That probably is common with CA. Extraction is a problem with CA. I gave them 3 opportunities and then went to Fierce Firearms

I guided hunters for a guy who had a Christensen arms rifle in .300 RUM and it was the worst shooting rifle either one of us had ever seen. The Accuracy was terrible the best group we were able to get out of the rifle was 8 inches. Sometimes it would string 3 or 4 shot vertical then the next time it would throw the shots all over. It would shoot high then low, the left or right. We tried 3 different scopes on it and checked the action screws as well as everything we could think of and never could get it to shoot properly.
Howa's website does indicate they make their own CF barrels if memory is correct. I looked into it last summer. Your experience with CA customer service is in stark contrast to mine. Essentially NO customer service. I spoke with a guy at a big gun store, either in Idaho or Utah, can't remember. Just the other day the guy stated to me they are going to stop carrying CA due to poor customer service

Can Howa make a 6.5 lbs rifle for under $800? I liked the Howa 1500 Hogue version in 7mm-08 I had but if you do a lot of hiking to your stand it's worth the extra $200-$250 to get a Tikka T3x. They are unbeatable for under $1,000.

Back in the 90s, bought a HOWA barreled action for $150. Dropped it into a $90 Hogue stock. Those were the days. No one knew HOWA's rocked back then.
I didn't hear the caliber of the Christensen Arms. Did you use the same scope on each?
You never mentioned price difference? That could be the deciding factor on either buying the Howa or the CA rifle to most enthusiasts!😊

I bought the Savage Ultralight in 6.5PRC. I had intended on buying a CA but after talking to two employees of different gunsmiths I changed my mind.
