Funny how the kings Indian defense is the reliable opening when in reality it is one of the most risky and dangerous openings in chess almost like a gambit but a positional one instead of material
I'm new to it but it really seems like you can kind of "option-select" what kind of game you want to play with it. Like once you have the setup you're looking for, you can usually (instead of e5) play c5 if you want to keep it chill. Also even though you're technically compromising your king safety in the e5 lines by storming your kingside pawns, your king is so thoroughly drenched in friendly pieces that the opp has to trade off a lot to get any kind of attack going on him to exploit that positional drawback. It feels very smooth to play, just closing the center and amalgamating all of your pieces on your king's quadrant.
When you don't know the shit ton of theory behind KID, after getting out the generic setup and making two or even one mistake you have either a losing position or a lose in the next few moves so in that matter KID is no different with abominations like idk Grob for example
The best openings have a few tricks and traps for your opponent to fall into but a solid development plan if they don't. I play the Nimzowitch Larsen for this reason.
0:17 Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Bane lied about his true goals of blowing Gotham up while Joker was always honest about just wanting to see the world burn.
Not everyone watched the movie, so we can just judge from their appearances. I know I am wrong, but tbf and tbh Joker looks like a tricky guy and Bane looks solid
Im a novice and the Hippo helped me a lot... also, its very variable, u actually can use a lot of king's idians defence attacks with it. U can actually be very agressive if the adversary doesnt know what to do. Keep an eye to control adversary's knights, they, to me, are the thing that can treaten u the most in early/mid game with the Hippo. I could be wrong about this but im just talking about recent experience using it. Cheers ;)
I mean there are certain gambits where they are still viable at North of 2000 level it's just there is only a few that survive past that level you can't just play any gambit you want like the scotch, Evans gambit and a few other of these Italian/scotch gambits work with white and the benko gambit with black works there's also a degree of it being worth noting what gambits are theoretically solid and playable if your opponent knows the opening vs dubious if your going to start playing gambits learn the theoretically solid ones
I like how you reference the queen & rooks as "Heavy artillery" at 2:11, because in my native language Finnish the minor & major pieces are both called "Kevyet upseerit" & "Raskaat upseerit", which transaltes to: "Light officers" & "Heavy officers":D The word artillery just works very well in this context and I thought it would be just funny to mention that the pieces are called officially in atleast one language as "Light and heavy" pieces😄
Lol compared to the englunds and Latvians,I'd say it is more solid and positional especially how I play it with Na6 and ideas on the c5 square.. but yeah u're ryt lol, above a certain rating,it does become a double edged opening.
Man I am a 2000 and it sucks that every game you play is a dead game. But every game your opponent or you will make 1 silly blunder which will decide the entire game
Morphy's father must be the gold standard for fathers who raised their child to succeed where they failed and then gets absolutely blasted away by his son once he reaches his zenith!
"strategic", my ass, do that e5 move from King's indian against Lichess anonym and he'll swallow that pawn, will be bitching with this "advantage" for the rest of the game and then will blunder an exchange to later disconnect.
Paul Morphy never suffered from the mental health issues Fischer had. Moreover, Evan’s Gsmbit has been played at all levels well into chess modernity. Gambits (esp fad gambits) are dubious, but not all of them are equally bad.
He was a closeted drag conisouer and today would’ve likely had hormone replacement surgery. You can say he wasn’t mentally ill, but he absolutely wasn’t neurotypical
Imho I think the scotch gambit is playable at 2000 and above, maybe not consistently at master level. Scotch gambit isn't like the Danish where it can super easily neutralized.
Nice. Tbh, some gambits which are rare have indeed given me a lot of quick wins and pretty good return of investment. If you can learn every gambit in existence, it'll surely give quick wins in blitz, bullet and sometimes even rapid.
@@mortalchess I just had a feeling about the first two moves and intuition really plays a huge role in chess. a lot of people can do 9-12 move checkmates in puzzles but doing it in real games insane because you have to use your time wisely even though these things can only happen in classical or rapid
I never play gambits, and if I ever study them,it’s for refuting or crushing noobs. The only gambits I play nowadays are Benko,QG,Scotch and a few risk averse lines of the King’s Gambit
after all exchanges are made, the material is equal while black has a slightly better position (dxe5, dxe5, Nxe5, Qxd1+, Bxd1, Nxe4, Nxe4, and finally Bxe5)
I dont think its disrespect at all, u can also counter those gambits if u know then. I recomend to learn (I didnt learn all) to know how to defend against. They also are micro/macro, in a way that a lot of moves repeat or have similar patterns in the game, so, learning most of what u can will give u repertoir. U will respond quickly the more u know, u will even be able to be more creative (such as Mikhail Tal) in finding ways to open up position. The thing in chess that most amazes me is that u are not obliged to take whateaver is to take (as in checkers, for ex) and sometimes ppl forget that when they see a free pawn... sometimes the oponent didnt blunder at all, he just have other plans, sometimes he did blunder and u are overthinking... I think the more I learn about some gambits, more I can see what could harm me... I dont use em cause I dont know deep enough to handle middle/late end game.
