      This is correct.
      In terms of famous Chicken rice stalls keep being marketed in social media and tourist information, Singapore wins due to consistency.
      But the really good ones that can be better than SG ones are hidden around Ipoh near residential areas and not really known on social media.
      But one thing SG definitely cannot win is Ipoh's bean sprouts.

But if you're coming back to Ipoh, I would suggest either Ming Court (Foh San's friendly competitor) for old school dim sum style or Chooi Yue. Consider the Kacang Puteh street at Buntong. You are eating kampung chicken, so it wont be as silky as the normal chickens used in singapore. Normal chickens have more fat, hence why it is more glutinous after that ice bath. The advantage kampung chicken has is the meat actually taste more chicken-y and it has a firmer bite, which many hong kong people strive for and like.

    In terms of tenderness, ipoh is using free range Kampung Chickens. Not sure how that fares with Singaporeans, but some of the better chicken rice here uses slightlt chewier but more flavourful kamping chicken. Kampunf chicken is actually more difficult to cook as well due to drier texture.

  • @simplyme3306

    Actually dim sum in carts are a rare find even in Hong Kong. It's a dying trait. Ipoh is famous for their bean sprouts and sar hor fun due to their natural spring water used in making them.
    I don't think any of the curry puffs sold outside uses real butter more like Planta. The dragon beard candy can hardly be found already. You still see it last time in Singapore's pasar malam.
    Doubt they use cumin perhaps 5 spice?

    I find SG food more towards the sweet side, like the chilli dips, sambal, char kway teow, carrot cake. Msia food sweet is like naturally fresh sweetness rather than taste wise. KL food itself defo the salty type.

    Delicious food can be found in places where the Cantonese people exist. Hence, u should try the food in KL next. I'm from Penang & i personally feel that Penang's food is overrated. I mean yes, we do have nice hawker food but KL & Ipoh too equally nice (some are even better) have nice hawker food. And if u wanna try good restaurant food, then definitely must go to KL

    Dim Sum --> Foh San (Tourist Trap, ppl from out of town visits it)
    White coffee --> 👍
    Chicken Rice --> Locals mostly go to Onn Kee next door (This spot you should be having Chicken hor fun soup)

      yes yes yes, foh san is so so , it is a tourist trap and is way expensive, the better one is the one that is opposite of foh san, way better dim sum.

    When you eat chicken rice, why eat with all those sides? I never get that.

    If it's a free Hainanese Chicken Rice and it's halal, no matter it's Malaysian or Singaporean...for me that's the best 😅
    But jokes aside, I prefer to savour our own home made Hainanese Chicken Rice. Coz I love eating a rice filled with chicken legs, chicken skins and chicken fats and sadly, the commercial one, we don't have that option. Also in terms of originality, major commercial Hainanese Chicken Rice sellers, they quit frying the rice first and just skipped to boiling the rice. So that's already a big reason why I preferred to cook our own Hainanese Chicken Rice traditionally.
