Ok so I finally beat him, basically if you dismount your horse as he brings his hand down with the lock on lightning you get I frames and don't take any damages, so it's technically not impossible
Tip: When the second phase starts, you actually wanna stay on his weapon side, because he doesn't sweep anymore. You also bait him in doing a smash, which is easy enough to dodge. But more importantly you prevent him from doing his lightning smite.
Not sure why it’s different for me but yes he can still do the sweep and he one shots me with the smite when I run away from his aoe lighting Or the aoe slam I don’t understand how to kill it
Yup. Beat him first try since he didn't do a single lightning strike. I thought I got super lucky but no it's because I stayed on his weapon side and up close the entire fight while still managing to quickly react to the aoe lightning and run/roll back to dodge it (fighting alecto and trying to dodge imbued death helmsplitter really trained me to dodge "undodgable oneshot aoe attacks" like this and Malenia's by just keeping a bit of distance and immediately sprinting backwards when I see it.
It's amazing how cheap this boss is. Fromsoft usually kills it with boss design but every once in a while there's something like this that can one shot you when you have him at 10% health

@@dominicviner6619 I was level 66 30 vigor medium armor duel wield bleed build this boss wouldn't one shot me but it would combo me, which was basically a one shot when the attack would kill my horse and do 3/4 damage and then attack again before I could move. This is an actual bad boss design by fromsoft. The boss itself was cheese so I cheesed. I beat several bosses after him with far less trouble. Difficulty and artificial difficulty are two different things and even being a ds and fromsoft fanboy I will say that the Draconic Tree Sentinel is artificial difficulty.
I've almost killed this guy half a dozen times, and every single time, he uses lightning to 1 shot me. I absolutely hate all the 1 shot deaths on this game, but this boss is the worst for it. It's virtually impossible to dodge.

I'm fucking raging at it. As soon as he puts the shield down to cast the lightning I dodge, sometimes the dodge works just fines, sometimes it just doesn't. Fuck that, I never felt cheated in any From Software games. Anything was so dirty as this shield charge.
Learn poison mist incantation. Requires 12 faith. Sneak behind him and poison him. He doesn't move. Easiest method to defeat this boss and can be done so early in game. Will defo get patched.
Here's another method: use Rotten Stray, then get some free hits in the beginning, let him chase you so your dog can inflict that rotten effect, then run away from him until he goes back guarding the gate, and the effect is still there. Good luck, fellow tarnished.
AOE lightning isn't that bad. The homing lightning thing I think is much harder I think. With the AOE, depending on where you stand/luck you can actually keep attacking him during the entire animation and he just stands there doing nothing
I was able to get him down to about 15% HP multiple times but could never finish him off due to torrent dying from lightning then getting hit myself. I tried for about an hour with my first attempt almost killing him and the rest downhill. I just couldn’t get past the lightning wave he sends out it always killed me. Had to phone a friend.
For me, it is the EXACT same thing... I had 4 tries where he was on like 15% hp (all 4 tries at the exact same amount of hp) and then he kills my horse with the lightning and I die... I'm not sure if its a glitch, because I can notmally dodge them while sitting on the horse. Its only that SPECIFIC amount of hp where he hits me... Idk 😐
a good tip is when the horse shoots fire balls you can try and charge attack him because the horse has a little animation and also, if the horse shoots get close and when he uses his attack walk back on your horse and charge attack
Not sure if this will work for melee builds but for magic builds just jump on the big rock to the left of the gate way and stand near the little pillar and his melee AOE and fire ball cant touch you. When he charges up his red lighting all you need to do is hit him and it will disrupt his casting. That’s how I beat him after many failed attempts trying to take him head on as a mage
When he does the lightning into the sky, you can stop your horse and dismount, if you time it correctly you wont get hit at all. There is an invulnerability period when you get on and off your horse.
I’ve fought this boss upwards of 50 times and diminished his health to three quarter or lower I’m saying I’ve earned it and cheesing him with poison mist
When he starts to do his insta one hit lightning cheese, just rush him and make sure youre hugging his shield. You somehow dont get hit and you can get atleast 3 hits (meteoric katana for me)
I'm at level 62 with a +14 Weapon and can just about get him to half life. That electric bullshit is OP and I keep getting wasted everytime. Imo, this is the hardest boss I have come across so far, it's a fking chore:(

Anyone having trouble dodging the lightning attack, I did it on ground and dodged after a few seconds of him holding his shield up. Let me dodge the attack every time
Man something is definetely fucking broken about MY draconic tree sentinel. He plays like a pro souls player. When i try to get on his hield side, he directly turns and puts his axe on my head even if I'm trying to get on his hield side. Then when im stunned, he finishes me off. Same goes with electrical phase 2. He just can sense the moves im about to do. He predicts and does attacks according to my fucking moves. I just watched this video, and there is no such thing in this video.
took him down only on foot.dodge the fire and lightning,hit him only after he rushes u after his second hit,also very important on second phase stay close to him the lightning will kill him fast
this actually helped me out so much, i had no idea that using the horse would be better for it but then i used horse and beat him in 3 tries, thank you so much :D
I really struggled with this one. But when I came back with my lvl 7 mimic tear summon I absolutely destroyed this guy on my very first try. Actually, mimic tear is so mighty I felt bad about using it and will only use it if I'm completely lost from now on. One part of me even hates that there's something so powerful at my disposal at all, haha.
once he raises his sword to call down the lightning strike just dismount your horse. Roll the lightning strike when it lands and remount your horse to continue the fight

I still didn't beat this guy right now but here's a tips for you : When 2nd phase begin and big guy start to throw "undodgeable" thunder, notice his left arm (the one carrying the shield), when he rise it that means he's about to throw it's attack KEEP AN EYE on this arm while moving to left or right side, when it goes straight down press O to dodge to the side while moving, timing is short but you CAN dodge this shit
It took me 500+ attempts to beat him 😤. I didn’t use the mount just a straight up 1v1 with him using elenoras poleblade at plus 4. I wanted to beat it my way and it took so long but when I did it was the best feeling.
Ok so I have been stuck on this piece of garbage boss for what feels like forever and no strategy seemed to work for me except running around him in a counter clockwise motion (while on torrent)… chipping away at his health while keeping an eye on his wind ups. Don’t get greedy with landing hits as you need to be able to conserve your stamina for when you need to dodge an overhead/charged strike. - Also when he does that air strike lightning bullshit you need to circle around him in clockwise motion, you can tell his hoe ass is about to do one whenever he spits a fireball during phase two so I recommend always keeping close to him while also remaining vigilant for that mortar strike. Overall, this was such an infuriating boss fight and even though I finally defeated it it does NOT feel satisfying at all. Tree sentinels are truly my most hated enemy types in this game. The Draconic sentinel along with the double tree sentinels found earlier both have become major roadblocks in my Elden ring experience to the point that I’ve taken month(s) long hiatuses from the game due to sheer frustration. I have enjoyed the game for the most part but moments like these make me feel like the game is just too niche and a waste of time for the average consumer that isn’t a sweaty pimple faced unemployed nerd that has all the time in the world to devote to this game in order to feel competent.
This with the rot dog took me half the time and did it first try. After probably 50 tries the other way I was doing it. Thank you so much for this video!
I've been at this for about 3 hours. The horse through a 5 straight fireballs at me and lightning never misses. Straight almost broke my tv in frustration
The "problem" with this game Is that It Is unforgivable. It's not about getting the timing or whatever it's that a SINGLE mistake and you are dead. I killed It too Yesterday, but i used the poison trick
Finally did it! No summons, just sword. The key to that stupid “undodgeable” tracking lightning attack is to dismount Torrent in place right before it strikes. You get hella I frames and won’t hit you.

@@xbaloke yeah it works best when you're stationary and then dismount. as long as you dismount as soon as you see him bring the shield down the lasers should very rarely, if ever hit you. if you're playing on either PS4 or PS5 i could help you out
Just beat him on my faith build! First phase is relatively easy, just avoid his attacks with torrent then retaliate with a swing of your weapon of choice. Second phase I decided to abandon the horse, so that I can dodge the insta kill lightning bolt he preforms. The strategy I used was firing a black flame incantation at him after he does his instant lightning bolt move. You can tell when the lightning comes down when he shifts his shield down. Another opening for shooting him with a flame is directly after he does his overhead swing upon charging at you. You can just about sneak in a single fireball, but you have to roll out of the way immediately after, or you will most likely get fireballed to the forehead. Doing this along with sneaking in a few hits with my winged scythe finished the job. Just watch out for his AOE lightning slam, as well as his large swing that summons a wave of lightning, and you should do great. Just posting this for anyone struggling like i did 😌
Thank you for not making a video on how to cheese him. I watched the video about three times to learn his moves and then went in and beat him in three attempts. For the lightning that he shoots from the sky (not the one that shoots a whole bunch) just stop running and then when he puts his shield down make dash with your horse.
good to see a video that actually fights this guy, instead of the "poison-mist cheese" I got him with a bit of help from one of my Ashes summons, after being knocked off my stead, we both stuck close by him and attacked. He doesn't use much of his lighting attacks when up close, at least for me he didn't, so managed to get him that way. Man he was hard.
could not get past this guy. but another way of doing this aswel is using Rotten Breath, it will get he's health down so far you will only have to hit him once and he will go down.
How do you get up so fast? Every time my character gets knocked to the ground by the horse being taken out it takes forever to get up usually with the boss smashing me into oblivion before I can do anything about it.
I found the best way to cheese him alright so you will need rotten breath and so you will walk up to him blast him with the rotten breath and run away after you get far enough he will de agro you and will still be taking damage until his second phase and then you really gotta figure out that line of which he will agro you and the rotten breath will reach him without him agroin you so stay in the edge of that line blast him again running away and baddabing dabbadoo you gotem

To dodge his shield lighting you gota pay attention to the shield . Calm your mind to it , dont panic , when he lowers his shield abit it means you need to jump sideways . Just be calm when doing it , its gona miss 10/10 times . If you misstime ..who cares, repeat until you get the timming.Just be calm and look at his shield and you will never get hit by it.
A tip for yall, you can actually dodge the target thunder, you have to stop sprinting and time the start of the horse sprint with his motion, he moves the shield to use the spell! Time it and ur good, no damage taken!
I actually found you can cheese him by sneaking behind him, applying poison about 6 times and then bringing out the Rot Hound and blasting him with Rotten Breath and then mounting up and getting out of the area. The Rot will consume him.
@@Rootcauz I did this, all I did was craft about 30 poison darts and summoned the rot hound. I didn't have rotten breath but it didn't matter. Didn't even have to attack him, his health just slowly drained as he ran around.
With greatsword this boss is a nightmare, you have to pixel-perfect attack him otherwise he will punish EVERYTHING you do, because obviously punishing you for doing something right teaches me how to get better
exactly. im using greatsword too and there is nearly no window for attack. i ended up rolling through his fireball and stab the horse. took me very long until he fell. i feel like that often with greatsword. they hit so slow.
If you’re using a melee build there is another cheese for phase 2 as well - you can kind of see it in action in the video. If you are on Torrent and keep riding at the horses right side rear (hammer side) in phase 2 he will keep jumping away from you. This happens a few times in the video, but he retreats. If you keep pushing the sentinel in a circle he will keep jumping away and you and hit him easily non stop without him attacking at all. I haven’t tried this multiple times, but I was able to beat him my second time on accident because of this.
You can completely dodge the instant lighting strike on foot if you time your dodge. It's like Radahn's gravity arrow. You can't dodge that on torrent either.
So far this is the worst boss not because it’s hard because of the way it’s hard (the shield lightning) like hard but possible is nice but hard with something that’s impossible to dodge is awful
followed this method, got it done yesterday night, man i didnt know he was this easy to beat haha, i was stressing out for 40 min that i somehow got into second phase but was one shotted by his hammer lmao, this helped alot.thankyou
Sticking to the shield side really helped, got it from your video. If you stick to the shield side it's easier to get hits in, and get away when he attacks with only Torrent taking damage. I actually stayed on that side longer than you would think you could and hammered away before having to move away.
I used my +6 Rot dog with me doing drive-by hits with my horse to at least keep it alive for the nonstop rot to take affect. This boss is the biggest cheat in the game and his lightning in phase 2 has 1,000,000% accurate tracking to kill you typically in 1 hit. If you survive his lightning your game literally glitched and you need to play the lottery lol. Screw this guy 😅.

the lightning thing he does when it hits you from the sky, i tried circling around the boss, going straight for the boss, whatever, i can't avoid it no matter what, and you yourself get hit by it in the video, that's like the main problem with this fight, since it oneshots me or/and my horse and i didn't understand how to avoid it
When he raises his shield jump off horse, when he send the lightning his elbow go down with the shield hand, time your dodge to that motion and he’ll miss you:’D edit: on second playthorugh now and you dont even need to ditch the horse to dodge, just press the speed boost, same timing.
When he swings his shield downwards Thays when the lighting bolt goes off When he swings his shield to his right side, the lighting aoe goes off. It’s not undodgable like everyone complains about you got this :)
@@georgewashington7982 went back and leveld up a bit so i dont get oneshot by everything, i dodged stuff with the dismount invuln frames, got hit i think only twice during the whole fight very uncomfortable boss for my build, so i had to do the whole fight on horseback
This took me forever but here is a tip for you guys - Use horse when he gets weak and stay on foot for the rest it is easier to dodge lightning auto lock on. I used mimic summon and windy physick so my rolls were more effective. Roll as soon as his shield drops when he is locking on to you to avoid lightning. Use incantations to enchant weapon and strength psyick. 10% damage reduction talisman is also really good
I have no shame in saying I spammed the bow and arrow sorcery spell and would run away on the horse until his name disappears from the screen. Then I would ride back up and take another shot while he is in his neutral position, then rinse and repeat. This would work with other projectiles but would take forever.
Oh cool aside from the fact half the time my sword doesn’t hit him and every time I try to go to the side without his axe he fucking changes direction and fucks me ip not to mention the lightening bolt that you can’t dodge and doesn’t matter how far away from him you are (didn’t mention that did u) yeah…
I hate this boss dude. “Ok he’s at half health and I know all of his patterns, oh nevermind he spammed his undodgeable lightning attack that instantly takes off half your health”
it took me so long to kill this dude. in the end i learned every trick there is to beat him on foot. every of his attacks is 100% avoidable. you can roll through everything and the massive lightning aoe you can jump over if on foot. my problem was that i could only land very few timely hits. i play a vagabond with 2 great swords and my biggest problem is how slow i hit. my safest chance to for a hit was to roll towards him when his horse does the fire ball. i roll forward and stab him once. in phase 2 he does that less often so it took me really long. i wish i could figure out how to hit faster but i guess thats not possible with great swords. i envy those samurai guys with katana. seems so much faster.
I never made it this far with my last play through. I've tried to beat him 8 times with and without the summons as a vagabond that's level 80 with a +11 cold halberd. I've tried poison and frost and I get him to 100 health and he 1 shots me EVERYTIME.
I spent 5 longggggg hours trying to beat this guy. Just to come on here and see this guy jolly riding his hours around casually smacking him. Idk if I was under leveled at 69 but jeeeez this was a hard fight man.
yeah same. i tried on horse, didnt really work. i managed to kill him on foot but with close to 100 tries. its amazing how people do things differently and apparently without any effort. some guys playing this game are just incredibly skilled. or im too dumb for the game. thats more likely.
I genuinely don’t know if I’m supposed to do a lot of side bosses and rune farms to beat this guy cause I got up to level 50 after gettin 250k runes, leveled my character in Vigor,Stamina,Dexterity, and Endurance and STILL got mopped around💀
I recommend using the pulley crossbow with bloodbone bolts. When his horse shoots the fireballs at you you should shoot him immediately after dodging it. You can also heal right after you dodge the fireball, just know that it will look like a close call sometimes. Stay on his weapon side to bait out the large swing but just be careful for his second swing after doging behind him. When he gets in his second phase shoot him when he's charging up the lightning strike attacks, same method as the fireball especially when he uses his aoe lightning which lets you get like 2 bursts in easily. My crossbow was +5 and i farmed the bolts, in my opinion they are really good for boss fights.
Every fight in this game would be great if enemies didn't hit for half your health bar while your attacks barely dent them. It's not challenging, it's just tedious and the kind of shitty balancing I'd expect from a AA Soulslike rip-off, not the fathers of the genre.
Tried this strat before even watching the vid. Half your fight seems like rediculously lucky RNG. Heres what generally happens, you get knocked off your horse just like you did, you then die before having a chance to remount. The reason this fight is so fking shit is their is literally no time to get hits off, if you run close & he decides to fireball, you just get fkinh shat on, knocked off the horse & before you get back on you feet fking assfked. Ive come close multiple times. The Rng gods havent come yet though.
Finally got him! I sneaked up behind him from the left, used the Banished Knight Oleg ashes (he's a great tank and melee), and the moonveil katana, both leveled to 4. Start off with the transient moonlight sword art R2. Make sure you are on the other side of Oleg. When the boss is targeting you, get up close by his shield side, keep hitting, and when he targets oleg make a bit of a gap to heal or do whatever but also keep the transient moonlight R2 attacks going. Eventually the bleed will procc and make this a bit easier. That said it took me so many near misses where he one shots you. Sometimes the lightning doesn't hit you if you are right close up, sometimes it does. It always hit me on the horse though.
I was gonna say I'm a level 62 samurai and my dexterity is at 23 so I gotta get that up to 30 and up so my swings will be quicker. The keen nagakiba+7 does more damage than my blood uchigatana+7 and my meteoric ore blade+3 is only behind by 6 of damage. Plus u didn't know about that shield weakness that boss has but watching when he does the lightning thing is good to know. I got hit once by it and it dropped me so close to death. But staying near when the lightning is in the hammer then racing out of that area when he goes to swing will definitely help. The fire balls I you just out run while on horse back. Though the sad thing is I can't beat a single tree sentinel let alone this demonic tree sentinel boss.

It's actually a really fun fight right up until he does the lighting attack that is impossible to dodge and insta kills your horse

You can actually speed ur horse up when he thrust down his lighting shield attack to avoid the deadly bolts.
If you figure out the timing, jumping with your horse actually does dodge it

I honestly think the shield charge lightning attack is one of the hardest abilities to dodge ingame.

I tried for about an hour with my first attempt almost killing him and the rest downhill. I just couldn’t get past the lightning wave he sends out it always killed me. Had to phone a friend.
For me, it is the EXACT same thing... I had 4 tries where he was on like 15% hp (all 4 tries at the exact same amount of hp) and then he kills my horse with the lightning and I die... I'm not sure if its a glitch, because I can notmally dodge them while sitting on the horse. Its only that SPECIFIC amount of hp where he hits me... Idk 😐
a good tip is when the horse shoots fire balls you can try and charge attack him because the horse has a little animation and also, if the horse shoots get close and when he uses his attack walk back on your horse and charge attack
Not sure if this will work for melee builds but for magic builds just jump on the big rock to the left of the gate way and stand near the little pillar and his melee AOE and fire ball cant touch you. When he charges up his red lighting all you need to do is hit him and it will disrupt his casting. That’s how I beat him after many failed attempts trying to take him head on as a mage
When he does the lightning into the sky, you can stop your horse and dismount, if you time it correctly you wont get hit at all. There is an invulnerability period when you get on and off your horse.

When he starts to do his insta one hit lightning cheese, just rush him and make sure youre hugging his shield. You somehow dont get hit and you can get atleast 3 hits (meteoric katana for me)
My horse goes too fast and I can’t stay on his shield side
I'm at level 62 with a +14 Weapon and can just about get him to half life. That electric bullshit is OP and I keep getting wasted everytime. Imo, this is the hardest boss I have come across so far, it's a fking chore:(

Anyone having trouble dodging the lightning attack, I did it on ground and dodged after a few seconds of him holding his shield up. Let me dodge the attack every time
Man something is definetely fucking broken about MY draconic tree sentinel. He plays like a pro souls player. When i try to get on his hield side, he directly turns and puts his axe on my head even if I'm trying to get on his hield side. Then when im stunned, he finishes me off. Same goes with electrical phase 2. He just can sense the moves im about to do. He predicts and does attacks according to my fucking moves. I just watched this video, and there is no such thing in this video.
took him down only on foot.dodge the fire and lightning,hit him only after he rushes u after his second hit,also very important on second phase stay close to him the lightning will kill him fast

I really struggled with this one. But when I came back with my lvl 7 mimic tear summon I absolutely destroyed this guy on my very first try. Actually, mimic tear is so mighty I felt bad about using it and will only use it if I'm completely lost from now on. One part of me even hates that there's something so powerful at my disposal at all, haha.
once he raises his sword to call down the lightning strike just dismount your horse. Roll the lightning strike when it lands and remount your horse to continue the fight
Killing this boss in the good old dark souls way ( No horse ) solo without summons while using a melee build that is not a katana was just PURE JOY

I still didn't beat this guy right now but here's a tips for you :
When 2nd phase begin and big guy start to throw "undodgeable" thunder, notice his left arm (the one carrying the shield), when he rise it that means he's about to throw it's attack KEEP AN EYE on this arm while moving to left or right side, when it goes straight down press O to dodge to the side while moving, timing is short but you CAN dodge this shit
It took me 500+ attempts to beat him 😤. I didn’t use the mount just a straight up 1v1 with him using elenoras poleblade at plus 4. I wanted to beat it my way and it took so long but when I did it was the best feeling.
Nothing beats defeating the boss the way you want! :o)
Ok so I have been stuck on this piece of garbage boss for what feels like forever and no strategy seemed to work for me except running around him in a counter clockwise motion (while on torrent)… chipping away at his health while keeping an eye on his wind ups. Don’t get greedy with landing hits as you need to be able to conserve your stamina for when you need to dodge an overhead/charged strike.

Also when he does that air strike lightning bullshit you need to circle around him in clockwise motion, you can tell his hoe ass is about to do one whenever he spits a fireball during phase two so I recommend always keeping close to him while also remaining vigilant for that mortar strike.
Overall, this was such an infuriating boss fight and even though I finally defeated it it does NOT feel satisfying at all. Tree sentinels are truly my most hated enemy types in this game. The Draconic sentinel along with the double tree sentinels found earlier both have become major roadblocks in my Elden ring experience to the point that I’ve taken month(s) long hiatuses from the game due to sheer frustration. I have enjoyed the game for the most part but moments like these make me feel like the game is just too niche and a waste of time for the average consumer that isn’t a sweaty pimple faced unemployed nerd that has all the time in the world to devote to this game in order to feel competent.

I've been at this for about 3 hours. The horse through a 5 straight fireballs at me and lightning never misses. Straight almost broke my tv in frustration
This so much, seems that every damn attack in this games CURVES as soon as you start trying to evade..

The "problem" with this game Is that It Is unforgivable. It's not about getting the timing or whatever it's that a SINGLE mistake and you are dead. I killed It too Yesterday, but i used the poison trick

Finally did it! No summons, just sword. The key to that stupid “undodgeable” tracking lightning attack is to dismount Torrent in place right before it strikes. You get hella I frames and won’t hit you.

@@xbaloke yeah it works best when you're stationary and then dismount. as long as you dismount as soon as you see him bring the shield down the lasers should very rarely, if ever hit you. if you're playing on either PS4 or PS5 i could help you out
His lighting bolts are super annoying, it tracks you all the way and you don't have enough time to dodge.
Just beat him on my faith build! First phase is relatively easy, just avoid his attacks with torrent then retaliate with a swing of your weapon of choice. Second phase I decided to abandon the horse, so that I can dodge the insta kill lightning bolt he preforms. The strategy I used was firing a black flame incantation at him after he does his instant lightning bolt move. You can tell when the lightning comes down when he shifts his shield down. Another opening for shooting him with a flame is directly after he does his overhead swing upon charging at you. You can just about sneak in a single fireball, but you have to roll out of the way immediately after, or you will most likely get fireballed to the forehead. Doing this along with sneaking in a few hits with my winged scythe finished the job. Just watch out for his AOE lightning slam, as well as his large swing that summons a wave of lightning, and you should do great. Just posting this for anyone struggling like i did 😌

Thank you for not making a video on how to cheese him. I watched the video about three times to learn his moves and then went in and beat him in three attempts. For the lightning that he shoots from the sky (not the one that shoots a whole bunch) just stop running and then when he puts his shield down make dash with your horse.

I got him with a bit of help from one of my Ashes summons, after being knocked off my stead, we both stuck close by him and attacked. He doesn't use much of his lighting attacks when up close, at least for me he didn't, so managed to get him that way. Man he was hard.
could not get past this guy. but another way of doing this aswel is using Rotten Breath, it will get he's health down so far you will only have to hit him once and he will go down.
How do you get up so fast? Every time my character gets knocked to the ground by the horse being taken out it takes forever to get up usually with the boss smashing me into oblivion before I can do anything about it.

I found the best way to cheese him alright so you will need rotten breath and so you will walk up to him blast him with the rotten breath and run away after you get far enough he will de agro you and will still be taking damage until his second phase and then you really gotta figure out that line of which he will agro you and the rotten breath will reach him without him agroin you so stay in the edge of that line blast him again running away and baddabing dabbadoo you gotem
The fucking fireballs dude it’s like he just pulls out a glock-19 and expects you to dodge it

To dodge his shield lighting you gota pay attention to the shield . Calm your mind to it , dont panic , when he lowers his shield abit it means you need to jump sideways . Just be calm when doing it , its gona miss 10/10 times . If you misstime ..who cares, repeat until you get the timming.Just be calm and look at his shield and you will never get hit by it.
A tip for yall, you can actually dodge the target thunder, you have to stop sprinting and time the start of the horse sprint with his motion, he moves the shield to use the spell! Time it and ur good, no damage taken!
I actually found you can cheese him by sneaking behind him, applying poison about 6 times and then bringing out the Rot Hound and blasting him with Rotten Breath and then mounting up and getting out of the area. The Rot will consume him.
@@Rootcauz I did this, all I did was craft about 30 poison darts and summoned the rot hound. I didn't have rotten breath but it didn't matter. Didn't even have to attack him, his health just slowly drained as he ran around.
Among the easiest ways is bloodslash, he went down in exactly 1:12 with my mimic tear
some of these boss fights are absolutely stupid let me tell you.
With greatsword this boss is a nightmare, you have to pixel-perfect attack him otherwise he will punish EVERYTHING you do, because obviously punishing you for doing something right teaches me how to get better
You're not supposed to fight him on foot... both tree sentinels are supposed to fought on horse back.

exactly. im using greatsword too and there is nearly no window for attack. i ended up rolling through his fireball and stab the horse. took me very long until he fell. i feel like that often with greatsword. they hit so slow.
If you’re using a melee build there is another cheese for phase 2 as well - you can kind of see it in action in the video. If you are on Torrent and keep riding at the horses right side rear (hammer side) in phase 2 he will keep jumping away from you. This happens a few times in the video, but he retreats. If you keep pushing the sentinel in a circle he will keep jumping away and you and hit him easily non stop without him attacking at all. I haven’t tried this multiple times, but I was able to beat him my second time on accident because of this.
You can completely dodge the instant lighting strike on foot if you time your dodge. It's like Radahn's gravity arrow. You can't dodge that on torrent either.
So far this is the worst boss not because it’s hard because of the way it’s hard (the shield lightning) like hard but possible is nice but hard with something that’s impossible to dodge is awful
Nah only way to have a high chance of beating him is mage builds just like most this game. Tank builds are absolutely useless.
I just summoned my jellyfish pal and fought alongside her 'til we won. Not an honorable duel, but a win's a win.
followed this method, got it done yesterday night, man i didnt know he was this easy to beat haha, i was stressing out for 40 min that i somehow got into second phase but was one shotted by his hammer lmao, this helped alot.thankyou
Sticking to the shield side really helped, got it from your video. If you stick to the shield side it's easier to get hits in, and get away when he attacks with only Torrent taking damage. I actually stayed on that side longer than you would think you could and hammered away before having to move away.
I used my +6 Rot dog with me doing drive-by hits with my horse to at least keep it alive for the nonstop rot to take affect. This boss is the biggest cheat in the game and his lightning in phase 2 has 1,000,000% accurate tracking to kill you typically in 1 hit. If you survive his lightning your game literally glitched and you need to play the lottery lol. Screw this guy 😅.

the lightning thing he does when it hits you from the sky, i tried circling around the boss, going straight for the boss, whatever, i can't avoid it no matter what, and you yourself get hit by it in the video, that's like the main problem with this fight, since it oneshots me or/and my horse and i didn't understand how to avoid it
You can time a roll to avoid it. its pretty easy to predict. Just the 1 shot hits are very rough to play against on such a unpredictable boss
When he raises his shield jump off horse, when he send the lightning his elbow go down with the shield hand, time your dodge to that motion and he’ll miss you:’D
edit: on second playthorugh now and you dont even need to ditch the horse to dodge, just press the speed boost, same timing.
Just dismount when hes about to bring the lightning down. Its ez and badass once you get used to it 😎👌
When he swings his shield downwards Thays when the lighting bolt goes off
When he swings his shield to his right side, the lighting aoe goes off. It’s not undodgable like everyone complains about you got this :)
@@georgewashington7982 went back and leveld up a bit so i dont get oneshot by everything, i dodged stuff with the dismount invuln frames, got hit i think only twice during the whole fight

This took me forever but here is a tip for you guys - Use horse when he gets weak and stay on foot for the rest it is easier to dodge lightning auto lock on. I used mimic summon and windy physick so my rolls were more effective. Roll as soon as his shield drops when he is locking on to you to avoid lightning. Use incantations to enchant weapon and strength psyick. 10% damage reduction talisman is also really good
Got it on the first try when mounted. Much harder on foot
His horse's front feet smash can one shot everything... It makes no sense
I have no shame in saying I spammed the bow and arrow sorcery spell and would run away on the horse until his name disappears from the screen. Then I would ride back up and take another shot while he is in his neutral position, then rinse and repeat. This would work with other projectiles but would take forever.
It's like fighting a crackhead Havel from DS1 but on a horse☻️
Oh cool aside from the fact half the time my sword doesn’t hit him and every time I try to go to the side without his axe he fucking changes direction and fucks me ip not to mention the lightening bolt that you can’t dodge and doesn’t matter how far away from him you are (didn’t mention that did u) yeah…

it took me so long to kill this dude. in the end i learned every trick there is to beat him on foot. every of his attacks is 100% avoidable. you can roll through everything and the massive lightning aoe you can jump over if on foot. my problem was that i could only land very few timely hits. i play a vagabond with 2 great swords and my biggest problem is how slow i hit. my safest chance to for a hit was to roll towards him when his horse does the fire ball. i roll forward and stab him once. in phase 2 he does that less often so it took me really long. i wish i could figure out how to hit faster but i guess thats not possible with great swords. i envy those samurai guys with katana. seems so much faster.
I never made it this far with my last play through. I've tried to beat him 8 times with and without the summons as a vagabond that's level 80 with a +11 cold halberd. I've tried poison and frost and I get him to 100 health and he 1 shots me EVERYTIME.
I spent 5 longggggg hours trying to beat this guy. Just to come on here and see this guy jolly riding his hours around casually smacking him. Idk if I was under leveled at 69 but jeeeez this was a hard fight man.
yeah same. i tried on horse, didnt really work. i managed to kill him on foot but with close to 100 tries. its amazing how people do things differently and apparently without any effort. some guys playing this game are just incredibly skilled. or im too dumb for the game. thats more likely.
I genuinely don’t know if I’m supposed to do a lot of side bosses and rune farms to beat this guy cause I got up to level 50 after gettin 250k runes, leveled my character in Vigor,Stamina,Dexterity, and Endurance and STILL got mopped around💀
i went to build up my character and I came back to him all confidence he didn’t give me a chance to show my abilities he fried me right away 🗿
I recommend using the pulley crossbow with bloodbone bolts. When his horse shoots the fireballs at you you should shoot him immediately after dodging it. You can also heal right after you dodge the fireball, just know that it will look like a close call sometimes. Stay on his weapon side to bait out the large swing but just be careful for his second swing after doging behind him. When he gets in his second phase shoot him when he's charging up the lightning strike attacks, same method as the fireball especially when he uses his aoe lightning which lets you get like 2 bursts in easily. My crossbow was +5 and i farmed the bolts, in my opinion they are really good for boss fights.
Dodging the lightning in super easy on horse.. all i did was strafe in either direction it misses me everytime
With the patch looks like the devs added an npc summons for the fight. Forgot the name. Beefy knight. Made the fight wayyyy easier. Lol.

Every fight in this game would be great if enemies didn't hit for half your health bar while your attacks barely dent them. It's not challenging, it's just tedious and the kind of shitty balancing I'd expect from a AA Soulslike rip-off, not the fathers of the genre.

Half your fight seems like rediculously lucky RNG.
Heres what generally happens, you get knocked off your horse just like you did, you then die before having a chance to remount. The reason this fight is so fking shit is their is literally no time to get hits off, if you run close & he decides to fireball, you just get fkinh shat on, knocked off the horse & before you get back on you feet fking assfked. Ive come close multiple times. The Rng gods havent come yet though.
I beat him first try after watching this vid and died 10 times before 😭😭
Finally got him! I sneaked up behind him from the left, used the Banished Knight Oleg ashes (he's a great tank and melee), and the moonveil katana, both leveled to 4. Start off with the transient moonlight sword art R2. Make sure you are on the other side of Oleg. When the boss is targeting you, get up close by his shield side, keep hitting, and when he targets oleg make a bit of a gap to heal or do whatever but also keep the transient moonlight R2 attacks going. Eventually the bleed will procc and make this a bit easier.
That said it took me so many near misses where he one shots you. Sometimes the lightning doesn't hit you if you are right close up, sometimes it does. It always hit me on the horse though.
I was gonna say I'm a level 62 samurai and my dexterity is at 23 so I gotta get that up to 30 and up so my swings will be quicker. The keen nagakiba+7 does more damage than my blood uchigatana+7 and my meteoric ore blade+3 is only behind by 6 of damage. Plus u didn't know about that shield weakness that boss has but watching when he does the lightning thing is good to know. I got hit once by it and it dropped me so close to death. But staying near when the lightning is in the hammer then racing out of that area when he goes to swing will definitely help. The fire balls I you just out run while on horse back. Though the sad thing is I can't beat a single tree sentinel let alone this demonic tree sentinel boss.
I tried this like 20 times on horse.
After that I tried it 2 times on foot and beat him. Bloodhound step is great in this fight.
I got him with frost stomp and wolves.
