  • Hello players,
    This is a a comprehensive breakdown/tutorial of the Ghanaian groove or beat called Adowa. Here I explain how to play it, and take you through the feel of the groove. This groove is in 6/8 time signature. It is an afrobeat that is usually played in Ghanaian churches as a gospel groove and is a worthy addition to your drum tool kit. Check it out. It's really cool.

    On the second variation on what count do you insert the snare?

    • @JayStiqs
      @JayStiqs  3 года назад +1

      Its a 6/8 groove. So you start the snare pattern on the 3rd count.

    is this really adowa, or its the tempo thst is slow. because i feel adowa should be a little faster than this.

  • @drixsephk
    @drixsephk 3 года назад

    Its good yes but now the problem is I'm not that much advanced in drums, kindly if you can tell me the counts of the hihat and the accent I'll be really grateful

      You ain't responding?

    • @JayStiqs
      @JayStiqs  3 года назад

      The hi-hat starts on the 1 and follows its pattern as shown in the video. It will be difficult to place every single count of the hi-hat using counts. A better way I believe you can learn it is to memorize the pattern of the hi-hat then start on the 1 and it will be in sync every time. You can slow down the video to get a better understanding of the pattern. Cheers, player. All the best in your journey.
