- Learn how to sew perfect zippers for your bags and pouches in this zipper tutorial. All you need for that perfect result is double sided sewing tape, and a few tricks I'll show you here!
Sewing zippers in bags can be an intimidating task if you've never done it before, or if maybe you've done it and had less than perfect results. In this video I show you how I sew zippers in bags. Making sure you avoid those wavy, uneven zippers that can be such a disappointment in your finished bag.
** A little note I didn't quite cover well enough in the video (and my editing skills are not that great yet, but I'm working on it ;) ) is that it's not only important to not pull the fabric, but also very important to not pull on/distort the zipper tape while taping it in place either, as that too can result in a wavy zipper.
The bag I'm sewing in the video is the small version of my Denver Double Zip Bag, I'm making it in Katarina Roccella's Indelible collection, her Flutter Folds print for the exterior, and the striped lining fabric is "Mystique" by Katia Hoffman for Windham Fabrics and the pattern can be found here: www.pinkponyde...

I love this video! Helped me identify what I was doing wrong when sewing zippers
Great video thank you 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Can you tell me how you keep the zipper closed while moving the zipper pull? Mine always opens and the zipper pieces pull apart.
Do you think it'd be fine to use the non-water soluble tape when doing a zipper?
Yeah absolutely, I do it all the time, just make sure you don't accidentally place it so it's not covered by fabric as it might be a little tricky to get rid of =)
Love your fabric!
Love your colors, and the way you show your art!
Thank you so very much!
Perfect, thank you
Love this video. Very helpful. I’m bag mad, but still working on getting my zip stitching straight. Thanks for sharing 🤗
I'm so glad you thought so, thank you! And best of luck with future zippers =)
Thx for your demonstration, I love your fabric!
I'm so glad you liked it! The fabric is from Katarina Roccella's Indelible collection, her Flutter Folds print for the exterior, and the striped lining fabric is "Mystique" by Katia Hoffman for Windham Fabrics =)

Hi! Did you sew matching fabric pieces to the sides of your zipper before installing it?
Yes, I add the "zipper tabs" before I install the zipper, that part is described in the pattern =)
Here you go; a free tutorial on how to sew zipper tabs, you're welcome! ruclips.net/video/XDXNP_HkK28/видео.html

Love your videos.
Awww, thank you! You made my day!
Funny I'm scared doing zipper tabs, and how to adjust the zipper and tabs for any size bags
I couldn’t hear clearly what foot you are using. Please spell for me. Thank you. Very informative video.
It's a 1/4" compensator foot, it's an industrial foot. If you have a domestic, you can use a 1/4" guide foot (with a metal guide on the side) to help you. If you're using a different seam allowance than 1/4", a magnetic seam guide is a fantastic help.
