"Can you hear me?"
"I can hear YOU."
"Think about that."
Still hilarious
Gage Peruti MAJOR GENERAL BORLAND!
The soundproof booth that's soundproof in only on direction.
You think he'd hear the audience
@@far22186 When you focus on something hard enough, you tend to ignore obvious things like that.
@@CartoonLab al Borland should quit he can't stand it wait a minute have you heard a conspiracy theory in RUclips that al Borland is a serial killer?
These guys were a perfect combination for hilarity

Hell yeah! Like the three stooges!
A rare win for Tim.
Al’s version of “Modern Major General” is top notch. 😂
Loved the program, still one of my favorite TV series ever. Those two had a great ‘on screen’ working chemistry.
I'm always amazed at the fact that through the "tv cameras" the set looks so huge but the minute its drawn back and you can see the audience the set looks so tiny.
Go to a taping of The Price Is Right. I always thought the studio and stage were huge but in person it's surprisingly small, mostly camera tricks.
Yep. Camera adds 10 pounds. I’ve been to tapings for Letterman and Conan. Same situ
...... Tha ....... ts ...... whatshesaid!
Fun fact, the live audience for Tool Time was the live audience for the actual episode instead of a bunch of extras
I know people who attended Big Brother stated that the house look much bigger on TV
oh man this show was soo funny. never gets old too

I came here for Cyanide and Happiness. 😐
This is one of my favourite gags in Home Improvement.
One of the best shows of my childhood
I never understood why Tim always wore a tie on a “home improvement” show; that’s the most dangerous article of clothing you can wear near power tools.
What do you expect? The guy's an idiot lol
@@luigi2891 hes really a genius but hes just way over ambitious
@dark zeratul Pretty much it, Tim is an extremely talented repair man/builder/electrician...but he has a habit of overclocking equipment or using the wrong power for a job. He seems to think "More power" means a quicker job done.
It`s a safety tie... ask colinfurze
@dark zeratul and the show would suck
"That is amazing we did not hear a sound" Yeah Al, except, when Tim knock on the door, you did hear a sound xD
Tims face when Al says that's a stupid haircut you have. 🤣
Lol!
A scene so funny that Tim actually has to ask the audience to stop laughing. Today's shows could learn alot what real comedy is all about.
Love love this show.... please return it to TV
It was added back to Hulu
It's available on Disney+
These two were an amazing comedy duo! :D
this was one of my all time favorite skits they did XD
Me too
I still say this to my wife
Time less 👍👍
This is one of those scenes I always remember. Hilarious
This and the wood smell test lol
The 80’s and 90’s was great time for tv shows.
All the 90s black sitcoms tried to warn us about police brutality

@@TannerWilliam07 gotta bring the room down huh? Smh.
I look forward to watch this entire show with my future kids when they are the same age I was when I saw this show on TV.
The expressions on Al's face when he starts figuring it out (2:59 ish) are what make this for me
I'm screaming! Lol!
"What the dislikers don't know is that this isn't really a hardware show."
Brendan Richards lol
67 now.
Brendan Richards 74 now
Those dislikes are for the dead yoshi at the end I bet :V
Thoses people need help if they dislike this tv show, dont they know about hardware and how more power is better.
Man, this kind of show wouldn't be possible to exist nowadays. A show dedicated to manhood. I miss so much the 90s.
It's called Last Man Standing.
say what you will about home improvement but it had the best scene transitions of any sitcom to this day
The scene transitions are amazing and I really hope whoever did them got the credit they deserved
3:00
It was at this point that Al knew, he'd fucked up.
Lol
Yep!
One of the best moments in Home Improvement! I remember laughing out loud!
It's thanks to this episode that the song Major General has been stuck in my head for the last 20 years... thanks Al.
O.O
+Solarnova In that case, never look up "Scientist Salarian" >_>
Solarnova try having to sing it on stage it never Leaves your head

Haha! I always wondered what the song was he was singing. Never knew the "Major General" that Tim says afterwards was the title. Thanks. :)
Al should've realized the booth wasn't soundproof when Tim tapped on the window
"Al"
"Yes?"
LMAO I love this show

Can’t hear him scream, but knocking on the glass is loud af
@Daniel Johnson Yeah no. Even sitcoms should probably have writers that, you know, are even slightly competent. There's a good reason sitcoms of today aren't ridiculed nearly as much as those from the 90's.
xXCdOg24Xx dude it isn’t sound proof THATS THE JOKE
@@JamesR624 the reason sitcoms of today aren't ridiculed as much is because they are new. Wait a few years and they will be ridiculed. Also if you hit a wall (or knocked), even a proper sound proof booth would make sound to the outside... Sound proofing is done so that sounds that travel through air don't get out... not knocking.
@@JamesR624 ... because nobody is watching the garbage they are putting out today
Knocking would still make noise outside the booth even if it was soundproof
I never get bored with this show! Always funny!
I get bored of u lol
The most underrated TV show ever
That’s was a great episode for sure
The writing is so genius in this scene LMAO
My favorite part is how Al can hear Tim knocking from inside at 1:37 and that doesn't tip him off.
Xaldel do you even know how sound works? Sound travels better on solid objects. His voices hits air inside the booth and then the booth, BUT His knocking on the glass is DIRECT contact with a SOLID. Even the best sound proof booths will transmit sound if you hit the walls. The glass he touched vibrated and transmitted the sound to the air outside. Not trying to be that person but you can google how sound travels. (I know this was a skit, but a real sound proof booth would still transmit sound if you hit its surface hard enough) Thank you.
@@MichaelOrtega People are dumb, they spout off shit thinking they are intelligent :D
I watched this many times, and I still die laughing!!! what an amazing show.... too bad it ended.....
I disagree. Too many shows continue long past the point of having new or interesting ideas for new episodes. Even Married with Children probably went on too long. Or to be more to the point: Simpsons.
Man this never gets old lol!!!
I LOVE this clip!! One of my favorite Tool Time/Home Improvement scenes!!
If you live in an apartment there's plenty of times you wish your walls are soundproof so you couldn't hear your neighbors.
it's true Not to mention the ceiling and the floor!
@@dragondancer1814 I agree with you 100%
And so the neighbors don't have to hear me lol
OMG, same!
That would be perfect against annoying neighbors.

Al should've been suspicious when Tim knocked on the window
Tim knocks on window from inside. Everybody hears it.
Miss this show ......always watched it....
Tim: Al let me out!
Al: ...I don’t think so Tim
Classic. I remember someone brought this up in English class when we were learning the difference between situational and dramatic irony lol
This seems even funnier years later after I first saw this.
Home improvement needs too be on Netflix
I agree! I miss this iconic show!
LOL! I was just thinking about this scene a few days ago, and then today it popped up in my recommended videos :)
Gotta be the best Home Improvement scene ever.

LOL I've always loved the chemistry Tim and Richard had on the show. And what's funny is that Al is the perfect foil for Tim and his shenanigans. Also since you take requests is there anyway you could find the tool time jingle? You know the one they always use before they go to commercial?
And to think it was nearly Stephen Tobolowsky.
@@psifla99 Yeah, that never would've worked lol.

I don’t care that I’m 35 years old now, TV in the 90s were the shit!!
Even though this show was horrible, it occasionally had it's really funny moments. This is one of them.

Tim Allen is a NATIONAL TREASURE. lol
I love watching the home improvement show
If someone played this prank on me at work, it would turn out the same way, only the insults would be more like a lecture and I'd start singing "Be Prepared". I LOVE the Modern Major General bit. "Major General Borland!" is my favorite line.
I’m re-watching History of the Sitcom; they’re talking about all the different types of shows from the 1st ones to the latest ones. One of the best is/was Tim the Tool Man Taylor! It was priceless & really quite funny 😆!!! ✅
One thing I never noticed whilst I was younger when Tim knocks just as he is about to come out, if it was truly sound proof you would not hear the knock lol
Yep, I remember this scene from the show.
We'll never get shows like this again
this or Married with Children.
Usually Al finds a way to backfire Tim's plans. Heh heh not this time. Tim got em.

Notice when Tim knocks on the glass while inside the "soundproof room", it makes a sound...
He should have known it wasn’t sound proof when Tim knocked from inside and you could hear it outside lol I used to love this show
I'm pretty sure even in a soundproof room you can still hear the knocking since he's actually tapping the wall itself.

0:18 -- Sounded like he said "The easiest way when 'stall your insulation". Reminds me of the episode where Tim got his shirt ripped off by a lathe. If you listen carefully in that scene, Tim says "Always think safety when working with-a-ma spinning lathe" XD
Came back in 2022 just for this segment
Al making fun of Tim's haircut 🤣🤣🤣
This was one of my favorite bits.
I was really amazed!
And again youtube recommendations have summoned us to a new random video
"Think about that!"
I have been in a sound proof room when I was going for a hearing test to get a Restricted Radio Operators License. It is a very strange feeling because you have no echo so it is like you are floating in space. I have also been in professional sound studios and again it is like floating in space..
Okay you just combined several forms of greatness in the same video!..Doug..Home Improvement..Street Fighter..Zelda..PURE awesome.
Tim Allen's voice has changed a lot compared to today
It was at this point Al knew.....he'd fucked up.
Al is such an under-rated character 🤣
This video is a time capsule in like, three different ways.
I watch this show every night b4 I doze off for the comes on the perfect time...
