Dianne's voice is pure gold
I don't understand negative comments about Dianne's voice. When singers use their operatic vocals (which I love) -name Tarja here - they're accused of being one trick's ponies and bla bla bla. Dianne is using a non-operatic voice here and that's it. Don't people call that versatility? Even Floor Jansen is praised for her non-operatic vocals. You all complain for the sake of complaining. This band, Xandria makes superb music (They're the best symphonic metal band IMO).
I think the main flaw with the song isn't her singing, but the melodic line she sings. This is why I think Epica will always be the best, because they're song-writing is so superb and hits the perfect balance of catchiness and complexity.
Well, I actually don't like Epica so I won't talk about it. Still I don't find anything wrong with this song.. It is a ballad so I find the fact it is not that complex pretty normal.

I think it needs something more, because it began really cool, but then it went over the same structure over and over and over again till the end.
And...well, this is not a ballad, and...well, there's not much excuse for poor composition. But I hope the rest of the album is better.

Daniel Germán Cardozo LOL Thanks! Dianne is a hell of a singer so people should just shut up and keep their opinions to themselves. About Epica, they've never been my cup of tea. I only like a few songs and that's it.
This is an excellent example of a great single. The tunes are simple, the melody is inviting, the vocals clear and beautiful. I simply cannot understand the hate this song has taken. It is absolutely magical and nostalgic.
It's funny how everyone is sitting here and complaining about how the song is boring and the lyrics are cheesy, and how the older vocals were better.
Then there's me, who has no idea what you're comparing to. I have a guilty pleasure for this type of music, and I suppose I'm just not picky at all. I enjoyed it.
Now excuse me as I sip tea and click every related video on my sidebar LOL
Xandria is usually not on my playlist, but I have to admit that this songs is great. It's very catchy but not in a "poppish" way, it's just simple, gentle and relaxing.... yet slightly highlighted with powerful moments just to fulfill your blood with some kind of strenght. I like it a lot, really. I think that Dianne is great for this band, everything fits perfectly. Keep going, searching and improving Xandria, this is truly a masterpiece!

Guys, guys, I don't understand the unlikes and the mean comments. An album single - this could be considered a single since it's the first full song released - has to be a catchy, good and with a hook (for example, the chorus here is a great hook). I think this song checks all these 3 requirements, and I bet there are way heavier stuff on the whole album. Yes, it's more goth than metal, but hearing the Nightfall snippet convinced me that things will get really heavy on this record. Just wait until you'll hear the full album, and then make up your mind whether you like it or not :D.

everyone is expecting epic sound, it's Xandria, for many years their music was not epic and but was still very good and unique. I'm glad they got rid of soulless epic sound and went back to Xandria's unique style

As a big fan of Xandria I haven't listened to this album as much as I should had, but better late than never.
I never put comments on RUclips but I am this go round. I have read a great deal of the comments below and considered everyone's point of view. If you regularly listen to female fronted metal or any other metal, as there are now a ton of different types, then you will know that musically you cannot compare one band to another or one song to another. Some bands sound similar to others while some do not. Some songs similar to others while some do not. If you do not like a band then you simply do not like a band period. This is fine. I see that people try to defend their favorite bands which is that person's choice. I have many favorites myself. I did see that someone wrote how not all female singers are trained to sing in opera form. I feel this is a good example to go by. When you have one who is trained, for example Tarja and a lot of others, then there will be a difference between singers. Also instead of always focusing on the singer maybe try looking at the band as a whole and the other members individually as a musician and what they do and have done musically. This might make you change your opinion about a band and it might not. If you are a musician then you will understand what I am saying. Music is more than just about the person singing. Also some bands, of course not all, have changed their sound over time to make it more modern, especially some that have been around for a long while, so that should be taken into consideration as well. Example being Tristania. The older Tristania is much deeper and darker compared to the past two albums but others may feel differently which is fine. Tristania is Tristania. They have a distinct sound and probably always will. But with this past album they started to return to their roots some. They are an awesome band by the way. Another example being the famous Nightwish that a ton of people argue over on youtube. I have seen all the singers except for Tarja. I am fine with that because I do not expect to pop in the album or see them in person and the lead singer to sound exactly like Tarja. It is just the way that it is. If you do not like any of the newer singers then, to put it simply, do not listen to it or complain about it. The other two singers are not like Tarja but both are phenomenal artists and have there own individual work on the side as well as past projects that they have done or been on. With music/bands, any type, you gotta find that one thing that you feel makes them distinct from other bands. Sometimes that is hard to do and in that case, oh well. You either like them or you don't. But music is more than just about the singer or a video with a hot chick or guy or a million other things people complain about. As you grow and branch out and listen to other artists, metal or not, then it may help you be more open to things that you would have never imagined or thought you would be open to. It also may help you pick up on other things in music and you may go back to an artist that you hated before and listen to them 5 months later and end up loving them. It happens. But there are individuals who are firmly set on their opinions and some that are not and that is fine. Even some musicians are set in their ways which is fine as well. Anyway just some stuff I am throwing out there to the world. So if you have positive comments then that is great and if you have negative comments then that is fine. I respect anyone's opinion as everyone is entitled to one, unless of course you are just being a butt.

I really loved this song :) I felt chills! Love the sweeping "balladesque" feeling, is a strong song in a different way but many "metalhead" people think that all has to be super choirs and guitars everywhere, but I like that Xandria is doing something different and fresh. :D I give them a 10/10 very good job!!!

All of you people must realize that this is how Xandria always was, before Manuella came in. Apparently taking Manuella in was a bad step for the band. People say bands suck, but if you are a fan of the band, you won´t be so close minded. None of you Tarja-fan boys never really liked Nightwish either. You don´t follow bands, just singers like Manuela or Tarja. Not all symphonic metal bands have to create music with powerfull vocals. This song is just as good as any of old great songs from Xandria and I´m happy that they returned to their previous style. Too bad that all their videos now will be flooded with Manuella´s fanboys comments. You never liked Xandria anyways, you just followed Manuella´s voice because you missed that kind of metal. So move on and leave Xandria alone, they´re doing a gr8 job at what they always did.

Found this band few months ago. I think that this is their best song to the date. Their newest singer is bands best singer so far in my opinion.
Actually for those who want another Neverworld's end, this one sounds more like the old albums (Even the voice of Dianne it's alike Lisa's). I've been following this band since their first album and when Neverworld came I was kinda confused because even that was epic, it was so different. This sounds like Xandria again, and I feel proud of em, its great to see this band going back to their roots.
Can the band never keep a lead singer for a substantial amount of time.

This is difficult... I like this song, but I don't love it. But I prefer it than more of the songs from Neverworld's End. Why ? Beccause this song is a Xandria song. Well that's pretty obcious... I mean, we musn't forget that Neverworld's Ends wasn't their first album. The previous ones were... Well... good, but not incredible. But when you hear a song from one of these albums, you know it's a song from Xandria.
Neverworld's End was very good, but it hadn't this "Xandria thing". So I'm happy to see that they don't forget their other albums. The perfect Xandria album would be a mix between these two styles. Maybe it's the case with Sacrificium ? Anyway, I prefer to hear a great song with something special than a good song with no soul.
I agree that the last album didn't had Xandria in it. This one has something from Xandria's style. I doubt that without Lisa's songwriting they can make the kind of music they did before, but this one gives some hope
