Mine is a 70 SS Shadow Gray and has the rallies with BF Goodrich TA's and a 450 HP 454. All done clean, and lopey cam. Sits about an inch lower than stock and is one bad hot rod. That is the only way to go on a 70 Monte.

I wonder if it would have been easier to keep the stock rear end for a smoother ride and just roll and remold the rear fenders. I have a 465 horsepower Crate engine in my 70 monte and I'm afraid to go with a shorter G-body rear end just to put on the rear fender skirts though they look great. That car has too much power. I don't want to fish tale all over the place when I excelorate.

Currie makes a 78-88 GM G-Body 9-inch rear end that I'm thinking about buying. They give you the choice of 11" inch drum brakes or 11" Inch Explorer disc brakes. I would love to use disk brakes but I'm not sure if they will work with my 14x7" 72 spoke reverse cross laced China's. I haven't even seen a disc brake kit that works exclusively for 13" & 14" wire wheels for a 1970 Monte Carlo. ABS makes lowrider kits but they are only for Impalas.

@@RC-90605 you have to weld new mounting plates for spring placement, since G body sits in top of rear end and Monte is in front. Easy to get done then use G body top trailing arms.
What exact springs and shocks are you running on that set up? And what did you do about the brake lines? I’m considering swapping to a g rear to run 14x7 wires but then I'm worried that I’ll have a really sunk look if I were to swap back to 15x7 rallys.
@@charlieebn9809 I used stock springs and air shocks for now, until I install hydraulics. Brake line uses the same t mounted on top rear end and same line coming from Monte Carlo. I might just make a video on showing how I did it. I have Monte Rear end
I bought it if my brother Inlaw because I liked the body style. Not planing on getting ride of it, but I hear you resale value is not as hi as other cars.

It was a 81 Monte Carlo but any gbody rear end will work
