- Welcome back to the Universal Orlando Resort! In today's video, we are going to be taking a look at a full ride POV from Skull Island: Reign of Kong. This is the official King Kong attraction currently located at Universal's 'Islands of Adventure Park.
This ride takes place on a trackless ride vehicle that takes you through incredible sets and an amazing 360 3D screen. The end of the ride is capped off with a spectacular full sized animatronic of King Kong! You will encounter many different predators on your adventure including dinosaurs, bats, and more. Will King Kong be your enemy or your ally? Find out in this Full attraction POV!

It's not a bad one for sure. Whenever the virus is behind us and you can get out to Orlando I would recommend it!
Only once in 2016, but I haven’t ridden it since because while I was in the line, these hands were reaching out at me and it scared me to death! If it didn’t do that, I would love to ride it again one day!

It's honestly hilarious to me that the best part of this ride isn't even the ride part, but getting to look at the advanced animatronic at the end. The queue and facade is more fun to look at and walk through than the ride itself, really wish we could've gotten more stuff like the bats at the very beginning between the simulation segments to make you feel like you're actually at Islands of Adventures rather than an escaped Studios ride.

Sadly, most people don't get a good look because they don't think to take off the glasses. In fact, I wonder if everyone realizes it's a real animatronic....

Yeah but it's way better than Fast and Furious SC. At least they plussed it over the Hollywood original with AAs and more scenes, unlike FFSC. For me it's not the best but it's still a good ride.
It's kind of funny how they removed Kongfrontation to put in The Mummy. Then 15 years later they open up a new Kong ride that's not as good as a ride built 30 years ago

Also based on the old IP they should’ve waited a year or two and kong: skull island would’ve been out and the ride could’ve been a tie in - not great planning

Really, it's the Kong animatronic at the end that makes it all worth it. At the very least, I can say that I saw King Kong at Universal.

Without the animatronic, you might as well see it on the tram tour in Hollywood. But that animatronic is sooooo worth it! It’s crazy real!

Not a fan of the screens but Universal really outdid themselves with this ride's animatronics and props. Wish there could've been more of that. Que is tons of fun though!

The queue line was the only thing that was entertaining and it freaked me out a bit. Then when you get in the ride.....oh no a big TV screeennnn -___-
This my kind of ride. I have bad vertigo and need "lame" rides. Something I can ride and not feel sick and dizzy on. Even Bluto's barge was almost too much for me.

Nothing could top the original King Kong ride
Anyone else skip forward past the stupid screens just to get to the animatronic? When are they going to learn that's what the people really want. Nothing impresses more than REAL LIFE figures. You can put anything you want on friggin' screens, but you get the real feel of the size and presence of the moving object, fake or not.
Also, wow seeing the upper half of his torso was so nostalgic for me. I never knew the ride had burned down back in the old days. I remember it so vividly and was sad to hear they replaced it instead of rebuilding it. Legends never die. ✊

That's what they are doing, even though the built a lot of screens rides and people were complaining before the last one opened, I think in 2018 was the last screen ride that they built so far. And one reason it might be like that is that it was probably already in development, and because of their promise to open at least one new attraction every year they didn't want to restart luckily Hagrids came later, and they probably started planning that after they received the complaints, oh and I should include not only Hagrids but Bourne and Velocicoaster.
Imagine two giant animatronics of Godzilla and Kong fighting it out?

I haven't been on this ride, but after looking at it I'm not impressed. Also I miss the Kongfrontation ride, and I feel like it's way better than this one because it made you feel like you were in New York City trying to escape from King Kong. Plus the special effects with the fire, the fake cop cars they had, the fire hydrant, the buildings, and the fact that you felt like King Kong was trying to destroy your ride while the ride drops down made it a very dope ass ride.
Plus, the animatronic was twice the size of that one, right ?

Loved that ride as a kid, it was terrifying & exhilarating all at once! My favorite parts were peeking around for the all the little details in the streets & apartments, like roller skates on a fire escape, TVs playing the news broadcasts & of course, Kong's banana breath! 🍌 I wish I could take my kiddo back in time to show him the original Universal Studios Orlando, he loves Back to the Future, Jaws, Beetlejuice & Ghostbusters movies & would be so psyched.

It’s just that universal had a chance to do something big with this attraction. A little bit of a letdown you know? To add insult to injury they just did a rip off of the KONG 360 at Universal in California almost same exact thing except they replaced the tram. It’s not a bad ride but it could’ve been so much better. Just saying. 👍🏾✌🏾

I was happy they brought king Kong back to Universal, but I much prefer it taking place in the city rather than skull island. I feel we have enough dinosaurs with Jurassic World section of the park. It would’ve been cool to have the setting more like the original ride.

This ride is judged to hard in my opinion it was amazing!
When I went to Universal Orlando, I nearly went on this ride, but since I had heard about there being jump scares in the queue, I decided not to.
I have always loved universal, I was born and raised in Florida, growing up my brother and I always got season passes to universal and Disney, fortunately I got to experience some of the greatest rides universal and Disney had to offer, unfortunately universal and Disney (more so universal) have been in my opinion taking the lazy approach to rides, I just can't get onboard with how they use basically giant TV's for everything...sorry about the long rant, losing the rides I grew up with as a kid is definitely heartbreaking
I personally like it bc I don’t like coasters, they have to try and accommodate to everyone. I prefer 3D / VR rides anyways which helps accommodate to people like me and then there’s tons of cool themed coasters for everyone else :)
Honestly I think Fisney started getting more lazy nd Unuversal picked themselves up with Hagrids, velocicoaster, secret life of pets, the new theme park in bejing, the one jurassic world ride in bejing and Hollywood, and with Epic Universe they are really picking themselves up, oh and also Bourne. So after 2018 they listened to everyone, because remember even though people were complaining before 2018, the rides were probably already in development, and now Disney us putting less effort, more screen, less animatronics, and less practical effects.
@@ChestneyChiller well sure, but screen rides just usually aren’t as immersive. Only a couple cases where they’re actually good. (Flight of passage, transformers and universal’s Spider-Man, and Star tours.)

Or make an actual good Kong ride instead of making us watch a fucking screen. I can't believe Universal did yet another stupid 3D simulator, the only good part of the ride was the animatronic at the end.
@@tricko8000 smart idea kong in islands of adventure and Godzilla in Epic universe this way the park would have a really good reason to be visited next to all the other attractions but I agree that rides aren't built like it used to be and we don't have as much animatronics as we did beforehand but I can say one or two things at least it's not as bad as fast and furious I think we can both agree that ride needs to go but as well if you look at Jurassic world the ride they added a bit more animatronics in but if we're really visiting the movies should we get the experience that were in one as well and not just cheaped out by screens that's the question they need to figure out
Warner bros owns the rights to the monsterverse version of King Kong so universal would have to make a deal with Warner brothers for the rights to Kong

The best ride by far hands down has always been Back to the Future. The fact that you got to jam to the music before always got me pumped! Bad bad move to out lame- o Simpson ride iin, really bad move, not to mention deception !!

Based on these comments I’m one of the few that absolutely love this ride! It’s funny because this ride is basically exactly the same as “Fast and Furious” and hate that ride. I absolutely love Peter Jackson’s 2005 King Kong movie so I’m biased haha

@@jerryosborne9982 I think Universal knows that its a disappointment and they know people are tired of 3D. Good news is they're going to build a drifting roller coaster based on Fast Furious and it looks pretty cool from the renderings. That's in Hollywood but Im not sure about Florida.

Was a very fun ride when it didn’t break down on me when I went on it for the first time in November haha got stuck right when the weird larva were taking over. Was cool tho to see with the lights all on with we evacuated

Skull Island: Reign of Kong in Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando is better. The King Kong ride in IOA is longer because the story of the ride is extended and there are more screens and special effects, and at the end of the ride there is a King Kong animatronic and it’s huge and so life like. I would definitely ride the one in Orlando.

Universal spent too much money on Hagrid's, so we get this bad Kong ride. This should've been like the jungle cruise except with more thrills.

The thing people might not think about in regards to the rides in the 2010's that utilized screens, they're cheaper attractions, sure, but just think about all the money that had to be put into the Potter sections in 2010 and 2014. It's no wonder any other new attractions during the decade we're screen reliant. When Hagrid's opened in 2019 it was like they were finally going full throttle again in regards to budget/creativeness/innovation. Then a new stunt show follows, then VelociCoaster. I think they're back to being in a good place overall in the Orlando parks. And now they're going ahead and replacing stuff like Shrek so that after Epic Universe opens people don't just shrug off the Studios park.
Could see the bus 5mins away in line and the ride broke down for the rest of the day on my birthday 2/17/22... At least we got a Single Admit Pass to skip any other ride line tho.

They got ride of the main jaws ride at universal and Florida and Hollywood. The tram tour jaws encounter at Florida our Hollywood and the jaws ride in universal studios in Japan our still running. Yet the most hated ride at the parks the fast and furious one is still operating. Ironically convent it is.
