    I like lemonade, I’m not much of a tea drinker. When my daughter got married years ago, I made regular lemonade, a raspberry lemonade and a lavender lemonade. They were a hit, and I’m thinking for me, herbal lemonades would be something I would enjoy. Shalom.

      I'm ordering 10 lbs of lemons, blood orange and grapefruit from Azure this month. I cannot wait to make all types of herbal citrus fizzy drinks! And now you just reminded me that I need to find some red raspberry plants - so thank you! All my blackberry plants took over the red raspberries...)

      Funny, I would do the same. I have a mystery dehydrated herb. I'm almost sure it is cilantro, and it's a mystery because the I lost the little paper that was in the drying rack when I dried it. I think I will put it in the chicken feed, but need to make sure it won't hurt them first. Otherwise compost time.

    Vanilla beans, hint from the Seychelles where many come from, store them standing upright in a jar with organic brown sugar as a base. Mine have lasted many years that way. And when your beans are used up, the sugar is infused with the vanilla too.

    If you haven't tried Sweet Woodruff, you HAVE TO! I thought I had 2 patches of Cleavers (sticky weed) and to my surprise, one patch was not "sticky". Turns out it's Sweet Woodruff. We were drinking some of my spring tonics (fizzy soda type) and we couldn't figure out the cinnamon taste when I didn't add any. Well, it was the Sweet Woodruff! So good!! (btw....I'm not writing down what I put in each so of course the guys say "Make this kind again"....and ha....no clue which is which. smh)

I like to use certain herbs as bases (stinging nettle, red and white clover, mullein, Passion flower, catnip, etc.) and then add my flavorful herbs like wild chamomile (pineapple weed), mints, thymes, lemon balm, etc. and homegrown stevia or local raw honey to sweeten. I’ll also add citrus peels, pine needles and dried berries. One of my favorites is stinging nettle with lemon thyme and stevia. 😋

    Have you ever tried drying rhubarb stalks to add to tea???
    My elderberries seem to have been overrun by poke salad.
    I've started using my asparagus pot to make tea. I get more than a half gallon that way. I can keep some to drink & still fill 3-4 quart jars and fridge for quick refreshment.
    Yes. I can attest that citrus peels decocted in tea helps with arthritis pain & inflammation.

      But doesn't apply to roots & some mushrooms. Applies to loose herbal teas.

    I see those Black Walnut Hulls lyign around sometimes. To me they were always green brains and I know you have a vid on that so I am going to watch. I didn't realize they were good for anything. I did suspect there might be a walnut in them,. I would not want to get hit with one of them as it fell off the tree, tho.

    Wondering what herbs would mix well with Moringa leaves?

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  6 месяцев назад +1

      I would say anything with a strong flavor as moringa is similar to strawberry leaves in the green flavor they have

    Off subject, do you have a video regarding herbal remedies for bee stings and bug bites?

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  6 месяцев назад +1

      Plantain is one of the best for those. Chew up a leaf and apply directly to the sting, it is pretty amazing and I have done this twice one after being stung in the garden by yellow jackets. Works very fast and removing the sting and not even leaving a mark

    I watch your videos all the time. Would it be okay to put plantain and valerian root together for skin problems? Thanks

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  6 месяцев назад +1

      I do not recall valerian being good for skin, I may have covered that in my valerian video but I reserve that for internal use. Plantain, yarrow, comfrey, arnica, dandelion flowers, calendula flowers are the herbs I most commonly use for skin problems

    I don't mean to be dense but do you use the hull or the walnut Shell for the tea and medicinal purposes? And how do you do this?

  • @tammyhill954
    @tammyhill954 6 месяцев назад +1

    Heidi, since you brought up back walnut hulls again I have a question. Let me start by saying another lady I follow, whom I believe to be very knowledgeable as well said, black walnut hulls are "ivermectin". What is your knowledge of that?

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  6 месяцев назад +3

      Likely what she meant is it works like Ivermectin not that it IS Ivermectin since Ivermectin is a lab created pharmaceutical

    • @tammyhill954
      @tammyhill954 6 месяцев назад +3

      Yes I am sure that is what she meant. I wish I would have had that knowledge 3 years ago ☺️

    Hi Heidi
    Is there a recommendation you can make for yarrow blend?

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  6 месяцев назад

      Yarrow is not one I use in teas often but I do know using too much of the greens in a tea can make it better. Best to stick with the flowers for better flavor

    Do you dry your orange mint and lemon balm

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, I do for use during the winter though I do not put up as much of it as I do peppermint as I prefer using both of them fresh as they are coming in. I do also dry lemon balm to add to chicken feed for the benefits though
