- December 17, 1996. The Los Angeles Lakers visited The Chicago Bulls in Chicago Illinois.
It was Kobe Bryant's 1st lesson on guarding Michael Jordan, The G.O.A.T took it easy on Kobe, the game itself was incredible...
This night had everything, a hyped crawd, dunks, blocks, OT, clutch shots, heated moments etc
Players that stepped up. Toni Kukoc, Randy Brown, Dereck Fisher & "The Worm" Dennis Rodman
The BEST DAYS OF BASKETBALL 😢
Of life.
Can't even watch the garbage the NBA puts out today once Tim Duncan and mamba hung it up lost all interest.
I was at this game!!! Such an epic nite and to top it off Rodman hit the last two free throws at the end of the game!!!!!
Some of the greatest basketball players to ever play and the Bulls still beat everyone. An amazing era to have witnessed. Love these old highlights
The Bulls took the Lakers best shot ( and luck ) and still found a way to win.
Kukoc was so good. Very underrated.
I watched this game live and recorded on VHS, so many times I re-watch and still an amazing game. (Mj, Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc vs Kobe, Shaq, Jones, Van Exel)
Van Exel has a great take on Rodman and this game was one the reasons why.
and Randy Brown 😮🔥🔥🔥
And that's how competitive the bulls are on that era, that they will take down dennis rodman just so that he won't be called for a technical, what an era.... 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Best team ever! Toni Kukoc was amazing
He was Durant before durant
I remember this day...sad to say I was in cook county jail and Kukoc brought the Bulls back we were so loud and cheering for the Bulls that the guards turned the tv off hating...
Pippin knocking Kukoc's hand away when he reached out to help Shaq up was gold!
Yep, don't show any weakness.
I noticed that lol
Man..this was basketaball..I miss those games. Today's game is nothing compare to the 90's. They played deffence and something went wrong nowdays..They just shot, nobody guards no one. I watch this sport for 25 years and I want games like this, again.
It's so true! I was watching the Philly series and yelling "run the two man game!" I think Harden and Embidd could have really worked it. Instead, you had each guy just doing one-on-ones.
Yeah its basically a shooting practise into zone nowdays.. This was a real basketball with a real defence like fullcourt defense by chicago and it was so effective and fun to watch. Also centers were centers and they werent standing on a 3 point line like today.
I know.
Cuz when you exert yourself defensively--- these snake shooters fuel themselves off you and j you up. Bro. It's biblical
@@jakerojas4756 shooting into zone is not so hard. Everyone can lear how to shoot 3 points its just about practise.. still boring to watch 100 3point attemps by one team in the game lol.. just degredation of basketball.. And i dont speak about travel like almost every time the players in NBA travel like they dont even know the rules of basketball anymore haha
9:17 Got to love how Pippen pulls back Kukoc's hand from helping Shaq. "No prisoners"
I remember that moment,epic
I'm dying with Scottie's smiles when Dennis made his owns 😂😂😂
I would watch every Bull game growing up. I’m soooo lucky to have watched his games live meaning Jordan playing And I miss that. Don’t watch sports at all anymore So when I want to watch a game. I go to RUclips
Underrated Lakers team. Eddie Jones and nick were dope
they didnt do anything until eddie and nick left
Underrated? How are they Underrated when they won 56 games? And if they were Underrated, wouldn't they have gone further in the playoffs? They got beat in the second round. Your comment makes no sense.
This was the team that was suppose to take the throne, but nothing was happening as long as MJ was playing.
No drama,no flopping,pure basketball,pure competition
I KNOW RIGHT AGREE 👍 I MISS 90'S N.B.A COMMENT FROM CHICAGO,BE WELL N.B.A WORLD 🌎
But now you got guys like JJ reddick saying the 90s were trash or they played plumbers. If JJ played back then he would have rode the bench.
They say the old school teams couldn’t keep pace with todays game. This game right here is a prime example that in fact yes they could. The only exception is that there was more physicality in yesteryear’s game but they got up and down and shot a lot of 3’s.
I agree with all of that. That lakers team would beat any team today. And the bulls would too. Especially now that you can’t hand check.
1985 to 2005 were twenty years of the greatest professional basketball ever played. Players in the 70's like Dr. J and Moses Malone planted the seeds for the talent that would sprout in the 80's in the form of players like MJ, Bird, and Magic. From there, the 90's would produce all-stars like Kobe, Shaq, J-Kidd, AI, KG, and Tim Duncan. The early 2000's saw the arrival of D-Wade, Lebron, and CP3, but the quality of the league started to slide not long after. Presently, I don't watch the NBA like I used to; it's just not as exciting as it once was.
2:53 Jordan: I saw this guy doing that and that's when it became personal! 😄
The defensive pressure on a guard loaded Lakers team making prayers all night - shows you how good the Bulls really were.
Can never forget that game… bro went into take a shower after 3rd qtr thinking the game was over since lakers was 20 pt ahead. I stayed to watch the comeback… 🤦♂️ was surprised but not really surprised… mj’s greatness
The good old day's when everybody wasn't friends
What's the issue with everyone being friends/friendly and have respect for each other?
They had respect for each other just didn't meet up and have a selfie
Your missing the point yo🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣players had respect for each other but when it comes to the game its all about set aside that for thier clubs.
The Good. Old. Days. If someone said you could have $5,000,000 right now, or do the 1990’s all again. I’d go ‘90’s baby!
@@craigmillington1258*You're* (not your) missing the point too!
Dennis was great but was a wild card, the Bulls were the only team that had the leadership that could keep him in check.
He was simply too wild for the mild mannered Spurs. This Bulls team were like Rock stars everywhere they went.
But what about that Randy Brown dunk on Kersey & Elden Campbell at 8:38.
IKR 😳 I dont remember Randy going up like that much.
I remember watching this game I miss the old school mid 90s NBA
It just feels weird seeing a team being a team, rather than guys just doing their jobs without passion.
At that era, every game was like real war.
players these days fight on twitter.
The greatest era of basketball, even had the GOAT playing at home!!!
The good old days
My GOAT team right here. I'd put and pick the 96 Bulls against any team from any year or era you care to name and like my odds in that series.
Man those Bulls were good
The intensity in todays game does not even come close to this. Amazing to watch
You delusional as fuck 😂😂🤦🏾♂️
Remember this game vividly. Even up 25 it just seemed like the Bulls were going to win. P.S. Rodman had the whole Laker squad pissed in the 2nd half.
Looks like a playoff game.
it’s competitive they play D and they all can score with talent/skills and all this people that talk about B-Ball like to trash old school ball.. 🤦🏻♂️
Old but gold,GOAT vs GOAT.💪👍
Van Exel Vs Kukoc.
Thankful for on-screen scores in todays sports.
I love this NBA Game 90s.
I wish the games rule didnt change, would be fun again to see NBA
Look at the HOF talent on the floor, along with some really good players as well. This was drama. This was fun to watch.
Lakers hit a lot of prayers this game.
The Bulls defense was just totally insane...
Scary to go up against
Rodman was one of the best defensive players ever, but guess who else won defensive player of the year... Jordan. And that supporting cast, yeah the Bulls were textbook with defense a lot of those years.
There was a reason why they were called the Doberman Defense in the late 90's and the key person of it was Randy Brown. That guy when put into a game he was to find the guy trying to bring up the ball to the frontcourt and literally hound him like a dog. If he needed help Scottie and MJ had his back and it became LOCKDOWN on your butt. Buchler off the bench wasn't that bad of defender either. But your lockdown defense scheme had Rodman Jordan Pippen Brown and Kukoc out there. Tony was underrated as a defender. He was long lanky and quick on the perimeter to cover say the worst shooter on the floor for the enemy. Rodman was in the paint banging their big man and playing shutdown on his guy. Pippen and Jordan took their guys 1v1 and Brown was just a monster defender. He was about the only one that in practice could slow down MJ. There is a reason why he was on all 3 of the second 3 peat teams. He knew how to defend and do his job well.
@@haroldbenton979 they were called the Dobermans earlier than Randy Brown. When Horace was there around 91/92
Jordan was like not today you won't. 😅
9:18 I like Scottie's competitiveness 😮
Those Euro players are not like that anymore. Giannis and Jokic are not trying to make friends. lol
Curry would turn it over so much against this defense
Everyone in the warriors would have a blast with their complex mutiple screens and setup plays. Raining threes all day while the bulls would just play iso ball with jordan... Nah sorry to say the bulls aint winning this one.
@@zihuatenejo😂😂 please they r struggling to score against the bum ass lakers😂 the bulls would eat them up.. n complex screens? 😂😂😂 their system is a dumb downed version of the bulls triangle numbnuts
@@zihuatenejothe bulls ran the triangle dipshit😂 they definitely did not play iso ball.. good lord goes to show how ignorant u r about basketball. Even Steve Kerr said the warriors offense is a less complicated version of what they ran when he played in Chicago 😂 good lord ur a novice
@@zihuatenejo by that logic, Celtics and Bucks should’ve beaten the Miami Heat. Back in this era, switching wouldn’t be needed and you could keep your man in front of you. If these “plays” (shooting threes) end up not going through the hoop, it’ll be a beat down
@@OP_-pk9hm this year the warriors fell short but let's not discredit them. The warriors with KD era was a force to reckon with and I'd bet my ass on them over the outdated Bulls. Basketball has evolved over the years, you can try the man on man defense all you want but with how the warriors are setting up their plays with screens and collective scoring , it will be too difficult to outscore them. When the bulls just do 2 points per possession with midrange shooting compared to the warriors 3.
"Don't want to play him (MJ) wouldn't want to wrestle him". Even the commentator knows.
Oh my god, what a thrill!
Many remember those Lakers because Shak and Kobie but Van Excel was such a great player, fast and great long range shot.
Curry
Man that Lakers team was stacked.
Randy Brown player of the game :)
Randy "Zo Mourning shoulders" Brown 😂
Thanks for this great video! I would have liked you to show the scores from time to time.
I remembered Toni kukucc was a silent killer..
YES HE WAS AND NOW HE'S A H.O.F RESPECT...
Those fouls nowadays will be technical foul... Miss old good basketball games...
8:53 that dunk was nasty but because he aint a star, it dont come out in dunk highlights
Pip low key telling Tony to not help Shaq up after the foul
You give you opponent the ultimate respect by not giving them any respect
I disagree. You commit a flagrant foul (even though it wasn't called, it was a flagrant foul), there's nothing wrong with reaching a hand out to say hey, no hard feelings, had to foul you. Being a fierce competitor and expressing sportsmanship aren't mutually exclusive.
@@DanielBarberMusic This was the 90's. These were not games, they were wars. Tony was being taught how to do battle, don't give an inch. Pikka GTR is right.
Yeah, I saw this game live, too. Jordan, Pippen, Rodman. All-time great trio, and the way that the three protected each other in the moment. Not in a machismo-type of manner, but always with their eyes on the big prize.
Битва настоящих мужчин. Насколько круче они смотрятся по сравнению с нынешней лигой
I miss watching this style of NBA games.
It’s a lot better when you can see the score
Scenes of the game: 1) Randy Brown's amazing dunk out of nowhere, 2) Scottie & MJ wrestling down Rodman, after he had swatted away Randy Brown. LOL.
I remember that Lakers squad they was tough, but clowns today they lie & say Jordan & the Bulls never faced or beat anybody, I put that Laker squad over any team today to 20yrs.back!
Kobe Shaq Jordan Pippen & the best 2 players were Van Exel & Kukoc.
This was NBA at its finest these were the days you couldn't come by with a layup because you will be met by defense in today's NBA you have to let the guy finish his layup soft...
Miss the intensity.
Amazing comeback??? I wish i knew throughout the video what the score was and how big the comeback was.
The Bulls were down 25 at one point, and then they won in OT
That’s when basketball was like playing chess.
yep
Like playing chess in a prison yard.
There shoe game in the 80's to mid 90's was crazy dope unlike the stuff u see today lol
You can't deny that he is a heluva basketball player)
I miss Verne Lundquist calling games
I'm from Fort Worth and Verne was the local sports anchor for several years in the Dallas/FW market before he went national. Always a class guy.
Real players, real game, real entertainment, real fans. Todays era all fakes and dumb. Fans now are the dumbest.
10:05
If another human was going to give it to Shaq it would be Rodman.
Mufa Efa had no fear going in.
100
Like the video except for the abrupt ending just before the actual end of the game 😔
They owe Toni k actually, he was definitely a star
dat look on 2 08 ....black Mamba approve :D
The scuffle 🤣
god!!
and then Pippen cry about the coach choosing Kukoc instead of him for a final shot, lol, Kukoc was amazing.
Bulls had a lot more experience. You can tell
dennis smiling after pippen escorted him to the floor
If that team had a coach. 😢
Before the days of defenseless basketball. If curry had to play back then he’s just a footnote. He would have gotten smashed period.
He probably would have been a Reggie Miller type. Reggie needed screens to get a shot because of the physicality and so would Curry.
@@Slylok226 but curry doesn’t have millers height. But I think your right
Refs for LA, some many strange things. Rude fouls, on players WITHOUT ball, after pass. No technicals. Bulls dunked with foul? No. Foul before jumping. But on replays - foul AFTER jumping
Man to man defense
What was the score to the next game they played that season?
(25-19)Lakers : 84, (41-3) Bulls : 99 - Lakers home court.
@@bernarddelossantos8083this was the 72 win Bulls??
And they think the chicago cant handle the new era basketball..still they can dominate even if 2023..
Rodman will kill shaq
Hey, can you make a video about Chicago bulls vs Detroit pistons 88, 89, 90, 91?
If you can, that will be the bigger history to show everybody how was MJ growing against Pistons, how hard was every game, and how MJ's mind works to get up and finally... win !

If they kept that Lakers team together...
I remember this game well. Was just thinking about it not long ago. Both teams were loaded with stars in their prime. Bulls down by something like 21 in the 4th and came all the way back. Everything just seemed to go their way that night.
129 - 123 Chicago total score
That's some odd editing. For one, why not show the free throws btly Luloc atbthe end of regulation?
Jordan took the Laker’s lead personally…..
I love these videos but for god sake post the score more often…It’s hard to get involved when u don’t know what the score is 🤷🏿
And the actual outcome of the game might help too.
@ 8:40 Randy Brown 2 hand tomahawk dunk 🧐💯. Convinced this bulls team will run these new age NBA teams out the gym. BTW he the back up back up PG.
Ma bad 1 hand wit da left WTF 😵💫🙈
I forgot Phil Donahue coached the Lakers
REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF 3 POINT SHOTS IN A GAME FOR BOTH TEAMS TO 12........
Even the commentator was confused between Jones and Kobe
True, i was confused also back thn fam, i remember home with my homies here in monte carlo watching this game or nba action and recording everything VHS
LeBron don't have that arsenal Jordan had. Like Rodman said, LeBron's he is all downhill.
이때가 재밌었지
Shohoku vs Kainan
Who won?
Bulls won, in OT
Irving ❤
Good game by Idris Elba
All that and you don’t show the end of the game
