    Crimes like this are called "overkill" and it usually happens when things are personal. To know that this killer did this with no beef with the victim even though Sonja had begged for her life and told him she had kids, it completely outraged me

    • @redtobertshateshandles
      @redtobertshateshandles Год назад

      To the psycho killer it is personal. A profiler explained why a woman stabbed her husband over 100 times. The killer projected her violent thoughts about her father onto her husband. In the back of her mind she knew that her father wasn't dead but kept stabbing, trying to kill him. Read the book on Jeffrey Dahmer. There's no logic, these people are just insane.

    • @Psyopcyclops
      @Psyopcyclops 11 месяцев назад

      “Overkill” is an assumption that investigators make, and has been wrong so many times that they don’t use it much anymore. With so many extremely violent crimes happening to victims from perps that don’t know them, it just doesn’t make sense to assume it’s personal anymore. In other words, it’s pseudoscience

  • @sarahwatterson5706
    @sarahwatterson5706 2 года назад +190

    Thank god he was caught. For this to be his first murder, already so nightmarishly vicious, and knowing killers only escalate in violence means that even greater horrors would have been in store for the women of Reno. It’s unfortunate that he didn’t receive the death penalty because if there ever was a person so deserving of it, it’s him.

    Crazy to me that "the public" seemed to be more "outraged" by the pictures that were put in the paper than they were the damn crimes that were committed on this poor woman. Mayne if we'd stop to look at the pictures of what a woman went through, we'd be more outraged by the crimes.... Instead we hide it, act like it didn't happen and then told we should feel bad for the poor criminals 🙄.... If more people were forced to see what someone's last breath looked like, they'd be more outraged that criminals are constantly set free

      Considering the impact the 24hr news cycle and fixation on the details of violent crime have had on the prevalence and viciousness of mass shootings in America, I fully disagree.
      Fixating on the details of the crime and showing the viscera - in this case, the literal viscera - only shows people in that mental state that a heinous crime is a sure-fire way to become famous and to be seen as important in some way.
      It also creates a culture of fear and mistrust in society that only reinforces a desire for authoritarianism and further reinforces the alienation and loneliness of late-stage capitalism here in the states.
      We can't fix society if we're terrified of the people around us, and let me be clear: a broken society is what produces, galvanizes, and rewards heinous crime.

    I think watching true crime videos like this have really made me aware of just how horrific being murdered can really be, there’s so much pain and torture that occurs before you finally die, it makes those who kill others just with a single gunshot seem like saints compared to the psychopaths in cases like this one. I never know how loved ones can cope with that knowledge, I honestly am surprised it doesn’t lead to more retribution killings once the killer is identified, surely the want to be able to hurt them back, to kill them for what they did to your loved one is unbearable.

    How nice, beautiful , a mother of two children murdered in the most brutal way, actually slaughtered, cut into pieces, and handled like garbage! But it shows again the murderer isn't INSANE we are INSANE! How in hell can a state justify using Taxpayers money for the next 56 years to keep a monster alive? From daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner, fresh bedsheets, healtcare, and all the other goodies a modern prison has to offer in our time, and let's not forget the costs of the trial, lawyers, and definitely prison guards! That's what I call INSANE! From the beautiful mother not even a bone is left and her children, who knows?! So my question, wasn't it better and on top cheaper to send him to good old SPARKY on the spot 🤔?
    Let's not forget he isn't the only murderer who enjoys a modern prison, but if taxpayers are waiting for tax reduction, or better Healthcare, Education, Pensions, ahhhhh sorry the state has no money, and that's not only in America, in Europe is even worse..

I just wish they didn't always go to "it must of been someone they knew because there's no sign of forced entry" that's really not true, it's totally possible that a intruder just found a way in that took no force, a lot of people have a unlocked 🔓 door somewhere or something and this "it could be a complete stranger, or someone who saw her once or anything?" So why tunnel vision your investigation to only people that the victim knew? In my opinion, it's not a factor that demands to treat it as a 100% sign of it being someone who the victim knew. I don't care what era i lived in, there's no way I would ever leave my door unlocked. Don't understand how anyone did it back then and I certainly don't understand how anyone does it now.

    Imagine youre living your best happy life and there’s someone out there that saw you and went “Yes…..you’re the one.”
    Without you knowing.

    After reading so many of this type of crime, the more I realised the importance of security windows, doors and deadlocks. Mental institutions had been closed down so there are many problematic people are roaming the streets, even at daytime. I try not to live in fear but it is sensible to prevent being murdered like this. Paying for a security system or having a dog, the police told me, can stop would be criminals from choosing my home.

    What a completely horrible,senseless thing to do. I hope he never sees another moment of happiness for the rest of his days and just as much I hope his disgusting "mother" be miserable along side him. Anyone that partakes in sexual acts around a child is a pedophile and should be eradicated from society. My heart goes out to the victims family,may this innocent soul find peace.

    i live right in the middle of where this story takes place. i find a story is so much more interesting when you have some personal connection. i always enjoy hearing you pronounce place names that i am familiar with. Today you you gave me a delight with the word Tahoe! You said it twice and i thought to myself, where is this T(A)•hoe place? i've never heard of it. Then you said Truckee and i got a great big smile!:-) We say T(ah)•hoe. It had never occurred to me to pronounce it with the hard 'A' sound. This was an insight into a word i had seen countless times. i understand why you said it like that. There are more than a billion people in the world that speak broadly similar versions of English. You speak it your way and i'll speak it my way. Or sometimes, i may speak it your way!
    Thank you so much for all that you do. 🙏🆙

      I didn't even connect it with Tahoe; I thought there must be some small town called Tejo! No harm; a minor point in a fine video.

    I just love your voice and wish you read stories. Be they creepy pasts or faerie tales, if the was an hour block without mid-role ads, it would send me off to sweet sleep every night. I wouldn’t mind quiet ads. It is really too bad that isn’t a choice for creators who create sleep content. I would list to a list of these, but my area has small casinos, with very loud and very bad music.
