What a MONSTER. I hope he ROTTS in prison. As for his wife, what a lowlife POS, she is no better than he is. R.I.P. to all the innocent victims of this evil demon.😢
Intrinsically evil people without any evidence of a conscience are also usually guilty of other ‘actions.’
I was wondering whike this played, “how many other victims did he leave in his wake that he didn’t get caught, connected, or didn’t confess to?”
Then there’s the thought I often have when ‘first personing’ when I hear these stories: why is it so common these evil people always get reported as having “described in detail” the intricacies of their crimes? Because if “I” did something like that I couldn’t face myself in the mirror. I suppose that is the difference between myself being ‘normal’ and the depraved criminal monsters who somehow arrive at a place in their head where doing something horrific like this can actually happen. It makes no sense to us because we can’t imagine even taking the first step in these crimes, never mind concocting the rest of it all.
@@fishhuntadventureAGREED. I'm almost positive he's left far more victims in his wake. He's just from hell. And he will be going back there. 💀
He murdered their parents in front of them and then kept them alive for a week before deciding to murder them aswell he was a sadistic bastard
Not to mention the 'other' things he did to them -repeatedly.
i just can't imagine the HORROR. those 2 girls!!! my god!!
And sexually assaulted them during that time!
And "he deserves a second chance". What a ridicilous statement from his sicko of a wife.
Yes he sure was a sick perverted Bastard, this is what the death penalty is for but sadly not in Canada.
The woman married a homicidal child rapist & thinks she should be telling others how to view her husband? Since his crimes are ok with her, she's cut from the same cloth as him. She'd never turn him in if he got out & did it again, so, they're both monsters!
What a horror for those two young girls; to have that man’s face the last human face they would see in their brief lives. Second Degree?! That is an insult to the dead whom he willingly, knowingly murdered. His wife’s assumption that he deserves a second chance because his heart is in the right place is a prime example of the absurdity of denial. He has no heart. This man should never be let loose on the public again.
His wife Heather deserved a brain but obviously she didn't get one. When she heard his name she should have kept walking.
I agree with most here he needs to stay in prison for life, his wife definitely needs her head checked if she thinks this sadist monster should be forgiven & get a second chance . He killed 6 people he has only one to pay for it. The wife is as crazy as her good for nothing creepy husband !
The lady that married that monster… what’s wrong with people??
Some people will not care if a man is a murderer and rapist, so long as he helps pay the mortgage and takes her out to dinner sometimes (though there's welfare in Canada, more generous than the US - I grew up in Toronto - and plenty of women raise kids on it...not without struggles but, better than loving rapist-murderers, I'd think).
We can't truly know. Perhaps he was charismatic and charmed her? Groomed her even? The attraction to convicted criminals is a thing most of us will never comprehend 🤷🏽♀️
@@AthyDuGardSomeone must have such low self esteem, and self worth, to fall in love with a loser like this guy..The woman is just as dangerous and should be in an mental hospital
Wow... his new wife sounds like she's probably just as sick as he is.
I'm from Western Canada, and this case was widely reported. It should be noted that this POS had previously killed a drunken man that had wandered onto the highway. He hit the man, then repeatedly ran over him going back and forth over his body. I believe this case wasn't solved until POS confessed.
If his heart is in the right place, it would seem the rest of us have our's in the wrong place. He's a dangerous, reckless murderer that needs to be kept away from society for the safety of the public.
25 years for 6 or 7 people's lives? This and what he did to those little girls... this is where I believe in the death penalty. I have a hard time believing that this kind of person can be rehabilitated and there's not usually much of that going on in jails/prisons anyway. The Lord can definitley forgive & forget but there should be major consequenses on this earth... not to mention the protection of others.
@@christinadulworth3175 Canada hasn't had the death penalty in decades. However, just because someone is eligible for parole, doesn't mean they will ever get parole, as is seen in this case.
I agree with you that there are people who cannot be rehabilitated and cannot be in society. I'm not sure the death penalty is the answer.
For his wife saying he deserves a second chance. Seriously after killing those innocent people and abusing those little girls, she is a woman instead of sympathizing with the victims she instead thinks it's no big deal. The husband deserves a second chance my foot, For shame lady for shame.
To hell with a 2nd chance he deserves to rot for the rest of his life and what does it say about his wife that she knew about what he did and still decided to marry him and who the hell does she think she is by saying he deserves a 2nd chance when he snuffed out a family including children in cold blood what about their lives that he brutally stole from them shame on her
I live in Kelowna, and I was here when all this happened. Thank you for showing our story. It was horrendous.
If anyone deserved the death penalty its this evil monster. The 2 young girls .. unimaginable the horror they went through. Not only witnessing the murders of their grandparents and parents then a week long of being SA by this man.
As for the wife marrying him after murdering 6 innocent people you are so delusional.
Rest in Peace 🕊️ To the 6 family members 🙏🙏🙏
Canadian justice often has more love for criminals than for victims. Speaking as someone who grew up in Toronto.
@@WangMingGe sad
This devil should be serving SIX life sentences in prison. The woman who married him is disgusting.
Your podcasts are so fascinating to a geography buff (me). I often look up the places, that you discuss. Thank you for your amazing research.
How horrific, to wipe out 3 generations in one family! I shudder to think of the fear of those two young girls last days.
May this poor family rest in peace.
Thank you for another great video. You handle these tough topics very respectfully.
Thank God his parole has been denied ! What an evil man !
Hope he rots in jail
Random but I feel like we need to give props to mushroom hunters. So many cases i have heard of them unintentionally helping finding victims bodies.
I've heard that many times also in addition to game hunters.
Not only was this case absolutely devastating, but there was a chance that the girls could have gotten away. They sounded like a lovely family who really enjoyed each other's company only to have been horrifically robbed of their lives.
💔😥💔
If you're held captive by someone that you know has killed others, you must realise it is only a matter of time before he kills you. If anyone else comes near that could help you, then you have to take that chance to escape as it will probably be your last.
His wife saying he deserves a second chance is hilariously VILE. It makes me wonder if she was invovled in some way.
So terribly sad! What kind of woman could MARRY a man like this!!???
The same kind that married Ted Bundy and had a baby with him. 🤦♀
A lonely soul.
A very self-righteous and greedy lady.
Hybristophilia is a real thing, not considered a mental illness. There's no empirical research from a scientific perspective. If you're really interested, there's a book by a journalist called _Women Who Love Men Who Kill_
Possibly one that suffered persistent abuse as a child. It is often the case that victims marry abusers. I'm not saying that excuses her views.
He should never be released!!!
Was any reason given by the prosecutors office for why he was charged with second degree instead of first (or whatever the Canadian equivalent is)?
Surely the girls murders should fit the criteria for first degree!
An excessively liberal justice system (I studied criminology at university in Toronto....it was often depressing, learning about horrendous cases and seeing how sympathetic officials were to the monsters who committed the offences, but, so it is).
First time being early to one of your videos. I enjoy watching them as they are always so informative, and respectful. Keep up the good work Dark Curiosities 😊
That monster should never get out his wife is deluded his heart is in the right place?!! wow. Thank you DC a very sad case.
My deepest condolences to the families, friends, loved ones and colleagues of the, Johnson-Bentley families. May their souls rest in eternal peace. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Such evil people in this world man.
I grew up the street from the Johnson Bentley Memorial swimming pool and athletic center in the Okanagan, British Columbia, they have huge murals of him and his family and all of his life story in poster/ newspaper and old articles
What a horrific case. Well researched and presented as always DC.
I would say his heart is indeed in the right place. In jail.
*prison
I hope a special spot in hell is reserved for this monster.
Oak-ah-nog-ann, but I knew what you mean. I need to visit the Okanagan one day, I've only ever driven thru it. Shearing was an absolute ghoul for doing this to that lovely, innocent family and to those girls!
Its more like Oak-a -nog -an. The a* is continual . I grew up just from the Johnson Bentley Memorial athletic centre
I currently live in Kelowna, grew up in Peachland, and was absolutely here to "um, actually" the pronunciation-- @dandecande is right on the money
@@Kadi_FedorukI was contemplating making a similar comment on another recent case about an Australian town that everyone pronounces phonetically. But in the end I didn't because, you can't blame them for thinking that's how it's said. It's a crappy town, anyway 😅😅😅
@@AthyDuGardBut one can and should Google the pronunciation, especially when making a widely viewed video publicly available.
Isn't that how she pronounced it?
9:20, that's David at 24 years old? He looks A LOT older than that!!
Booze, drugs and smoking maybe?
@@WangMingGe I did all that leading up to that age but still looked my age.
he looks so evil
May this family rest in peace. Their murderer should never see the light of day.
He should NEVER be released. A monster.
Thanks for telling story of that family.
Why would there be ANY question of parole, EVER?
Shocking. In a group of six I'd have felt safe, too.
No. He deserves to stay in prison. He is still young enough to do this again, if let out!
This is where I've lived my whole life and I've never heard of this, we even have a public pool called Johnson-Bentley Memorial center but I never knew why! I literally only clicked on this because I was like, hmm I wonder if this is related? 🤯
this is why I don't go camping
They had whole lives ahead of them. Such a shame
Canadian here - it’s actually pronounced “Oak-ah-nog-in”. Great video!
What a horrendous excuse of a human, monsters really do walk amongst us.
This was inconceivable in 1982 and what he did was horrific.
I have seen this case covered before, a truly horrific crime. Just a shame that some of the U.S. are the only ones in the area with the death penalty.
It’s really not used that often, and if it is, it takes so long, 30-40 years at times. A lot of times the people die naturally before their date comes up. It’s sad in a way, because I feel like some of the victims don’t get full closure.
@@marleylove510meanwhile the taxpayers have to pay for the scum while they sit in there
The US has a far higher homicide rate than Canada, so maybe it isn't such a good idea.
Never getting out.
Damn the pronunciation police are everywhere. Do you not realize different accents have different vowel inflections. smh
So does your name rhyme with base or, more probably, ass?
This monster must never be allowed out of prison.
What a horrific crime!
He is where he needs to stay.... period!! His wife just wants him home with her. If the shoe was on the other foot, she wouldn't be screaming for him to get out. He chose his sentence. Anyone can change, doesn't mean that they shouldn't serve the consequences of their actions. Also, he raped the girls. He needs to stay.
His wife is a very stupid Woman.
If he were to get out, she would be his next Victim.
That dude is a clear and present danger to the Public - he should never be released under any circumstances.
1- Make a wholesome series
2- Cover Fred Dibnah's story
3- Make it a 3 parter
4- you're welcome
It wouldn't fit her channel, but, you know, I think her voice would be really great for it.
Just love your wee voice ((accent) ❤️❤️❤️❤️, even though I hate unsolved events, I love listening to you x x x
Jeez, I'd never heard of this case. I live in the city near the prison where he's at 😱
Condolences 💐
Great video, I enjoyed it immensely ..
Wow, I used to live in the Okanagan and I've never heard about this case before!
That poor family. What a horrible person.
Oak-a-noggin is the best way I can explain how to say Okanogan.
Thank you DC🙏🕊️🦌💔
He killed three generations which included two teens he should never see the light of day. RIP!
What an appalling case! His wife needs her head examining. I hope he will never be freed.
I am curious what your sources are?
I've looked into this myself:
The Families had been camping there previous summers and befriended David and company.
The mushroom picker "tip" came after SEARCHES done in area car was found.
It was summer and the vehicles could not have been burned at locations found - smoke.
The "remains" found in the trunk of the car were "very little" and were assumed to be the girls.
Locations of vehicles found in Park area were too far apart to have been placed by just one (1) person.
Complaints surfaced that David Shearing was / is treated well in jail. An odd thing for a sexual predator / killer. It is attributed to his family and family connections in CORRECTIONAL SERVICE.
DAVID SHEARING was arrested in Tumbler Ridge, BC and driven to Kamloops without restraints and in the front seat of the RCMP cruiser.
It was NOT a one man job. It was a conspiracy.
🙏
Call him, 'it,' not ... david ...!
Shearing was only 24 when he slaughtered these innocent people?! He looked way older than that. Hopefully he never gets out on parole. I want him to spend the rest of his life in prison. His wife is an absolute deranged weirdo. Idk what lies he's been telling her but he doesn't deserve a second chance after cruelly taking the lives of 7 people.
Wow the Canadians are just nuts to give this guy 25 yrs. What an insult, that he can try for patrol.. murderer of 6 and child rapist..
How was this second degree murder?
Sigh.
Horrible thanks for telling the story of the family
Never heard of this case, but got an immediate sense it was going to be some Deliverance-type thing. Sadly I was right.
Did she say this guy was 24 years old??? Looks about 42 years old.
So, his heart must be in hell then because that's where it belongs. No one...NO ONE who murders a family, also SAs two girls, should EVER be let free. How can he ever be trusted not to see someone or something else that he wants and decides to take it? Canada is just too easy on sentencing. I am against the d3ath penalty but I am all for life in prison for international murders. RIP Johnson and Bentley family members.
So sad…. They a hard working family can’t go camping…. without losing their lives
The man is in prison, along with the his heart, so his wife is arguably correct, that his heart _is_ in the right place, in prison, where it should remain for the rest of his life.
I love 💖 80s a lot but some things were not so great back then, under surface of normality.
Love your channel.
Tell ya what... The day that whole family gets a 2nd chance, we can talk about HIS 2nd chance! 🤬💯
You are absolutely 💯 % are correct about that!!!!
Terrible to hear but happy they got justice.
Why second degree? SMH
Because it's Canada, and being very liberal and soft on criminals is a way for the educated urbanites who make most of the criminal justice policy to feel virtuous and progressive (I'm a graduate of Criminology, Toronto Metropolitan University....fascinating subject, but always depressing to see how light some of the most monstrous criminals are treated).
Just to clarify..Oak-a-nog-an.
Looked rough for 24
Had a hard life...
His victims had it a heck of a lot harder...@@DirtySanchez943
No chance for a monster full stop!
A reward for simply locating a truck was 750k???!?
Because the truck was believed to be the biggest clue to finding the killer.
How many times have you heard of a wife being shocked to find out her husband was a killer, right? And here’s this gal who’s never even lived with the pos, never seen him in different situations, no life experiences together proclaiming she knows his heart and deserves a second chance. Give me a break.
His wife must be crazy He should stay locked up for the rest of his life
😢😢
So sad
This is why you never go camping unless you are armed. Six people lost their life like at a shooting gallery or shooting monkeys in a barrel. If the grandfather and father had been armed they could have stopped it or at least defending their family and themselves
Monster
Let me get this straight.... He murdered SIX people including 2 young girls whom he raped over the course of the week, and got 25 to life? That's all?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I hope that Canadian judicial system at least has the decency to keep him locked up for the rest of his miserable life!
He’s probably got other victims out there.
He is a monster - evil to the core. A message to his wife - you will be the first person he'll muder if he ever gets released or escapes so watch out😮
The man's heart and body are in the right place in prison for life!!
🙏
😢
Omg…
Why use 1 word when you can use 20.
The look of David shearing gives me chills he clearly not a man i would have turned my back on or gone anywhere with he just looks Pure evil
It would really be pathetic if one man can control all them people no I think it was several
