BEEN THAT OPENING FOR THE LAST MONTH OF MY LIFE WAITING FOR THIS
I had a problem with the character development.
But I was invested into their bonds and just like the characters, I felt bittersweet about having to let go which really got to me
The Penelope character was so dreadful in the first movie I’m afraid to see this one.
What's the problem?
Okay this is the second review for this movie that I watched and neither mentioned a villain which has me believing there isn't one which also means this is a conflict driven story that doesn't rely on a plot twist villain which is just..... thank you! I'm seeing it tomorrow, no one pop my hopeful bubble of this being the case!
Came after watching it on Netflix 😂
I think you used that fake out in your dawn of the apes on horses review and it got me both times😂
There's just one thing I didn't like about this movie.
*spoilers*
The fact how Ralph turns 180 degree after he finds out Penelope wants to stay in the internet.
He assume Penelope was brainwash & wanted to get a virus to destroy the game.
Seriously like WTF?! Freaking lazy writing!
1. She had been his only friend for 6 years, hence his insecurity.
2. He constantly asked if the virus was only gonna slow the cars down. He didn’t want to destroy the game, just wanted to make it boring enough for her to decide to go back with him
I'll trust your review JJ was perplexed that Disney is just flexing thier IP's in the trailers.
