Step into Rex Supply Co. newest scent 1977. This fragrance embodies the cool, effortless style of the 1970's, inspired by the Decade of Contrasts.
Hop out of your Chevrolet Chevelle SS and take a journey into a smokey, dimly lit lounge. The base notes of vetiver and patchouli beckon you, the natural and bohemian movements of the time guide you through the hazy entrance. The air is thick with the warm embrace of tobacco and the unmistakable scent of genuine leather - a symphony of well-worn jackets and vintage allure.
As you step deeper into the heart of 1977, the sultry sweetness of rose flirts through the air, reminiscent of the fading flower power era. You turn a corner and the classic guitar fades beneath the pulsating rhythm of disco music. Clove adds a spicy kick and electrifying energy of the dance floor.
Scent Notes: vetiver, patchouli, rose, tobacco, genuine leather, clove

I love my Yates 921 so much that I used it on 9/21 while listening to Earth, Wind, and Fire sing about the 21st night of September!
I have the M (solid bar) & H (scalloped) plates, and they're both great. The M is great for daily use as a face shaver, and I like the H better for weekly head shaves because I lack luxurious locks like you.
I think you'd enjoy his stubby handle option or even his 'Merica handle. Both Rex and Yates are really carrying the banner for American made razors.

Just got my 921-H yesterday and it shaved like an absolute DREAM! Got it with their “Stubby” handle which really gives a nice hefty weight and feels ultra premium.

Great review Matt! I have a Yates Merica razor in titanium and it is one of my top performing razors. The machine finish, weight/balance look and feel perfect. Maybe Rex can consider using Yates in the manufacture of your first titanium razor?😉

I think, of all my razors, the Yates 921 (i have a stainless as machined with all 3 plates) is the razor that has impressed me most in the last couple of years. No matter what sort of shave/plate you use, its mixture of blade feel, efficiency and epic smoothness is absolute perfection for me. If i had to keep only one razor to use every shave, it would be the 921.

  • @RonnieYates
    @RonnieYates 8 месяцев назад +4

Yates 921 is among the top razors in my favorites list. I have all 3 plates. I like the H the best - it’s a good balance. The EH is good for a 2 passer. Matt, try the EH in your next review - it will be the lawnmower you referenced. An area for improvement IMO are the handle options.

Since Jake is now making the winning and the Merica razors and selling them exclusively those handles can be interchanged with the 921. I put the Merica handle on mine and it made it perfect for me.

I just purchased a Yates with a Hybrid bar for my brother who only shaves once a week. Trying to get him to check out DE shaving but not trying to break the bank and that hybrid bar is an adjustment that's not an adjustment. Yates can do custom engraving if you order straight from them and that's cool as well for a gift. Getting all the cool accessories from Razor Emporium.

I preordered the Titanium Yates Winning razor. Not sure when it will get here. But will look good next to my Rex Konsuls and Ambassador! I'm a sucker for Titanium. It has been my favorite metal (other than Platinum and Rhodium) for as long as I can remember. I'm serious about wanting Rex to come out with a titanium TTO Konsul. I would pay a lot for that!
One of the things that drew me to the Yates purchase was that like you Matt, Jake Yates is active in the Shave groups, that always means a lot to me.

Now the razor looks very much like the Hensen I bought from you recently which I quite like to use but I will have to look at the priceof the Yates because I do live in Australia and shipping is my major issue buying anything from the US.

Love the Yates line of razors. I own the original version Winning and 'Merica, which I purchased through the Wet Shave Club. It has since been acquired by Yates. I also own the 921 with the M, H and EH plates. All the above razors are in SS. I'm considering purchasing the v2 Winning now. The new design is a significant improvement over the v1 IMO.
Like the REX line of razors, I really appreciate that they are American made. And Yates manufacturing is a long stones throw away as the crow flies from my residence.

What I don't understand is why Matt is doing so many strokes over some places. When you use a cartridge they have 3+ blades so one stroke = 3 strokes. Maybe not ideal, but if you go over the same place only once then it's okay. Now I see Matt doing 10+ strokes (all while saying that he has sensitive skin) on some places. With my safety razor I usually do 1-2 strokes over each area and it is close enough shave for me. I definitely don't want to touch that spot again to avoid irritation. I think the real test would be doing as few strokes over each place as possible.

Phoenix, Arizona. Who would have know this company is a close drive to me. I did n to and watch Matt's videos for years say where is this place.

Yates makes a “stubby” handle. I have it. I like it but it is a bit heavy - it is solid metal. Their bottom plates require a special handle to fit into bottom plate so better buying their handle to ensure correct fit. Blackbird handle fits.
