Just another incident where a mother chooses a man over her own child. I will never understand how a mother can do that. You carry a child for nine months, suppose to guide, nurture, and protect that child. Instead you offer them up to a man? Men come, and men go, your kids are always your kids. This stepdad would have been castrated by me if he abused my child, and I’d sleep well at night knowing I did it. Start putting your kids first, moms. Your child’s life and wellbeing depend on it.

I instantly had bad feelings about Vince. How the heck does he take his dog for a walk, the dog slips the collar (which I can understand, it's happened to me) but I follow my dog, the entire time talking to him/her and I can get them to stay near me every time. Even on times when my dog initially chased a deer or a squirrel. Etc. So how could he just not care enough to call to his dog and try and coach it back to him when it's so cold out. Then it just so happened that his step daughter goes missing at the EXACT SAME TIME. Ya right. I would search intensely where he would walk his dog.

"Her hair was cut short at the time of her vanishing"
Young teenage girls cutting their hair short can be an indicator of abuse or assault.
After an assault as a teen in the 90s I cut off all my long hair, it had been used as a "weapon" against me and I didn't want that to happen again.
I also hoped to look less attractive and more tough, and changed to wearing more " Tomboy" clothes including borrowing my older brother's clothes.
Years later I discovered that drastic hair style changes for young teens are a warning sign.

Totally agree! Once they revealed that passage from her diary about how her step dad kissed her, it was obvious that it was her. As sad as it may be, he likely molested her and wrapped her up in the blue blanket and buried her somewhere, and then released his dog nearby to use as an alibi as to where he was during the timeframe when he wasn’t home (because he was disposing her body) then releasing the dog. I’m thinking maybe she threatened that she was going to tell her mother or authorities. Kind of makes sense since she was seen crying at her locker, and when asked what was wrong, she stated that she was okay, and that she would take care of her issue the following day. Then the following day she said she was sick, and stayed home, where her step dad was too. I think he tried to take things further and she tried to fight him off or said she was going to call the cops or her mom, so he killed her to silence her. I cannot fu€king believe that her mom stayed with the guy. She must be in total denial.. EVEN IF there’s no solid evidence that he killed her daughter, there’s definitely circumstantial evidence, and she must know about the diary entry her daughter wrote about the piece of sh!t kissing her daughter. Man. This world is so fu€ked up! Poor girl. She was just a child 💔

It's hard for me to have any respect for a woman who stays with a man, under suspicion of hurting/killing her child..It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he killed her, likely by suffocation, since there was no blood and she fought back which is why he had those scratches..He took her pillow because she may have vomited..I believe he was molesting her and she had finally got up the courage to either say no or threatened to tell..Either way,he was skating on thin ice..Who walks a dog for 30mins in freezing temperatures..? What's more likely is the dog was freaking out because he heard Rachel in distress and he realized that letting the dog outside would keep him from barking and also could be an excuse for why he'd left the house and didn't see Rachel leave..This case has always bothered me because it's so damn obvious what happened..😒

Women too. Evil stepmothers are scary too. Facts are mixed families have much higher rates of abuse compared to intact families. I’m not saying biological parents never abuse children, we know evil nut jobs exist everywhere. But we also know predators often look for desperate single parents just to abuse their children.
Be cautious and wary of anyone around your children. You can also have romantic relationships and not involve your children. I’ve dated men and never let them around my children unsupervised (without me there) or let a man move in when I had young children. I mostly had trusted family and sitters, never a boyfriend. Don’t be afraid to do background and google checks either! Protect your children at all costs! It boggles my mind that people leave their children with strangers they barely know. Never leave your children with a significant other you haven’t vetted and gotten to know extremely well. If they are pushing to meet your children, it’s a red flag.

So many mothers do this and it makes me so angry. They need jail time for bringing these perverts into their childrens lives.

So sad she had no-one to turn to. Horrible step-father and uncaring mother.

According to your documentary, I gather that she is deceased. Rachel was being sexually assaulted by her stepdad and became pregnant as a result of it.
Her stepdad suffocated her with her special pillow. He wrapped her in her favorite blanket. Then, he carried Rachel lifeless body into the woods on the walk with their dog to hide her body. He left the dog in the woods and went home to have a random alibi, or the dog wouldn't leave Rachel's burial site, so he left it, hoping the dog would eventually leave her.
As a detective, I would've immediately taken the family dog on a walk back through the woods. The dog probably would've led authorities right to her.
Her half siblings were too young to pay attention to any inappropriate behavior between Rachel and her stepdad because they were only approximately five and seven years old. Her mother stayed with the killer because she knew what had happened and didn't want to go to jail for it. That argument and restraining order was possibly the time that her mother found out about her daughter's abuse at the hands of her husband. The time Rachel ran away was to escape her constant episodes of sexual assault from her stepdad and not fear of being blamed for a broken item at home.
This is a sad case that may never be solved due to the lack of evidence. Hopefully, time and a guilty conscience will break the silence of her mother and / or stepfather, pushing them to tell the truth.

I wonder what allegedly happened, stepdad. 'Daddy Kisses'? Really?
Hopefully we'll get some good answers, DNA would be great. Wonderful, well-made video. Thanks for keeping her story out there. ❤️

My goodness, poor girl. Vince obviously did something to her/murdered her. I bet he was grooming her for quite some time.

The police failed Rachel, more should have been done to lay charges against the stepfather Vince.

Vince didn't go out on a half hour walk with the Shepard. This is metro Chicago. 20 below windchill is brutal and everyone in Da Town knows it. He let out the dog because the dog might have been protective of Rachel.
The cold is another character in this story. The police would not have been - or should not have been - Zen about a child wandering around in minus 20 windchill. Chicago winters can kill.
With the scratches, I think they had enough to go after Vince.
Poor Rachel. Sweet child. Grows up in Melrose Park and Bolingbrook, two depressing suburbs overweighted with losers like Vince, to say nothing of Drew. No offense to their Chambers of Commerce.

@@aye70aye I am so with you on the dog.
You have a dog in Chicago. It's minus 20 windchill. You say to him, as you are taking him to the porch: "it's really cold out there! Do your business! Quick! Quick"!
Bless the creatures they are dogs, not casualty actuaries. They are oblivious. They run down. They start sniffing around as usual. It hits them in about 40 seconds, mas o menos depending on the breed. Then they do the business and run madly up the stairs. It is criminally culpable to leave a dog outside for hours in that weather. Even a 30 minute walk would be cruel & crazy.
Hey, it's Chicago. The city doesn't shut down, the Bears play. But everyone is protective of dogs kids & seniors in that kind of cold.
The man told nothing but lies.

@@1rjbrjb Absolutely he did, I hope he got the dog removed from him but doubt it. I'm British and we just don't have winters like that! My hubby is American and used to go to North Western Uni and has told me how awful it can get there. Wow if we get snow in the U.K, the world stops for it! Schs close, everyone works from home, nothing opens or runs. He thinks it hilarious 😂

Why wouldn’t the police press on Vincent? He is the only person that had a motive to hurt that innocent child making it extra obvious when he leaves. It’s so infuriating that the “mother” even decided to stay with that gross pos…they need to try to press on the mom too because she knows for sure what he’s capable of, sad to say that she probably doesn’t wanna turn on him because he’s most likely threatened to hurt her as well…sickening…

Pretty disgusting that the mother stayed with the prime suspect. 😱😭 I could NEVER, I'd be in jail for killing him after they found that disgusting book! Makes me think she may know what happened as well, because otherwise how could she stand by him!?! 🤢
