After working in a shipyard for almost 40 years I can actually smell the carbon arcing and grinding in this video. Can't tell you how many days I went home smelling exactly like you do at the end of the day. Interestingly air arc gouging was invented and the company ArcAir founded in the shipyard I worked in and the town I live in.

The very opposite of a hardcore smarty pants who is showing off on RUclips. Much appreciated. I watch all his videos. @@kristianskov4841 I have only used gouging rods one time. About 20 years ago I got my Miller 330abp 460 amp tig welder and decided to try the gouging gun and rods that came with it. That is loud, hot, nasty work and at the time I didn't have a big enough air compressor to keep up. Later I got a small plasma cutter and use that for gouging the small items I work on. Eventually, I will get a hand torch for the Hypertherm Powermax 65 that is on the CNC plasma table that I built. I wonder if plasma works as well as the gouging rods. Love how you included the out takes. Shows your only human like the rest of us plus it’s good entertainment. The final cut of the video is always well edited and very informative. Your a talented welder.
Man iv done hundreds and hundreds of 815, 826, 836 and even some bomags. I can't imagine having to roll a wheel around in the floor to weld it. Our shop took a axle out of 836 Compactors, welded them up on a stand, hooked a electric motor to the pinion with a chain(so you can get a gear reduction with sprockets) and had a speed controller for you to set in your lap while you weld along with a scaffold in the front to stand and do your cleats up top since we primarily used metal cored wire. Also cut out multiple hub adapters so whatever wheel it be,, we can just bolt that adapter on and bolt the wheel up.. Props to you for sure man!🤣
Awesome video. You were so knackered finishing that job, you could hardly string two words together. I know that feeling. You have great partner, cherish her. and the dog.

Arc gouging approaches 120db ambient noise and he is very fortunate to be doing it outside. Get shoved up in a hole somewhere arc gouging and it's a miserable time.
@@jonathonbridges9625 i once had to do air arc inside a small steel tank in summer , it hit 60 - 63 Celcius in there , i did 2 - 3 minutes inside then out for 5 - 10 minutes to cool down , i did it 4 times to finish the job but i knew if i had to go in again it might have killed me.
You weld in an office chair 💺. You're a BOSS
This has to be one of the most down to earth no bull shit channels on RUclips!

Awesome glad you enjoyed it!
I have to say that I love how you embrace hard work. It’s a quality rarely seen nowadays. You can work fucking hard. That’s probably your biggest strength.
The lady's laughter is the icing on the whipped cream, I love your videos.
So the outtakes were well worth waiting for. Absolutely hysterical. Great job on the video and the work.
You have the BEST outtakes of anyone on RUclips. Also an amazing collection of tools
Of the many things I appreciate about this channel, is the education level. Kurtis, you do such an outstanding job at explaining the process, which isn’t really a common feature on other channels. I know that when I click your vids, I’m gonna learn something new.
Your channel is also a very welcome break from the insanity in the world today. Thank you for your hard work!
Hey mate this is great feedback and we wanted the channel to be a blend of entertainment and education so glad that's what you get! Cheers 😎👍

I watch all the videos you share. God bless your work. You are a great person because we learn from you and you explain well
Man iv done hundreds and hundreds of 815, 826, 836 and even some bomags. Props to you for sure man!🤣
I always love the ending scene 😂😂
We will make a compilation video of all the outtakes soon!
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering Yippie that will be one of the best videos for sure .
