  • This instructional video is designed to guide you through the complete process for removing your OEM headlights, removing the front bumper cover (not as scary as it sounds) and install your new SPYDER headlights. This how-to tutorial walks you through the process from beginning to end.

    I ordered a set of these (with the additional HID kit) and installed just the headlight assemblies today on my 2008 Honda Civic EX 2 door. Next weekend I will try to install the HID kit (which is needed not only for the HID bulbs but also to make the halos work). Keep reading, much more info...
    If you buy the set that includes the HID kit, what may not be obvious is that you can install in two stages, which may be necessary. Read on. The HID kit can be installed later once you figure out how to wire it properly. These headlight assemblies themselves (not including the HID kit) include 2 bulbs on each side, one for low beam (that shines thru the projector), the other for high beam. You reuse your turn signal light bulbs.
    The extra wires coming from these new assemblies (to be used later for the HIDs and halos), I just taped temporarily with packing tape to the backs of the headlight housings until I install the HID kit later. Maybe not a concern, but I made sure none of the exposed wire ends were touching each other when I taped them to the backs of the headlight housings. What this video doesn't tell you is that it definitely makes the job easier if you also remove your aluminum bumper; 3 bolts on each side, no big deal. Just be sure to secure it properly back in place and put back the black styrofoam bumper padding.
    I did this first stage install today and test drove tonight. The low beams are a lot brighter and have better coverage than my stock ones, and high beams work great also. I had to adjust the up / down position for both low and high beams on both sides. I still need to adjust left / right for the low beams. To be fair, the lenses on my old headlights were very hazy, but even so, the bulbs seemed pretty dim. Driving at night was a little sketchy and I didn't want to blind oncoming traffic with my high beams. Visibility and coverage is sooooo much better now, and I don't even really need to install the HID kit; but I will at least research it more to see how it is done properly for my model vehicle and will likely give it a shot.
    The HID kit includes, per side, a harness with an HID bulb, ballast, and additional wiring that, once you figure out how to connect everything properly, will result in you having the HID bulb thru the projector and will also power the led halos.

    Tip: After removing the bumper fascia, also pull off the styrofoam absorber. This piece was not on the car in the video. The absorber simply stays on the bumper frame with two posts - no fasteners. By doing this you'll have easier access to the third headlight bolt (see video at 2:15).

    Where do I wire my halos onto?? Your other video says onto the orange bulb but that doesn't come on for driving? Should I wire them to my low beams that come on when I start driving or what?

  • @tbui007
    @tbui007 6 лет назад +2

    Unfortunately, the way they want you to wire the halo, it doesn't come on as DRL. It only acts with headlight use for night time driving. I was hoping it functions exactly light DRL.

      i use them to DRL, just wire the halos to the DRL that are the blinkers!

    I wish aftermarket companies produce an OEM look projector headlights without having the corny ricey look the LED's/Halos give.

      +Mark you can choose not to wire the halos so they don't light up

    • @Limitbreakur
      @Limitbreakur 8 лет назад +2

      I agree, that halo around the projector looks very corny. Your civic does not magically turn into a BMW if you have them, it merely makes you look like you're trying too hard.

      Spyder Auto I bet you 100000% make a projector headlights with no halos or led just low beam projectors, I'm sure it will sell out way more. When that time comes, I would be your 1st customer. Thanks for the response. I really hope that you guys come up with a simpler design just like oem. Many of us are waiting.

    • @spyderauto
      @spyderauto  8 лет назад

      +nobodyreadthis we use H1 bulbs for both high and low beams on these lights. they can accept PIAA H1 or any other mainstream brand H1 bulbs.

    second pair of spyder headlights and they're doing the same thing every time. The half halo around my driver side headlight keeps going out. Spyder please advise!

      The bright ccfl halos work perfectly. It's the less draining half moon dull led that doesn't work. Diagnosed as defective but spyder will not do anything except point me in the direction of the company I bought them from.. Will never buy spyder again, very disappointed.

    how long does the extension bar need to be.
    I got 3" bar, hoping it's good enough. don't wanna open up the everything and be stuck not being able to open one bolt.

    • @spyderauto
      @spyderauto  10 лет назад

      A 3" extension will not be long enough to reach the bolt. You will need at least a 6" extension rod to reach the bolt.

    • @spyderauto
      @spyderauto  11 лет назад

      this halo is sort of unique in that it's a halo but it's kind of cut off to make an incomplete circle.
      also, you could also just not wire the halo in.

    hey, I bought these headlights and after a few months of using them one of the half circle halos around the high beam started flickering and then later completely died, and then after a while the other half circle halo did the same thing. now only my low beam halo works.
    why does the halo flicker? the wiring is fine cuz all the halos are connected together to the same wire. is there a common reason for this? and is there a fix or is the light source for the halo given up?
    please reply and let me know, i've tried searching online but haven't found anything on this. thanks.

      I've been doing research on these halo lights and I've noticed there have been some complaints that they flicker and die out. And also they are not as bright as the stock lights that came with the car. I decided not to get these anymore.

    • @kami123000
      @kami123000 8 лет назад

      Yea that's a smart decision these Halos are not visible during daytime at all. but even without the halos not working the smoke look with projectors makes the car look very nice especially since my car is a dark colour.

    • @VCURAMS
      @VCURAMS 6 лет назад

      Cameron Rodriguez same issue here. Half halos died. Replaced the lights and it happened again. Replacing the bulbs once they're dead is a nightmare. The light itself is stupid dark and dangerous. Spyder customer service was a good laugh. What I got out of it is that I can rip my front end of my car in 10 minutes now. #downtoascience
