If you watch the video carefully the biker looks like he's turning left, truck driver saw that and decided to keep going. He braked immediately after the biker changed directions otherwise the biker would've been dead.
You have to give way on roundabouts if your entering one, rider was already going round, the lorry driver was at fault but like the driver stoped right away so the rider kinda over reacted to follow him and get his plate, i wouldve just put my hand up nodded and rode off, assuming he apologised and noticed his mistake
It's also legal in other countries but at the same time, that is also the source of a lot of videos about motorcycle spills and accidents on RUclips. Especially in cases where there is a traffic jam, some biker is coming up the stripes of the highway at decently fast speed, and then some car pulls into another lane to try to change his fortune at getting out of bad traffic. I agree that it "looks" idiotic but it serves a purpose. Firstly though I'd like to state that theres a difference between lane "splitting" and lane "filtering". Splitting is moving between the lanes of moving traffic. This can be considered "dangerous" when done incorrectly and inconsiderately. Filtering is moving between the lanes to the front of an intersection because of a red light. This is usually done to avoid being rear ended or to get away from large groups of cars faster at a green light to avoid having to lane split. They both have their pros and cons. And to a person in a car it would seem like cheating or cutting line. But it's all done (when done correctly) for the safety of the rider.

If you watch the video carefully the biker looks like he's turning left, truck driver saw that and decided to keep going. He braked immediately after the biker changed directions otherwise the biker would've been dead.
You have to give way on roundabouts if your entering one, rider was already going round, the lorry driver was at fault but like the driver stoped right away so the rider kinda over reacted to follow him and get his plate, i wouldve just put my hand up nodded and rode off, assuming he apologised and noticed his mistake

I agree that it "looks" idiotic but it serves a purpose. Firstly though I'd like to state that theres a difference between lane "splitting" and lane "filtering". Splitting is moving between the lanes of moving traffic. This can be considered "dangerous" when done incorrectly and inconsiderately. Filtering is moving between the lanes to the front of an intersection because of a red light. This is usually done to avoid being rear ended or to get away from large groups of cars faster at a green light to avoid having to lane split. They both have their pros and cons. And to a person in a car it would seem like cheating or cutting line. But it's all done (when done correctly) for the safety of the rider.
