Actually its kinda funny because im pretty sure thats intentional. If you listen to one of his voice lines, he explains that he tells jokes to help him look less ‘strict’ because he thinks that his normal appearance looks unapproachable and scary (?). Im pretty sure thats what he said, at least

The aura he has is like no other. His music is powerful yet sinister in a good way. His voice is iconic, his sentences show how he IS just like Anubis - the one that decides what will happen to mortals after their end. How god-like.💜

I don't know why, but at 0:26 when the eye moves from side to side and cyno says "every soul will be weighed" it gives me shivers.
Basically in ancient Egyptian it is belived that good and bad deeds (heart) will be weighed upon the feather of Maat.

His lore is supposed to be like the Egyptian God of Death Anubis.He weighs a persons Heart with an Ostrich feather,the more sins and bad deeds they have committed the heavier their heart will become.
@@harveywilde6781 yeah that's really the reason it gives me shivers. And the eye movment, it just feels like it's searching for sinners. Like me.
The feather is a great detail. Cyno’s design is based on Anubis. Anubis is sort of like a keeper to the duat (underworld in Egyptian mythology). He also decides what kind of afterlife one goes to. He does this by weighing the heart/soul of those who pass with a feather. If the heart is lighter than a feather, then they get the nice afterlife. If it is heavier than the feather, then the heart is eaten by Anubis’s pet. Considering Cyno’s theme of “judgement”, this works exceptionally well. Excellent attention to detail as always, Hoyoverse.

Yeah Anubis is kind of the Egyptian equivalent to Thanatos, the first god you meet on the way to the underworld but not actually it's ruler

There might be some voices I prefer in the other languages, overall I love the English. Characters like Mona, Yelan, Yae, Zhongli, Cyno, Itto, etc have been killing it since the characters were revealed/released.

Fun fact, while we can all see that his design is based off Anubis, Cyno’s own name is itself a reference of its own.
His name is taken from the term “cynocephaly” which literally means “dog-headed” and is used to reference men who had the heads of canids, usually of a dog or jackal.

His eng va is like Itto, Mona, and Zhongli. They're literally able to exude the personality of their characters thru their voices. Such powerful voices. Cyno EN is definitely one of my fave en dub along with Zl, Itto, Mona, and Eula now.
My favorite dub voice other than razor (my favorite va voices him) is itto. Especially when he wished my happy birthday and beatboxed
Yanfei too. She truly portraits how Yanfei loves speaking and speaking fast and non stop. I love that from her tho.

When I saw how Cyno holds the eremite and casually throws him away, it makes me think how incredibly strong Genshin playable characters are. For example, despite how petite Xiangling is, the way she attacks with her spear far surpasses any of the trained soldiers in a nation's army.
Perhaps having a vision significantly increases one's strength and fighting prowess.
Well and she was trained by Madame Ping.

Cyno’s sense of justice, paired with his desire to make a joke is absolutely comical. One minute, we have one of my favourite kinds of badass character, and then now another one of my favourites, a character who makes dad jokes. Wonderful l.

I love the Anubis references. The feather and his phrase "all souls shall be weighed" alludes to how Anubis weighs your heart against a feather to discern if you're worthy to enter the afterlife.
I get that his pet eats the heart/soul of the person if it weighs more than a feather but does the mythos every say what happens if it's even with the feather?🤔

1:40 When you see the fact that a massive explosion is made by Cyno alone makes you wonder if he is strong enough to stand up against a harbinger, those types of explosions you don't really see often in the game (I only remember Childe and or Traveler in the opening cutscenes)
I mean it does actually say he has the power of a divine spirit so he's definitely higher up than the average in terms of lore
Not to mention how he's holding that Eremite guy by his neck and just throws him away as if that guy was nothing but a wet towel to him 👀 he's so cool
He has the potential to be one of the stronger Humans in the game, immense knowledge plus he's cursed by a powerful spirit. I don't know if he'll be Shenhe or Childe tier, but he has a lot of potential
@@KS-ik1zl honestly bs that i shoved together here: the eremites talk of deshret coming back who apparentely was the rightful archon, scara having gnosis and being built to be an archon, and dottore here whose a genius who wants to build an archon... feels like too much of a coincedence and if there is a connection then this has a lot to do with the desert since its deshret and all his creations and stuff are in the desert and as of right now the most powerful force in the desert that we know of is likely cyno (i think). if dottore, scara and deshret are linked then obviously cyno will oppose so highly unlikely but perhaps cyno is harbinger level...

This is my fourth Genshin character demo as someone who does not play Genshin but started seeing these on my feed, and I am still impressed. The music strikes, once again, as entirely fitting to the inspirations of the character as well as the character design with regards to Egyptian history and culture. Thank you for this wonderful bit of music and cinematography.
Edit: Oh wow, thank you so much for all the likes and recommendations! I'm making a list right now of all the ones everyone has said, soundtracks included, so I'll try to make my way through them and see what I think! Since someone asked, the other three before this were Candace's, Zhongli's, and the Raiden Shogun's, heh. I enjoyed them all! I might play the game in the future, so hopefully there's not too many spoilers in the rest of these. 😅

Love how Cyno says “Every soul shall be weighed”, as his headpiece represents a Jackal, and the Egyptian god Anubis has the head of a Jackal. Anubis is the god of the Necropolis, and he weighed the hearts of the dead to determine whether or not they are worthy of entering the Field of Reeds (which is basically the Egyptian’s heaven).

Sure, it can be harmful if it becomes an obsession, but that applies to any emotion, not just love, real person or not.
And it can help people learn about themselves and grow. Before it was video games, it was movies, before that, books. Any medium can create fictional characters that then become much more in someone's mind.
I think this is a beautiful trait we humans have, and we should treasure it.

I find it funny how everyone compares him to Razor for his physique and his fighting style but NO ONE makes the connection between him and Fischl on a personality level (the teen/young adult who looks edgy but who is actually just a big nerd).

the music sounds like it's slowly crippling to me. It may not be the typical "goes hard" but it's haunting and hypnotizing, almost like it's trying to reveal something much much bigger than it sounds little by little without trying to scare you away in an instant. It doesn't activate your sense of danger until it's too late to run away.
the one thing that never disappoint in genshin is their music.
The fact that me, my little brother & sister have been waiting forever for him to make an appearance in the game, ever since we saw him in the trailer of all nations. Something about him just makes me so attached to his character, the story, the design and appearance in overall. Maybe mostly because he is the main character of the Sumeru, like how Diluc is of Monstadt, Ningguang for Liyue and Ayaka for Inazuma. I really love how much detail Hoyoverse has put out on their characters; especially since they make them as realistic as in reality based on the world’s mythology. Cyno is for instance, is heavily inspired by Anubis, Egyptian mythology!! It’s so interesting because we players, even somehow we don’t notice it, we are learning so much about culture of this world, whilst all throughout playing this game; for free :) hoyoverse really is pulling it !!!! 😌😌 Inshallah let’s hope I’ll get Cyno

Best designed Sumeru character. The concept, the design, the personality, even the gameplay perfectly suit not only the lore of the world but also its culture. Plus, he's absolutely cool and awesome as heck. That's legit one of the most epic elemental burst in the game.
You meant best designed sumeru for meta lover only. Lorewise, nilou is the best one. Genshin is not only about combat stuff.
