wow the great Richard Darbishire- he was a school buddy of mine in Manchester in the early to mid 70s- still a great voice in one of the most underrated groups of the 80s- rock on Rick!!
I always loved this music video for "Blow The House Down" because it perfectly matches the high-energy song. It's simply a fun video with cool effects for a fun song. It's my favorite song from their second album, "Gatecrashing." Thank you for posting this video!
This made me chuckle!! Maybe it's cuz I'm now in my early 50s so this music was "my teenage scene", but enjoying finding all these songs again now (in 2024). Some I remember well, others I'd long forgotten; "re-finding" both is a blast ;-) My younger daughter envies me growin' up with such a "playlist", lol; fun to share this music w/her 🙂 Cheers!
This is a very similar band to INXS the only difference between this two is that Living In a Box wasn't so succesful in the magnificent 80's years. Anyways, this band is so underrated!
Dammit. I'm not from Sheffield. (I'm from waaay 'cross the pond. Atlanta, GA isn't too bad, is it?) Could I cop some creds for having the first Living In A Box album on vinyl???
Richard Darbyshire (Living in a box) often gets mistaked for Go West Legend Peter Cox - they both look a like and sound a like- Richard is a great singer!
ARGHHHHHHH THE EIGHTIES!!! This song was top ten in the UK....i remember buying this track!! oh my word how its dated.....!!!!! rumour has it that Brian May played the guitar....
My local radio station Cool FM played this on the morning of September 12th 2001. Thought it poor timing. Especially given the station played exclusively current pop music at the time. Very strange...
AND I HAVE THE RIGHT, TO EDUCATE AND TEACH MY!!! KIDS, NOT TO BE AND TO ACT LIKE YOU AND ONES, YOU TRULY LOVE AND FOR WHOM YOU ALWAYS! DO THIS WITH ME, OF COURSE I HAVE THIS RIGHT, THEY ARE MY!!! KIDS, Like my intellectual Property, my heritage, my education, my genius, my knowledge, my interests are my!!! and not yours and theirs!
BLOW THE HOUSE DOWN druhý TOP 10 hit skupiny LIVING IN A BOX, ktorý bol v UK rebríčku deväť týždňov od 18. februara 1989 a obsadil 10.m. Autormi piesne boli Hammond a Vere. Skladba pochádzala z albumu GATECRASHING, ktorý bol v rebríčku 16 týždňov od 8. júla 1989 a skončil na 21.m. ocenený BPI zlatou platňou. Skupinu zo Sheffieldu tvorili Richard Darbyshire spev, Marcus Vere klavesy a Anthony Critchlow bicie.
If Legoshi, from Beastars, was an MMD model rig, then this song would definitely be most suiting for him to sing and dance to. You know? Because of the children's book allusion of "blowing houses down".
Its all about the music. The video is irrelevant. Music videos were only created to show something visual on television while the music is playing. These days they seem to care more about image than sound. They seem to put more effort, time and money into the video than the actual music. I think that's one of the major differences between music of the 80s and today.
But the music video creates the story of the song playing, Many bands/artists would help with storyboards before filming the video to create that story with the visuals coming to life
Hey fans! Check out a rare video for Richard Darbyshire - "Wherever Love Is Found" from CityRhythm88. I had this video taped from the ITV's Chart Show (UK TV music show) many years ago, but I'm so excited that someone has posted the full version of this great track with soulful and powerhouse vocals from Richard! Great video too. :-)
People complain about this video how bad the quality was but you have to remember it was over 20 years ago. Most video's were similar back then. It is the great song you should be focused on. The video's they show in today's 2012 will look backdated 20 years from now and with most of today's music I have heard if you are just counting on the quality of the video there will be nothing else left to remember but a backdated video.
I know you posted this a very long time ago, I wouldn't say it is bad quality as some of it is different to other bits of it-But this video had been watched shit loads over the years so depends how well you kept the video as leaving them in a loft etc can degrade the quality of a VHS Like The Reflex from Duran Duran-This came out in 1984 and the quality still looks clear-ruclips.net/video/J5ebkj9x5Ko/видео.html
Living In A Box is NOT typical of Stock,Aitken and Waterman production nor were they influenced by Tom Jones. LIAB was under Chrysalis records; they had original music and wrote their own songs! I like Tom Jones too, but don't compare LIAB with him. If you don't like LIAB, why waste all your time and effort looking at the band's videos, listening to their music, and curse them on here? Its very easy to watch a singer you like elsewhere and leave the real fans to admire and enjoy LIAB in peace!
Music videos today are bland and shitty, only focusing on the individual and their surroundings filled with fake eye candy. Back then, music videos were created to represent something that the music was aiming at; it gives a sort of image or insight. Even the 90s had their share of good music videos, nowadays it's just who looks weirder and who has more money and bitches then the rest of the world
I actually heard this in 1988, as was on the hit album: Gatecrashing + they recorded + this song was first they recorded for album 1988 + played it live at festvals in 1988 etc
These were on the verge of being a super group. Level 42. Go West. This is such a good track. I bet the singer is reading this. GREAT WORK!
How these guys didn't become MASSIVE I've no idea, their collective talent is off the chart!
Ummm they were in many countries -What you talking about?
@@mikekaraoke She probably means with a lasting impact. They had a few hits, but they didn't last in the same way other Nu Wave acts did.
This is a bit of 80s dross, the kind of dross that gives the 80s a bad name. If you think this is talent I worry for you and your music collection.
1st time, same rhythmic guitar of James Brown "Living in America" at the beginning.
Got this and previous LP;1987&1989. Solo guitar by BRIAN MAY.
wow the great Richard Darbishire- he was a school buddy of mine in Manchester in the early to mid 70s- still a great voice in one of the most underrated groups of the 80s- rock on Rick!!
We have got the power, to build the highest tower, standing with our feet on the ground.
F'ing lyrical genius! Love it!
MTV must have been great to watch in the 80's with cool, wacky videos such as this!
It was. Better that this "Music" today.
This song is permanently etched in my mind from extreme eighties parties. Xing was never better! Great stuff.
Best song of living in the box is def. ROOM IN YOUR HEART.
I always loved this music video for "Blow The House Down" because it perfectly matches the high-energy song. It's simply a fun video with cool effects for a fun song. It's my favorite song from their second album, "Gatecrashing." Thank you for posting this video!
Solo from BRIAN MAY. Living in a box went into an argument with Chrysalis, therefore lefting half of the 3rd lp done.
What a blistering guitar solo. I would expect nothing less from the great Brian May.
This is total 80's cheese and I love it. Great stuff from Living in a Box.
and Brian May.
Wonderful Albert Hammond's song!!!!
This is just such a good song. The first two lines sum up how I feel on a very frequent basis.
Thanks Posttroncs! I'm very glad to see the band back together again.
Take it from an ' old Rocker !!! these Guy's were underestimated in the 80's
The Room In Your Heart video was on RUclips sometime time ago, but was taken off. That was a great vid and I would love to see it again!
Great 80's pop at it's best!! Ah to be 28, slim and blonde again... :-)
Yep, excellent Brian May guitar solo.
Love this video.
@83Brokenwings that was the look the 80s. people looked more sophisticated but with a touch of cool !!
Guitar solo Brian May.......Legend!!!
Also did guitar solo on "love train" by Holly Johnson and "self" by fuzzbox !!!
Heavy metal masquerading as pop - epic!
what is sadder. looking for cheesy pop vids not seen for years or saying yeah! this rocks!
This made me chuckle!! Maybe it's cuz I'm now in my early 50s so this music was "my teenage scene", but enjoying finding all these songs again now (in 2024). Some I remember well, others I'd long forgotten; "re-finding" both is a blast ;-)

This should play everytime Phil Burnell cooks for his wife Khet Burnell.

They look nothing alike-They both have the same kind of voice though
Somebody watched the sledgehammer video i think
Fired up song.

Good times oh I miss so much

In what way would you say of how it is dated?
@@mikekaraoke A bit late to ask this now, mate. Doubt they even remember this post. :)
@@RWright-q5e LMAO-Well they might do!
Where you from my friend? 🙂
Nice !
My local radio station Cool FM played this on the morning of September 12th 2001. Thought it poor timing. Especially given the station played exclusively current pop music at the time. Very strange...
It was 'Blow The House Down', not 'Blow The Towers Down'. Honestly, some people are so touchy... :p
they're living their dream, they're living in a box now.

Befor joining the seven Homelander had a brief career as a pop star!
hahahaha i like this
The ones, I'm furious!
Why was the video cut short? I was loving it..
Shame you don't actually see Brian May do the solo
Why is this in mono?
If Legoshi, from Beastars, was an MMD model rig, then this song would definitely be most suiting for him to sing and dance to. You know? Because of the children's book allusion of "blowing houses down".
OMG!!!!!!!! FROM SHEFFIE? ARE YOU SURE?

@MiggleMuggle DO tell... I wasn't aware that the human race has genetically changed in 20 years...
Even in 1989, the last year of the great 80s decade came out hits with super bass sound like this out !!!!!

BRITISH 🇬🇧 ONE BEST GROUP BAND EVER
FABULOUS
ANOTHER GREAT SHEFFIELD BAND. LOL.
Living in a box tune reminded me of Einstein physics
apparantly l.in.a box worked with Dan hartman for this album & it works a gem
@ RationalConclusion
you hit the nail right on the head.
Very catchy but I hope Diane Warren didn't sue them for using the riff from DeBarge's Rhythm Of The Night lol.
never noticed that .. but the co writer of this song wrote several hits with Diane
