*Hi Mr. Hale* . I should receive my Doctorate in a couple years, but could certainly use some help while following the dream to get there........Wishful thinking, I guess🤷?
Did you even watch the video? He gave each graduate $500 to keep for oneself and another $500 to give to others (usually charities) and I’m sure that some graduates will give them to homeless shelter. • And why are you so sure that he didn’t also give money to charities? I don’t see Elon Musk donating money to graduates. One person being generous to another person is still more worthwhile than politicians saying a lot but doing so little. • The graduates also poured much sweats and tears to get their degrees. You’re acting as if they’re so well-off. Some might already be in debt. And it is naive to think that a rich person’s salary can solve the homeless problem. We need more that (e.g. resources, shelter, rehab programs, subsidized home ownership, etc.). Ask yourself what you can do for others, not what others can do for you.
I'm really disappointed in people after reading the comments. It's like the sour grapes effect. Why wouldn't you be happy for a bunch of grads that are highly trained and probably haven't had a decent meal since going to college. And the idea of half going to someone who needs it more, I think it's great to have compassion for others. I'm not sure if most of these comments are from people in dead end jobs and are resentful of their own failure or if it's people hating on the youth for fear of them being better people.
And I'm disappointed that you don't see this as the PR stunt and insult that it is. $1000 per student? That's a rounding error to him. A completely insignificant amount to him. So insignificant that it's insignificant to those who are receiving it.
'Probaly haven't had a decent meal since going to college' The largest section of the UMass Dartmouth campus (and the most students) is the UMass School of Law. Almost every one of these students will go on to become a lawyer.
@DistrustHumanz many will and should be successful but when I graduates waiting for boards I ate a bunch of Ramen to try to pay all the other debts I incurred.
😂 now this is trickle down economics you got a billionaire who gives 400 people $1,000 he couldn't give them $10,000 which would really I made a difference
The man according to internet is worth 5.4 billion dollars. He gives 1k to 1200 students is 120,000. 120,000 of 5.4 billion is 0.0022% of his money, dare we say, "drop in the bucket". Now typical wage earner that is paying for college is we will say 80k (generous, IMHO), to obtain a 1k is like 1.25% of their yearly income. If those folks were to give the same percentage gift out from what they make a year as a student to be like the giving billionaire of 0.0022% of his income. It would be 1.76. I say the students only have to give out 1.76 and not 500 of the thousand he gave to them. They should not have to be any more generous than he was. I find it funny for a billionaire who owns companies that fight against the minium wage to speak of giving to be very hypocritical.
Well I can see you have been ripped of by your education. $1k x 1200 students is $1.2 million goofball. I suggest you request a refund for your education.
Seriously!!! $1,000 from a guy worth $5.4 billion
Seriously!! Another person complaining about free money?

I am full of admiration for that guy. Good for him. I didn't see any of the students refusing the money.
Is a joke, this proof that 4 years of college won’t help you think . Poor generation
Giving rich kids money. How original.
bro thinks people going to umass dartmouth are rich
It's a state school. Not too many rich kids go to state schools 🙄
The Umass Dartmouth campus has the UMass School of Law. Most of these students that got free money will go on to become lawyers.
You cut out the part where he told them.
Every college should invite him to commencement
Sharing alittle of his PPP loan?
That money should go to the taxpayers. 😂
Ok. Students now have their school loans forgiven and now $1,000 cash?
It would be better to do that at a small community college not an elite university.
UMass is a state school. It's not elite

lol he gave them A crumb
How is it possible that there was over 11,000 graduates at a college with just shy of 6,800 students ?!?
Was misspoken. Graduating class is 1,200 this year.
You beat me to it. Extremely bad news reporting.
Must be nice to have so much money you can’t spend it and people praise you for your “charity”
