Great video. Sitting out in the cold sunshine working on an old engine, what could be better? You are a great man at telling stories, eg. going to the motor factors where you use to work. It makes it feel like we are sitting there beside you. Keep up the great work and thanks for all your fantastic videos this week.
I wish i was over there so i could buy it from you. Thank god you pulled that fuel bowl. You hooked the tank up and i was like oh no hes not going to check the filter!
That's an amazing job on the Lister Adam. I have never seen anyone heat up the big ends with a blow torch before, but makes sense. I wonder if there was something jamming the cooling fins which I think someone else pointed out. Its got a lot of life left in it and would be worth a few quid to the right buyer. Its clearly been well maintained. Thanks for posting the video it really cheered me up when I saw it turn.
yeah I tend to agree. she looks to good in that bottom end to have been stck there. I think maybe is was somthing in the fan. Think she will be a good runner Paul. 😃
I like your videos, I have a diesel single and a petrol single, I am looking at restoring both, and I am looking at getting a twin now that I have seen your videos and listen to the knowledge you have.
Most enjoyable video! Had a great time and was as happy as you when she turned over. I have one of those that I rebuilt and painted hunter green. She cranks by hand or by 12v starter. Still trying to figure out what to use it for. Time will tell. Best wishes to you!😉👍
Hi mate I'm pleased that you got it turning over she sat in the the barn for four years she need the starter ring and starter moter she will go it came of a suger beet cleaner when thay load it up she tip over when it was runing and stopped i am soon finished with the diesel tank and you can put it on that engine good luck mate
Cheers mate. yeah it would be great to get that tank back on it. Will look the part I think. it looks really good in that bottom end. I need to figure what rotation that engine is as it reverse rotation when turned with a handle.
I bet that engine wasn't seized in the first place like you said I think the engine instantly lost fuel and stopped but some of that junk that came out of the flywheel probably jammed that flywheel making them think it was seized. She will run I'm confident she will 👍
I found this same engine in my basement, hooked up to a generator. Im Depending on you to get it running good so I can restore mine using your talents. Thank you.
Nice, Long and Interesting Video. That filter was not fit for purpose 😉. Question... There was a copper pipe fitted just below the Rocker Cover and one end seemed to flat and sealed. what was/is that for. 👍👍
Sorry about that. I was hoping we could go for a start but, but looking at that fuel system and filter it was just not possible I'm afraid.. There will be another video on once I get the bits.
From experience from my past, that does not looked that it was siezed from the big ends. That little heat you applied there was literally nothing. That engine didnt turn over because the flywheel had corrosion somewhere around the cowling. Once I had an engine that was super solid. I bet if you take a look at the bigend shells you wont find them too bad. Good luck mate
yeah I don't think it was siezed due to lack of lubrication. it looks far to good inside. I really just wanted to warm it a little and get some lube there before trying to break it free. I think she will be a good once done.
I do not think that engine seized at all, A small stone fell out when you barred the engine over along with the mud. So I think that when the beet cleaner fell over the fan pulled in the mud and stones that collect underneath those machines and the stone that fell out jammed between the flywheel and housing.
hello i'm really enjoying your channel can you do a video on the cold start of a petter ava1 if you have one laying around iv got one in a boat AND ITS A pIG TO START
@@NorfolkMancave no its a 1951 a think it's anticlockwise start but it's a pig to start I'm thinking of getting the injector serviced and and do a decoke kit on it I never new I could buy that litte kit until I watch your channel keep it up ... but the listers are used in alot of fishing boats and they are getting harder fix because there is no information on them no tutorials or really Anything I did a head gasket on one last year when I pulled off the head and seen the shims I was like WTF befor I found out were the gasket is and what I had to do it was like 3 or 4 days and 2 trys lol but I got it going this litte PETTER AVA1 iv got in a boat I'm wanting it safe befor I go out on the sea 🌊 one turn and there a go so I was looking for a litte bit of help befor a found your channel
That prison uniform needs worshed and then worshed again and one last time worshed a third time so's the constable kin spot yee from a half mile. Not unworshed garb for Adam. This unit may be yer best un.
The amount of information you provided on this video is astronomical! Thank you sir

aw great stuff Mr Shamrock. glad you enjoy the vids. There will be a couple more this week.
I wish i was over there so i could buy it from you. Thank god you pulled that fuel bowl. You hooked the tank up and i was like oh no hes not going to check the filter!
I nearly didn't check it. but thought I ought to really. so glad I did. would not have been good if that water had got to pump or injector.

Hands down, the best vid on youtube on these engines.
Have one just like this. Runs very well, but need generator on it. Thank you for wonderful advice

Oh my word that fuel filter was fill of rubbish good job on getting the engine almost complete lol it’s also my birthday on Sunday.
Yeah she was a good find. I like it a lot. Happy birthday for Sunday Dalton. Have a great day mate.
Another brilliant one Adam well done
Looks like it's going to run and we are looking forward to seeing it happen.
Thanks Sally. yeah I'm looking forward to getting this one going. I think it will be OK. It should sound fantastic being a twin. All the best to Stan.

Yep so far so good , engine hadn't seized at all by the way it turns, I suspect air got into system , very lucky find I'd say !!
Yes I agree Steve. I bet it was either air locked or even crap stuck in the cooling fins. Bet she will run like a Swiss watch.
So pleased to find your channel and subscribe, really like old engines, had a Lister HR3 which was brilliant.
Glad you found it aswell. Hope your finding it interesting and maybe even useful? Love and old HR3, great engines and sound great.
I bet that engine wasn't seized in the first place like you said I think the engine instantly lost fuel and stopped but some of that junk that came out of the flywheel probably jammed that flywheel making them think it was seized. She will run I'm confident she will 👍
Yes I think you are spot on there mate. virtually no gap between that fan and blower housing at all, So could get jammed up so easly. 🤷
I found this same engine in my basement, hooked up to a generator. Im Depending on you to get it running good so I can restore mine using your talents. Thank you.

umm I will have to look at that pipe. I think it was injector leak off pipe. but I'm not sure.
That was a right anticlimax after the build up of it turning over 🧐 I think it will be a runner, there don’t seem any reason it should not run.
Sorry about that. I was hoping we could go for a start but, but looking at that fuel system and filter it was just not possible I'm afraid..

Only playing with ya mate, it all goes to make a good video series 👍🏻from me

@@NorfolkMancave yh I see lot of potential in that engine.
I’m ever so glad to see it’s not siezed solid. :) things are looking up for it.
Yeah she's is very good in that bottom end. I think it was crap jammed in the flywheel.
I think it will start. Good film.
yeah I think it will come good.
Tough as ole boots. And that fuel filter was something else . Did someone just put pure water in there 😂😀👍
I have no idea how that water got in there Harry. for all I know that could have sat outside fir years before being moved into the barn.
Great video I have a lister st 2 that starts and runs for a few seconds then stops won’t rev up is it likely to be the throttle that is stuck
I would love to find one in my area
So an old Brish farmer calls a hose barb a hose tail. Same thing farmers say about nails and such.
Hi there could you tell me what size sockets fits the fly wheel nut on a St2 .cheers Darren
I'm really not sure. Somthing tells me it's 44mm. I know it's big.
I think she’s going to go ,with your attention to detail .
I think she will Steve. looks very good inside. 👍

I think you may well be spot on buddy. she looks far far to good in the bottom end to be siezed in there. she's pretty dam good to be honest.
Thanks for sharing
You might get lucky on this ST2, mine is locked up solid at the pistons.
let's hope. looking forward to getting into it.
It seems to be ok hopefully
Yeah I think she will be fine. looks vert good inside. 👍
Not any nail a masonry nail 😁
Lol.. yeah.. so crude. I must have worked on this before. Lol
Is that used as a marine engine as a narrow boat?
yes they did use these as boat engines. alto I belive this one was agricultural. but who knows what it started life as when new.
hello i'm really enjoying your channel can you do a video on the cold start of a petter ava1 if you have one laying around iv got one in a boat AND ITS A pIG TO START

What is name of engine????
Reckon you want to do the lotto with it being like that
Yeah she was good inside sir. as you can see. I bet withba though fuel system clean and bleed she will fire right up. ✅
What hp are them engines..
I think they are 18. But torque levels are massive.
I bet you one swing and she runs😄😄😄
I think once blead up it will fire right up. Let's hope anyway. 🙏
