I could listen to you all day! When I was little, my mother was very ill, and the neighbor lady looked after me. She had emigrated from Scotland, and that accent is associated with some of the happiest days of my life. Keep up the good work!
I’m like wait so she happened to buy a camera that belonged to her future murderer who randomly selected her? Quiet the coincidence, and he happened to find it was was just like “might as well take this back”?
Crimes like this are called "overkill" and it usually happens when things are personal. To know that this killer did this with no beef with the victim even though Sonja had begged for her life and told him she had kids, it completely outraged me
To the psycho killer it is personal. A profiler explained why a woman stabbed her husband over 100 times. The killer projected her violent thoughts about her father onto her husband. In the back of her mind she knew that her father wasn't dead but kept stabbing, trying to kill him. Read the book on Jeffrey Dahmer. There's no logic, these people are just insane.
“Overkill” is an assumption that investigators make, and has been wrong so many times that they don’t use it much anymore. With so many extremely violent crimes happening to victims from perps that don’t know them, it just doesn’t make sense to assume it’s personal anymore. In other words, it’s pseudoscience
Thank god he was caught. For this to be his first murder, already so nightmarishly vicious, and knowing killers only escalate in violence means that even greater horrors would have been in store for the women of Reno. It’s unfortunate that he didn’t receive the death penalty because if there ever was a person so deserving of it, it’s him. Side note: The apartment Sonja lived and died in still stands today. You can rent it and live there. Honestly, I think after that gruesome crime they should have torn the place down but what do I know?
I agree, for what it's worth 😥 When my best friend and her boyfriend were brutally murdered, they tore the house down. It gave a small amount of peace, but it was at least a little peace.
I think you're absolutely right. It's my opinion they should have torn the apartment down right after the crime too. I think it's odd they didn't, or couldn't. Out of a mark of respect and to deter gruesome people "sightseeing" also. I can't imagine anyone wanting to live there after such an appalling crime...I know I couldn't.
Do you realize how many murders are committed every year? And all those homes should be torn down? What about schools where many were killed? Try to be realistic.
The buildings didn’t do a crime, humans did! If you tore it down, where else the residents can live? Where will be the money for demolishing and reconstruction from? So the innocent people had to take hit from the consequences of murder? THINK before giving opinions.
My Husband was murdered, it's been almost 6yrs years and the pain has not eased!! One of the thing that hurts is that even if the murderer is caught and gets the death penalty, the thing that bothers me is they get a last meal request!! Sorry, the pain is still deep and stories like this brings it all back. Bless Her Family and peace to all others living after their loved ones murder❤💔❤
Think about knowing your life is going to end and having to pick out the very last meal you will ever eat because you will never eat another meal again. That is justice in a way. I would think it probably doesn't taste very good anyway.
They always assume that when there is "Over-kill" as there CERTAINLY was in this case, that it MUST have been personal. Someone that knew her. Well now! This case destroys that theory!!! Every time I had heard that line of thinking, it always automatically made me think..."That or, a complete psycho! Don't necessarily rule THAT possibility out"!!!
Thank You for sharing this beautiful woman’s life. She is a brave angel and deserves our attention and respect. I believe that the vile fool who did this has been treated far better than the precious lady and mother whose life he so callously took.
"Angel?" Why is this term used so loosely today when the Bible gives "miraculous" examples of their sightings & works? This lady was a victim of evil & that does not qualify her the label "angel".
This is a platform not to discriminate against. She was murdered and what she endured was graphically horrible, but I choose my words to be kind not cruel. She endured more than anyone should, but please don’t tell anyone how to poignantly describe her life by using the word angel since she has passed.
Brave because she endured something that unfortunately did take a Brave person to endure ever so humbly as anyone who has experienced something so brutal that she remains a precious soul whose life was ended so cruelly.
A horrific case. It used to be customary in Scotland to leave your doors unlocked, especially the back door, as people felt safe enough to do that. She probably never gave it a second thought that someone would enter her home, let alone kill her. Very sad.

Crazy to me that "the public" seemed to be more "outraged" by the pictures that were put in the paper than they were the damn crimes that were committed on this poor woman. Mayne if we'd stop to look at the pictures of what a woman went through, we'd be more outraged by the crimes.... Instead we hide it, act like it didn't happen and then told we should feel bad for the poor criminals 🙄.... If more people were forced to see what someone's last breath looked like, they'd be more outraged that criminals are constantly set free
Considering the impact the 24hr news cycle and fixation on the details of violent crime have had on the prevalence and viciousness of mass shootings in America, I fully disagree. Fixating on the details of the crime and showing the viscera - in this case, the literal viscera - only shows people in that mental state that a heinous crime is a sure-fire way to become famous and to be seen as important in some way. It also creates a culture of fear and mistrust in society that only reinforces a desire for authoritarianism and further reinforces the alienation and loneliness of late-stage capitalism here in the states. We can't fix society if we're terrified of the people around us, and let me be clear: a broken society is what produces, galvanizes, and rewards heinous crime.
My God😭. What this lovely young woman suffered was beyond horrific. May she rest in peace🙏. It's a travesty that her killer escaped the death penalty. I pray that her children are safe.
How many times have we heard that the cops thought the killer was medically trained or at least a butcher because they thought the cuts looked too "precise" for an average person to make, but then ......... the killer turned out to be an average person? Like seriously cops, just how IMPRECISE would cuts have to be for you to be for you to not be impressed, lol?!!
Same here in Italy ,the monster of Florence, many decades ago.The man/beast was no surgeon nor skilled butcher. He turned out to be not trained at all .It was just heinous fury moving his hand.He was mentally sane, though, and perfectly aware he was causing unbearable pain.Unforgettable and unforgivable.
There's enough ignorance about post-mortem presentation that a dead cow with parts eaten by scavengers gets translated as "It must have been aliens who used lasers!" LOL. And I believe in alien visitation by the way, but the cattle mutilation stuff just makes my eyes roll uncontrollably. Crop circles too. Did I already say LOL?
Anyone who had ever cut a whole chicken or turkey or rabbit for food, would understand how joints ant ligaments work and be quite precise at dismembering a mammal or even a human being.
What an absolutely horrific case. That kind of violence is usually very personal….but that kid….why?? Why do such a ghastly, barbaric thing to an innocent stranger? The levels humans can stoop to never fails to amaze me….unbelievable.

Insanity pleas are for people who don't know what they did was wrong. They are sent for in-patient treatment until they understand it was wrong and then stand trial anyway, or if they cannot be treated to the necessary extent, they are permanently hospitalized for being criminally insane. He knew full well that what he did was wrong, he just enjoyed it too much to care.
The court didn't accept his plea, though, as he was sentanced for 1st degree murder. Murder first requires malice aforethought, premeditation and intent, which seems clearly shown by the pre offense behaviors as well as bringing weapons to the scene.

I think watching true crime videos like this have really made me aware of just how horrific being murdered can really be, there’s so much pain and torture that occurs before you finally die, it makes those who kill others just with a single gunshot seem like saints compared to the psychopaths in cases like this one. I never know how loved ones can cope with that knowledge, I honestly am surprised it doesn’t lead to more retribution killings once the killer is identified, surely the want to be able to hurt them back, to kill them for what they did to your loved one is unbearable.
I recall one time when the underwear of a few neighborhood women went missing one night. I wouldn't say it was common, but not unheard of. It wasn't frightening, or shocking, more like surprising, annoying, and laughable. I have a clothesline now that I like to use during nice weather, I put out sports bras, and socks, but no regular bras or panties. It just feels too personal to be hanging outside, even if it never gets stolen.

This really shows the evil in this world and you can't trust anyone anymore!
There are so many people missing all over the world especially children . After finding out how many British children were missing a British reporter went to America to find out how many children were missing . He was told there were so many children missing that they didn’t know exactly how many and the reporter should go to state to state to find out , which is what he did . Also many indigenous and Mexican young women go missing and the authorities don’t even bother investigating .

death penalty should never have been abolished in the usa. it has destroyed society & criminal punishment since. these criminals should never be treated with greater respect than their victims.
They are scum, lethal injection , good night, simple. Too much money made from court cases, Barristers etc, news coverage. They seem to have more rights then the poor people they killed, and their families trying to come to terms with what’s happened.
It is so distasteful and disrespectful to use the images of a deceased family member in the press. Nearly all of us have people who love us and would be driven to madness seeing those images of their beloved all over the papers.

How nice, beautiful , a mother of two children murdered in the most brutal way, actually slaughtered, cut into pieces, and handled like garbage! But it shows again the murderer isn't INSANE we are INSANE! How in hell can a state justify using Taxpayers money for the next 56 years to keep a monster alive? From daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner, fresh bedsheets, healtcare, and all the other goodies a modern prison has to offer in our time, and let's not forget the costs of the trial, lawyers, and definitely prison guards! That's what I call INSANE! From the beautiful mother not even a bone is left and her children, who knows?! So my question, wasn't it better and on top cheaper to send him to good old SPARKY on the spot 🤔? Let's not forget he isn't the only murderer who enjoys a modern prison, but if taxpayers are waiting for tax reduction, or better Healthcare, Education, Pensions, ahhhhh sorry the state has no money, and that's not only in America, in Europe is even worse..
Wow that is such a horrendous crime scene.. could you imagine being the investigators.. I just wish they didn't always go to "it must of been someone they knew because there's no sign of forced entry" that's really not true, it's totally possible that a intruder just found a way in that took no force, a lot of people have a unlocked 🔓 door somewhere or something and this "it could be a complete stranger, or someone who saw her once or anything?" So why tunnel vision your investigation to only people that the victim knew? In my opinion, it's not a factor that demands to treat it as a 100% sign of it being someone who the victim knew. Just felt like saying that. RIP to this poor woman 💔
I’m not shocked that they printed the crime photos in the newspaper because, that way, we can see the reality of the vicious and brutal crime that was committed. What shocks me is people who are against the death penalty!

What a monster. Absolutely no motive. Just purely disturbed. Thank God they caught him before he did it again. Horrific.
Thank the police. Why would god allow it in the 1st place.
I could listen to you all day! When I was little, my mother was very ill, and the neighbor lady looked after me. She had emigrated from Scotland, and that accent is associated with some of the happiest days of my life.
Keep up the good work!
P
What amazes me about this case is that the perpetrator was captured because of a missing camera.
Good detective work. Sees a camera manual and finds no camera. Thinks Pawn Shop. Finds camera. Finds killer. Kudo's to them!
I’m like wait so she happened to buy a camera that belonged to her future murderer who randomly selected her? Quiet the coincidence, and he happened to find it was was just like “might as well take this back”?
This is horrifying, he killed her because he just felt like it 🤬
He should have gotten the death penalty.
That is Evil.
I agree, for what it's worth 😥
When my best friend and her boyfriend were brutally murdered, they tore the house down. It gave a small amount of peace, but it was at least a little peace.
No way where on yori I wonder I'll have to look it up that would be a little weird I think to live in the same apartment. Poor woman.. 😥
I send condolences. I hope for better days for you.
I will keep you in my prayers Joanne. Feel free to message me as much as you want. If there is anything I can do to ease the pain let me know.
Think about knowing your life is going to end and having to pick out the very last meal you will ever eat because you will never eat another meal again. That is justice in a way. I would think it probably doesn't taste very good anyway.
If it helps any a lot of places aren’t doing last meals anymore. Not sure where tho
Gabour Mate is a good man to watch 🙏❤️🇳🇿
They always assume that when there is "Over-kill" as there CERTAINLY was in this case, that it MUST have been personal. Someone that knew her. Well now! This case destroys that theory!!! Every time I had heard that line of thinking, it always automatically made me think..."That or, a complete psycho! Don't necessarily rule THAT possibility out"!!!
like the "doctor" or "butcher" theory about the mutilations on the victim's body is always wrong !
@@tarantellalarouge7632 Facts, they always say that shit
I don’t know I’d say Bundy, and Dahmer qualify in the tendency towards overkill and they didn’t really know their victims.

Thank You for sharing this beautiful woman’s life. She is a brave angel and deserves our attention and respect. I believe that the vile fool who did this has been treated far better than the precious lady and mother whose life he so callously took.
Very well put. She sounds like a wonderful person.
@@jasonhanks8258 Brave, I don't know... kind of unfortunate maybe.
Very sad.
Growing up in America in 50's our doors were unlocked during day. I always lock mine these days.

My heart goes out to her family members who had to see the crime scene photos all over the front page. The newspaper should be ashamed of themselves.
Actually, you may be right . But not showing faces/names.
Ppl are so desensitized to crime 🙄
True.
No, I feel you're incorrect, little kids can see the papers, they would just be mentally scarred and dont deserve that.
Cops are stupid.
Cops are dumb
My god what a horrific murder one of the worst I've heard of.

You do a beautiful job of always remaining impartial and as a good journalist or story teller what ever you call yourself I only know that every video I have watched of yours so far has always been done with respect for the victims.
Premeditation means that he very likely wasn't mentally ill. 😡

Violent crime usually always points back to a person's childhood upbringing.
watching crime cases makes me extra vigilant and its a habit that before I go to sleep regardless how tired I am, I check all my doors are locked and windows at safety lock. Many crimes happen because criminals get in through unlocked doors and windows...
I do the same thing because I don't trust people...I even make sure that the alarm is on.
How odd that this clip appeared in my feed this evening.I rem seeing that copy of the National Enquirer in a local drugstore's magazine section in the 1960s.My cousin was visiting from out of town and we were in the store looking for comic books to purchase. We saw the headline on the NE cover and just looked at each other and couldn't believe what we had just read.So disturbing. The guy who killed this lady is a depraved individual.

There are so many people missing all over the world especially children . After finding out how many British children were missing a British reporter went to America to find out how many children were missing . He was told there were so many children missing that they didn’t know exactly how many and the reporter should go to state to state to find out , which is what he did .
