Cole, Cooper, and DC, I’m a 5th grade language arts and social studies teacher from Louisiana. I show your videos to my students so they can witness what it is to be a farmer in Iowa. Blessings to your family and Godspeed to all of you .
That is very smart on your part. I recommend you for the Teacher of the Year award.😊
Fantastic to hear this. Our youth need this kind of education. I thank you! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Referencing your sickle issue: I have found that using those impacts while tightening the bolts weakens them by causing stress fractures within the bolt. I now loosely tighten the bolts with the impact and finish it off with the ratchet. It is slightly slower, but I have fewer issues and, therefore, actually save time. Thanks for the content. God bless ya.
Yes, I totally agree. Was told by a long time John Deere mechanic that impacts not best on Sickles
same here
Same here, never use impact on those bolts, we use little 3/8 ratchet. To much power in those impacts for those little bolts.
The height of laziness. Using an impact on knife bolts. Kids today can't work on anything without an impact. Most can't work on anything at all
Would these bolts not have a torque setting!
Cooper is amazing! 😊
“The computer we have between our brains is incredible.” Cole, DC’s son. 🤣🤣🤣
Fer shore!
was just going to write the same thing - haha. Definitely DC son.
Dad ran a skunk through a combine years ago. My aunt was 1/2 mile away, downwind, and the smell made her sick.
I was on a Greyhound that killed a skunk....stench of " cooking" skunk stuck inside the bus for over an hour
Working is not an excuse for not working out. Working is a responsibility you’ve taken on in partnership with your father and your brother. The three of you share in the efforts it takes to realize the success of the farm.
Your father and brother do not benefit from your working out, it is your own personal gain. There will be time for working out when the work is complete.
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
Maybe you can put a windmill over the pump thingy, cover the bottom with wood slats, except where the new plug is. I think that would look great! I love your show and am really enjoying everything about this house remodel, including the clean out.
Cole...as a long time watcher and former weight lifter I just wanted to tell you your gains are very noticeable! No longer are you the string bean we all started watching years ago! Good job sir! It is definitely tough making sure you get a daily workout in especially when life is so busy. Also wanted to say I watched Nave's video of you guys finding out about baby #2 on the way and you were joking about her eating fertilizer. Trust me, its not just her. Your exercise regimen has also raised your testosterone levels significantly as well. In other words you better be careful how you even LOOK at her these days! Lol...congratulations on #2 coming in December.
Thank god for Cooper, the cornstars make a fabulous team. Cole you are an inspiration to us all.
My time farming was mid '90's. I cannot imagine having a cordless impact driver to replace bad bad sickles. We had a box with wrenches on the side of the swather with a first aid kit for the resulting hand injuries. My area (Eastern NoDak) did little straight cutting. I love seeing your modern tech show yields, that would fuel my love for farming. I appreciate your channel showing what a farmer does.
I love how you and Cooper each have your specialties on the farm. There’s nothing Cooper can’t repair or figure out and you Cole love doing the books and keeping up with yield data. Both of you are experts in different areas but can fill in anywhere needed. That is a very special relationship you 2 have. The true definition of brothers!❤
You are so lucky to have everyone that is good at some many things! So many farmers would love to have Cooper on call whenever needed!
American Farmers are some of the hardest working people. I love each and every one of you!! Thank You for what you do. We have to protect our Farmers and make the best Policies for them in our Government to help them. That doesn’t always happen. But hopefully it will later on. Either way, Cole and Family and ALL you farmers out there, we salute you and thank you for what you do day in and day out. Many of us see you and appreciate your hard work. Cole, your channel helps bring attention to the hard work it takes to run a Farm. You and your brother are also a fantastic role model for our young people. Keep up the great work. 🙏🏼❤️🇺🇸
Hi Cole. I enjoy your channel your transparency, both personal and business. Just want to encourage you to take adequate time to rest your body. The rest will not only be more efficient in your thinking and be safer operating the equipment. What I really want to share with you is that you will also reduce your chances of acquiring chronic illnesses. I have retired from being an Insurance broker. I enjoyed my career and the farm clients that I served. For most of this career I worked 14-16 hour days. I had no regret at working these hours. Upon reflecting back, maybe I would not have had a heart attack at age 47 not there bouts of cancer in my 60s. Please take care of you so that you will be there for your family. There is so much ahead of you in raising your son and comforting your spouse. Take care.❤
Cooper is a guy ahead of his time...
Cole you look styling and ready for harvest day 3 plus!!
Cooper is the backbone of the farm
@@myronparks3495 😒
Dont use the impact to tighten the knife bolts all the way in, it stretches the bolts and weakens them. I always use a 7/16 wrench or socket with a hand held ratchet for putting new bolts in or final torque on old ones.
I was about to say the same thing. We always keep a socket set and use that.
There are large size cup holder gadgets. They fit the standard cup holder and give you a large one on top. They're geared towards large water bottles and should fit that thermos.
I have one off of Amazon and it works great. I’m a chauffeur/bus driver and some of the vehicles I drive have tiny cup holders. This thing really saves the day!
You guys have worked very hard to get to where you are today and are in the way to the most amazing farm possible. Every year is different and keeps getting better with higher yields and upgraded equipment. Keep up the awesome job and videos, I am proud of you and loving the sexy smiling face you always have. You make life look so much better! 😎
You and Roman crack me up..😂 You guys work really hard each day, no matter if you're working on the house, shops,or in the fields. Take some of the brick and make an arch in your house, flower bed, or brick patio.
Cooper is the real farmer machine mechanic here. No applause expended but does it all. As thanks and a hug grand pa . Four parts in one day and a skunk, cooper is laughing at you….
Coop can do the work by himself that 2 normal men can accomplish!!
Cole, these videos are SO important. Such a great educational tool. Ag schools should connect students with you. Things you just don’t know!
Lots of good camera work with harvesting and repairs! 👍
Activated charcoal bags do a good job of absorbing nasty odors. Might want to keep a couple in the cab.
Re working out: stress is stress. The body will keep going until it can't and you end up sick or injured. You have a LOT of stress. Consistency is better than intensity. Do what you can do during harvest and move on. Maybe one squat, one pull, and one press a week is plenty for now. I don't know - but I bet you do!
You guys are doing an amazing job with this basement! I honestly know what a hard job this is, and not the cleanest job either. I'm sad that Justin injured his arm today. I hope he will be okay! Thanks for a great video!!
I think during harvest you can miss some workouts, the harvest is priority, and a bonafide excuse. After harvest, you have no excuses.
You’re a father now, everything changes when that happens. Working out should be one of the last things you think of unless you’re training for the olympics
I love all the Cornstar channels.. You are all great RUclipsrs. Your harvest vids are excellent.
Cole- your musings at the end about priorities are things that pretty much all of of have, or have had. Your priorities change constantly. Again, I think that is true for all of us. We do the best we can, and, that is all we can do. Take care, my friend. (And stop running over skunks!)
You guys would be lost without Cooper. Awesome video Cole. 🚜🚜🚜
I LOVE your videos! I can’t wait for them! Thanks!
You don’t need to put the impact drill in the toolbox, just need to make sure Cooper is nearby 😁
Cole….I ‘m a 73 yr. old man and you always impress me with your work ethic and knowledge. That goes for Cooper and your dad also. Your dad makes me laugh sometimes. He’s a great guy!!!🌽🌽🌽
Working hard for long hours is necessary sometimes.
Hard work ages us a little but sleep rejuvenates us.
When you don't get enough sleep you can never rejuvenate from what you lost that day.
The process starts over each day.
That's why it's important to try to get a good night's sleep whenever you can.
Thank you! God bless your family!
@Haydenonharvest put a piece of chain that drags on the ground under the combine. Says the keeping the static down really reduces window dust from soybeans.
You should feel privileged. The sickle sections used to be fastened to the cutting bar with rivets. When you broke one, you had to chisel the head off the rivet and hammer it out before adding and compressing a new rivet to hold the section. Nuts and a bolts would have been a real treat. Took 3 times longer.
It’s Cole the CornStar time 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hit a skunk?? That really stinks!!
😂
Ran a skunk through a 2388 while running 8 rows of corn lodged at the first joint. Thought I was burning up the combine til I stepped out of the cab!
The impact is nice and fast to change bolts but they can stretch and weaken bolts aswell.
Always fascinating to watch everything play out and the machinery run. I did coastal hay for years. Nowhere near as complicated as this but there are many similarities. You got to love your machines and you gotta take good care of them too. Day in the life stuff is always cool. And changing teeth on the sickle. Yes, I'm very familiar. We always did it with hammer rivets and a grinder. I like your version better. Lol
Cole your knocking a huge day in to feed your family and your families families, doing a work out would be good but sleep is really important too no need to put more pressure on yourself
what i did for the cup hoder is get my nephew to 3D print an adaptor that sat in the cup holder but the top was wide enough for my thermos or jug of tea... works great... you got one or know someone who can design and 3D print one for you... try it.
Cole la Estrella del Maiz! Cole the corn star ⭐️ 🌽 there’s just something about farming that cleanses your heart and soul and makes u feel fulfilled.
You were making me tired, lol. My alarm goes off at 2:40am, which is sleeping in for some people where I work. Gotta put in the hours when you can.
Great job, Cole, good start to the harvest. 😁👌👌👌👏👏👏❤️❤️
Thanks for the vids, entertaining and educational. That combine sure takes alot of maintenance and repairs! Unfortunate you cant upload fules from other brands.
I have made a mental note to not accept an invite to have dinner at Coles.
But Maybe some pizza and chocolade milk with Daddy Cornstar?
I'm sure Nave would make a mean Mexican dinner for us!
@@HensOnly : Ansolutley! No doubts! 👍
Have you tried taking small dumbbells with you so you can exercise while on autopilot? Small weights with tons of reps define your physique and you will not feel as guilty because you did exercise during down moments of time.
@@guillermodelnocheyou still need at least like 50% intensity for anything meaningful to happen, do a thousand reps with 1lbs dunbbells and all you’ll get is tired and no gains
Love your work keep it up bud gods bless to you
Thanks for the banana/potato potassium compare! I did not know that!
Love seeing that MacDon case head roll down the field
You should have a chain hanging to the ground from the frame to help with the static. Should help keeping the windows clean.
pooph odor eliminator will take care of the smell for sure. It works on all smells. Loved the video. Thank you and Cooper
After a long day of work at Amazon I was happy to Watch a video for once in a about a week
Loudon Wainwright had a song about a dead skunk in the middle of the road in 1972 DC would probably remember it and probably changed the words as in Loose Wheel song he occasionally sings to us. Gosh I have sooo just dated myself tbh I had lots of older siblings who told me about that song.
Hello. You make a point that moisture levels determine harvest proficiency. Then I have to strain to see it only goes down to 10.8 % by the end of the day. It's interesting how as you get tired your mind questions your disciplines. What is important is when you rationalize exceptions, you are able to return to your disciplines. Thank you for a soybean harvest video. You are competent at massive volumes. ✌️
Those sickle bolts are a soft metal they really only need to be tightened to snug + a little bit
Glad to hear that you found a cure for the smokers hotel room smell !!!
Roll that beautiful bean footage 😁
Have you ever seen that Bushs bake beans commercial?
Can't wait to see how the corn does..
Stay safe..Dont work to hard.
Those bolts shear when they are over-torqued. Look up the actual torque specs on them, do 2 or 3 with a torque wrench, then throw the impact on them and watch it spin the nut an extra rotation or 2 when you run it your typical amount.
Those Grade 8's can withstand more force but are more likely to shear than stretch near the limit.
Nice job Cole and friends
Hey cole, i bet if you purchased more land, Nave's family would work it. Kill two stones with one bird, help out the extended family and build a large empire while doing so. Win win!
When you aren't so rushed, you should totally get some equipment and try to dig up that rock. A farmer a couple miles from my place had a small rock peeking out of the dirt like that. He got a backhoe and when the whole thing was done, that rock was the size of a compact car. Somehow he got that sucker out of the ground and to the edge of his field. Folks drove from miles around to look at it.
Such a hard worker.
My wife hit a skunk with our vehicle a few years back. What we found that worked to get the smell out was buy ground coffee and put it in a coffee filter and set it in the back seat. The coffee will absorb the smell.
Anyways love your content.
Have you thought about putting culverts and crossings in strategic spots for crossings
Hey Cole,
Greetings from Dawson County, Montana!
You are a ,/strategist/business extraordinaire. Good for you, your family and the farm.
If I may offer one word of caution in your case: I used to farm 20+ years ago and when I was your age, I too was as motivated as you and if I ever thought of maybe take things a little easier, get more sleep or...whatever, I thought I was being a slacker and would push even harder to excel at everything regarding the farm and it's day to day operation.
I pushed myself so hard to excel that a viral infection, associated with stress and it's effects on my body, affected my heart and one week before my40th birthday, I was told by the cardiologist that I needed a heart transplant in order to save my life.
I had a wife and 3 year old daughter who desperately needed me to be there for them. I learned the hard way that no amount of energy expended to my farm was worth the idea of me not being there for them.
Cole, I see a lot of you in me when I was your age. Be careful with your feelings of not doing enough every day to reach your goals. You may burn yourself out. Nave, Eddie, and your note yet born 2nd child need you more than ever now.
Take care Cole. Thanks for sharing your harvest with all of us.
I would get sick of that “meal plan” real quick but that is the difference between seeing food as fuel or pleasure.
You know your tired when your rambling on.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Love watching your life.
Well skunk smell will fix old smoke smell in cab LOL. My dad ran skunk through combine once it was bad. Dad drove semi had a load of cow hides on flatbed trailer dripping salt everywhere. He hit a skunk in his cab over with drivers side steer tire. They waved him through border crossing into Canada and waved him through crossing back in U.S no inspection either way LOL. Then dad parked it in the drive mom wasn't happy and neither was neighbors. Dad got 40 foot flatbed with truck backed into the drive on residential street in DM.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
I’m definitely not a farmer by no means but if your combine has a cabin filter check and see if they offer a charcoal filter, this will take care of the smell. I’ve got a 2014 corvette I bought brand new and a couple years ago it turned cold quick like and a couple of mice found their way in my car. I was lucky enough to catch them early causing little to no damage but they made home of my cabin filter! I blew air down in the system vacuumed out the system and sanitized the system and still would get a slight hit of a mouse terd. Purchased a charcoal cabin filter and been aces ever since!
I have always wondered about your "hatred" of trees. Then I heard you talk about tree shade on your crops and dropped limbs affecting your harvest.
My trees give me shade and I don't fret about its affect on grass.
But you are in a different environment. Now I understand.
At least you are using the safety stop!!! Don’t ever feel bad about the extra trip out of the cab
Very true, pity his friend chet larson does,nt follow suit
Cole's new name with child number two on the way. Popcorn star.
Cole you should get a cup holder addator so it holds bigger cups. Mine also has a holder for my phone and sunglasses.
Cole, Check back cause I don't understand, You said "The computer we have between our brains is incredible" i thought it was between our ears. Take care and God Bless You and your Family.
That's the difference between Cole and then Cole the Cornstar!!
The computer we have between our brains is incredible 🧐🤓😜❤️
Over torquing with impact causing bolt failure. Use a rachet to tighten
Technology on the equipment is impressive
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks 😎
Your memory will improve if you keep sleeping at least 7 hours. Maybe work out in the morning and then you won't be pumped up before bed. I actually should do that but with my work and school schedule I really can't. Of course I have not been working out for 6 months now but I am trying to get back to it.
que bien que aprendas espa;ol, muy pocos estadounidences se toman el tiempo de aprender este bello idioma, love the channel
Yes it’s a very beautiful language! It’s a great asset to know it and to show respect to many good people in the USA and other nations!
Sorry for you man! That situation just stinks LOL!
vamos a la playa!
I remember on The show The Partridge Family, they had to take a bath in Tomato Juice to get rid of The Skunk Smell.
Yeah! You hit 555k LOL love it keep up the great work man!
Hello. Thank you for sharing
You all certainly know what a day's work looks like!
Sleep is very important for mental and physical recovery. Remember Cole you have a long life ahead so take care of yourself for those two quite kids.
@Cole, I'm curious your daily quantities. How much fuel in a day for planting, spraying, and harvesting? You share the yields. But the background cost numbers would be interesting too.
What a strange combo of food! Lol
Question, you waited to harvest beans until they were dry enough to crack by biting them. #1 - Does air moisture (humidity, morning dew) effect the beans over night as in absorb moisture? #2 - If the pod cracks why not harvest and allow the beans to dry in the hopper, cart, or silo?
Almost wonder if they we’re breaking from a bit of overtorque from the impact when installing them. Done that more then once.
You cracked all your beans profit.
Cole; Always wear ankle high hikers on the farm Farms and country areas are hard on ankle injuries.
I make it mandatory for hikers on my place.
That matt black on the semi is killer
