This is exactly what I needed. When I picked up the game DVJ was a character I was always interested in learning, but I wasnt sure where to even begin. Neutral, gameplan, gimmicks, ect. This is fairly streamlined and its just as useful as the 1hr + long guides, in a fraction of the time and not nearly as convoluted
I'm new to Tekken, yellow ranks so this stuff will come in handy much later on because my execution is really bad right now. Still very well done, thank you good sir.
at 3:00 the short "instant" hellsweep is so dangerous to throw out. I'd say mine gets blocked 60%+ of the time regardless of speed . . .and the nerfed spacing makes it extra risky.
the oki tip was great. i often give up oki when i definitelly shouldnt because i'm too scared of getting clipped. any tips on countering their options consistently?
Funny enough, i was about to start ranked with devil jin after getting into a certain ranked with Jin, this video appeared in my recomendations lol thx dood i just wanna know how to do wavu into While Standing 2
you have 3 frame window to input it so this is the input window looked like f n d df n n n, you can input b2 on either of those last 3 frame and you'll get ws2, so the notation should look like f n d df n b2 n, it's hard to do but once you get the feels and the timing of ur wave I'm sure you can do it pretty much consistently
Nice video. I also like to use db1+2, the fully charged gives a guardbreak and some people panic and end up pressing into it. The fully charged version also tracks a bit, and you can cancel into MCR, so it's a pretty good move with lots of utility. Just have to be a bit careful if someone's in rage as they might rage art and catch you with it.
Nice guide, but for poking u shouldve also mentioned D3 and laser scraper. Those are really good tools to poke with especially laser scraper since its a good mid check, has better range compared to t7 dvj laser scraper, and tracks both ways unless you lili. D3 is a decent poke because u can use to poke safely, check peoples low block timings (for future opportunities to hellsweep), and you can space your opponent out with it. On counter hit, it is +7 as well and if you do it at tip range no one can punish it. If they try to ws4, you can whiff punish with ewgf
Yes you’re right but the tips I used here but the tips I used here were meant for rush down purposes. I really wanted to emphasize the use of ch db2 because it leads to a knockdown that can set up a 50/50 for Devil Jin I also have an upcoming video that’ll go more in depth about the optimal usage of laser scraper
It’s a very similar idea you have to apply cursed energy within a very small window before the hit and for the electric you have to press 2 and df within one frame together. Jjk actually pays a lot of homage to tekken you have panda, sukuna having similar design lines to devil jin, black flash electric, yuji’s dad was actually named Jin which is funny based on the stuff based on recent chapters, the William sisters/ maki and Anna, it keeps going 😂
100hours with DJ on tekken 8 ps5 using a controller and still haven't hit one EWGF on purpose, genuinely is one of the most insane timing moves to hit, can do it on a fight stick a lot more consistently though Its been 10 days since I left this comment and I managed to hit 2 last night, wiring my brain to act a split second faster with 1 finger is insanely hard to describe but I can feel it when it works if that makes sense 😅
@@Dallas4090you can mash the fnddf (dont even need the down input) input to get ewgf on reina and kaz, but on dj and jin you have to the input properly
Playing on a controller is much easier than on a fight stick, doing ewgf by itself is nothing. Electrics are only as good as your movement, and movement is much harder to get down on fight stick vs a controller. Controller tbh is an easy and accessible way to play the game vs fight stick, hence why like 90% of the community uses it. It's the peripheral that comes with the console.
@@quinnquinnquinn215you cannot "mash" the input. Reina and Kaz have access to the 13 frame electric, which allows them to skip the down, or neutral input for electrics. This is because they have mist steps (When you tap forward they have a unique movement option) it can be easier to do electrics when in a standing position with these characters, but during a wavu electric, proper input has to be done, as well as when moving around to bait whiffs and doing a dash electric, the proper input has to be done. There is no "mashing it out" involved lol
Unless you want Reina who is objectively better, Kaz and DJ are both in the same boat. Lots of new tools, damn shame you need to already be god level to use those tools at higher level. Outside of that, there is a lot more scrub skill checks on devil Jin making him easier to pilot like Reina in lower to mid levels of play. This is where Kaz is shit outta lick cause even low to mid Kaz kit only works if you can electric consistently and off timing. Doesn't mean they are not worth picking up cause being capable of piloting a Mishima will always leave you with new skills and tech to try while playing non-mishimas
Dvj is just outside of top tier imo. He's really good. Like maybe 8th-10th place. But thats if you can use a mishima. I think he's the second best mishima behind reina, with Jin following closely behind.
@@Lassi-q9w if you mean the game technically its more complex but it has had some tweaks to allow new players to also enjoy the game with relative ease.
@@SolusFather it's steppable but same as electrics in t7 unless u perfectly get timing right u can never side step it, also there is push back for a move that is - 9 makes it almost 0 on block, no brain required to throw the move and covers massive range. Literally they fked dj and Jin made both characters from fun to fight to playing 2D game that's in their favor because how dum and literal 1 brain cell required to make these characters work. (back then u would use proper poking to make ur opponent respect the 50/50 now just heat burst and ff2 all day to make them start respecting skill went to grounds anu retard can pick these characters now and do well)

Electric looks and is like a black flash. Hitting one is random but if you land it it raises your potential to 120%
Huh? There is zero randomness to EWGF
