      They likely would have been just as short-lived. Stock, Aitken, & Waterman had a tendency to not have musical acts that could last outside of the music they had them sing and they had marginal vocal talent. Mel & Kim did make a big impact in a very short time considering they only did active promotion of both this and the “Respectable” singles.

      Stock Atiken Waterman were geniuses. A lot of people mocked them at the time for producing trashy music. But their music has held up very well over the years.

Yea, I turned 13 in the summer of '86 and I remember loving this track when it was released. I was probably in love with Mel & Kim for different reasons, big dumb males being that we (mostly) are 😁 ...guilty. I just love the under-emphasised and subtle dance here tho. Sweet! 🥰

    Was an instant fan of Mel and Kim when I first heard this and virtually ran to Woolworths to get my copy still love Mel and Kim and sadly missed mel beautiful gorgeous ladies 😍

    They are so bloody adorable. So sad that Mel died tragically young. One wonders what they would have done if Mel hadn't succumbed to cancer. One single album, but it's an amazing one. Love the PWL sound so much, so utterly 80s and fantastic.

    Atlantic Records had a flood of dance records released around this time. Nice &Wild “Diamond Girl”, Nancy Martinez “For Tonight”, Nu Shooz “Point Of No Return”, Stacy Q “We Connect” just to name a few. Late 1986 into early 1987 had a ton of dance floor hits

      Oh, I so vividly remember when I first heard this song on the radio & then watching them on Top Of The Pops. How I loved walking from Marble Arch to Oxford Circus and stopping off at the HMV store on Bond St. Mel & Kim were so cool. I absolutely loved their music, attitude & style.

    Even after so many years Mel’s tragic fate is hard to take.
    Stock Aitken Waterman had the Midas touch, everyone they produced turned into gold. But the awesome Appleby sisters already were pure gold when they entered the studio. Young English roses…

    A time when music was genuinely appreciated as well as talent being well ahead of itself too. If you notice, the girls were stunning and didn't have to resort wearing less clothes than what is sadly featured in music videos of now.

The music declined by the end of the end of the late 1980's, in fact, it actually died in December 1989 when the 90's took over, with all that ''Hip hop'', ''House'' ''club'' ''Rave'' ''Rap'' '' Spice girls'' RIP great music, 1st January 1960 - 31st December 1989, the cause of death is mentioned above !!

    I remember dancing my ass off to this song and Respecable in the clubs back in the late 80s. I was a senior in high school but boys still got into the kind of bars that I went to back then!! My sister took me out for my 21st birthday when I was legal to drink and it was funny when I came out to her a few years later and told her that I'd been getting in to bars since I was 17!!!

      Kim is still a lovely, classy lady. Saw her on TV watching about the hits factory Saw. At the time because of hit man and her seemed a joke but a young person teenager who knows what apart from a few like songs but they all three, had serious talent. 👍🏼 So respect

    This record still sounds cutting edge and fresh just as it did 32 years ago. Wow. One of my very favorite records ever. One of the best low budget videos ever too - they were so gorgeous and wow could they dance. Nothing remotely comes close to this today.
