As a current Honda owner I have been waiting for the release of this Pilot! Your reviews are fantastic and super helpful for this father to be! I love almost everything about it. That 9inch screen has me dumbfounded given the price and what the direct competition in Kia, Hyundai and Toyota offer from a tech perspective. Like it looks like that dash is made ready to take the 12in screen they introduced in the 23 accord. But they didn’t… The space and practicality of everything else though is very appealing. What didn’t get touched on in this review was the addition of HUD and the Bose sound system. This new pilot has pretty much everything, but that screen!

Thank you for the mom review! We've been a Honda family forever because of their plethora of car seat/latch configurations and are going to be replacing our '08 Pilot this summer. We're definitely leaning Telluride over Pilot, though. Your review for that was amazing and since we're phasing out of car seats over here (12yr old is already 5'5"; 10yr old is still in no-back booster; 8yr old in a high-back), the luxury conveniences (and normal things like ceiling vents) are higher on my list than latch placement. Though that removable middle seat is *chef's kiss*, I wish that they, and all other manufacturers, would just make two adult-size seats in the back, a la Atlas and 4Runner.
Great review! I currently have a Pilot, but I noticed the new one doesn't have the DVD anymore. Big let down for me bc I have small kiddos and they love in our Pilot now.
most kids seem to have personal devices these days so I am sure it probably isn't used as much as they once were. At least they have embraced USB ports for every seat for such device use.
I’m glad the screen is small. I hated the ‘20-22 12 inch screen trend. This is going to be a great competitor for the Korean brothers in this class. I really think this is the perfect mid size 3 row. Honda reliability. Perfect space. AWD capable as tested on TFL channel. Don’t think there is any cons for this. Oh and my kids will survive without ceiling vents like we did in the 80/90s. These new cars have such advanced AC systems idk why she still makes this comment on new cars. Excited to test drive this later when they get to lots.
Clearly you never had to haul a child and a rear facing car seat in the middle of summer just to take them out of it and they’re drenched in sweat no matter how high up the AC is. That’s why she makes such an emphasis on ceiling car vents. It’s mostly for parents of smaller children who are still in rear facing car seats.

I have a ‘22 Special Edition. Things I like better about this ‘23 Pilot: -exterior style is 💯 -panoramic sunroof 🤩 -middle beach middle seat 😍 -better cup holders 🥤 -Bird’s eye view camera is way cool! Things I like better about my ‘22 Pilot: -integrated screen -center console size and ease of access -can’t tell, but are there armrests here? I love my armrests! - the price - I paid like $8,000 less than this trim. Hope that helps someone!
We also have the 22’ special edition. The Panoramic is available in the 22’ elite. (Just couldn’t get one) also Captain’s chairs with the bench option also in the 22’ elite. But felt the birds eye was odd to not have in even the special. Wish the 22’ had the back storage depth. Everything else is spot on! Oh, The driver door cup holder, thats a selling point for my wife.
I’m driving a 2009. Owned a 2003 and this is my second 2009. I never wanted to get 3rd gen but I will end up owing a 4th gen at some point. Love it. It does have a backup camera but you may have already covered that after mentioning early in video that it doesn’t have backup camera.
She's talking about a rear view camera so you can see behind you while driving when your visibility is obstructed from passengers/length, not a backup camera. Two different things :)
Backup cameras have been federally required in every newly manufactured vehicle since 2018. Shes talking about the rearview mirror being a camera. Once you start chauffeuring preteen boys it is damn near impossible to see anything in the rearview mirror thru their big heads!
Width between the wheel wells? Will 2 24 inch dog boxes fit side by side? Can you manually turn the lights on? Can you manually lock/unlock the vehicle? Is there space for a real spare tire or just a donut?
I’m also looking at a sorrento sx - prestige or the hybrid version. I have a 2017 pilot elite . I like the sporty look of the sorrento, the tech , the better gas mileage because we drive a lot of miles & I don’t need a 3rd row all the time so going a little smaller is fine!
@@paleobrownie1474 yeah I upgraded from a 2017 Toyota Highlander limited and I looked at 2022 Highlander and it was a bit meh looked at the Sorento sat in it salesman showed me everything and I knew it was the car for me

Wait sorry if this is a dumb question… ab to have 3 kids myself & I’ve never owned a 3-row suv. So the very last thing you said- no car seat tilt- does this mean every time your 3rd row kid has to get back there you have to uninstall a car seat? 😮
Very honest review. For $53k car, lack of rear view mirror camera is a big miss from safety point of view for a big vehicle. Also screen size is not appealing. Overall it looks good and adding additional seat in 2nd row is game changer. Otherwise it was going to loose again infront of Palisade and Telluride. Still Honda should think to provide an upgrade option for atleast Elite model for real view mirror camera. It would be great safety feature.
I love how this suv looks. I also love the small screen. What do you need a huge screen for? You’re supposed to be looking At the road. I feel like a bigger one would just distract the driver. It’s the perfect size!
I really hope Honda gives this same styling to the Passport when they redesign it! I don’t need a 3rd row so a Passport would make more sense but I love this new Pilot!
Wow I’m impressed! About to have a 3rd baby and debating if we need a different car but don’t want to necessarily go to a full size SUV. Excited to see another option! Wish my Palisade Calligraphy had this bench option!!!
Maybe on the next gen but overall the Palisade is more luxurious and has a better tech package.Palisade has heating in ALL three rows. With all the winter storms and all, that means a lot more comfort for everyone. Palisade also has a bigger touchscreen (no wireless Android Auto or Car Play) and configurable driver's display.
@@anthonyesiemokhai1603 Palisade also has no overhead sunglasses holder and no folding exterior mirrors. But I miss my 2020 palisade which I sold summer of 2022. It had middle row airconditioned and heated seats! Now waiting for ordered Kia Telluride.
I have a 22 pilot and I obviously like the looks of the new one better, but it’s lame they took out the blue ray player. Sorry, but it’s awesome. Ceiling vents are not a huge deal because I feel like the second row gets some ventilation from the third row vents on the side. I am glad I bought when I did because the ‘23 would also not fit in my garage.
How does this compare to an entry-to-mid level Acura MDX? Based on the prices for the Pilot Elite trim, it almost makes more sense to step up in class.
The MDX has more of an emphasis on sporty handling and things like better screens and tech but the Pilot has more cargo space and a much better third row. As a two row vehicle the MDX is really comparable but does not have adult sized rear seats and has no vents in the back. A base MDX compares well to a Pilot Touring. Price not that different and content very similar. Higher trim MDXs are much more expensive but do offer some features the Pilot doesn't.
Found your page a few days ago and loving it!! Sad they did away with the DVD system 😢😢 I have a 2019 Honda Pilot Elite and the Tv is a hit for my kiddos! Wish they would have kept it
Thanks! Would love to see the comparison of this and the 2024 Grand Highlander. The outer dims and cargo specs would be great. The Max Hybrid version or this is what I'm looking at. Thanks
I bought a brand new 2023 Honda Pilot Sport three weeks ago. It is bigger and looks better than previous generations. It's gas mileage is average, performance is OKish, nothing impressive. The brake is not responsive, you have to push the brake harder to get it stopped. But, The second day, the check engine light on. Here is the message:"Emissions system problem. Power may be reduced. See dealer". I immediately drove it to the dealership Service Dept. But, that Service Advisor said I did not make an appointment and has a kind of "do not care" attitude. It took me lots of efforts and almost 5 trips, eventually, they said it a sensor issues which is in some kind of value of the gas tank areas. They put order to replace the value and sensor. But, it has been over 15 days and no ETA from the supplier! Plus, the driver side wiper blade simply flew away the first time I turned it on in the heavy rain. It took three phone calls and two appointments to get the new wiper blade installed because it need to be "ordered" also. On the left side of back window, the bottom trim is not glued well and can easily peel off and has not fixed by the Service Dept yet. Since 1996,I used two Honda Accord which were very reliable. and a Honda Odysessy van which had transmission issues after 6 years. After that, I bought new Acura MDX and drove it for over 15 years and very reliable. That is the reasons I come back to bought this 2023 Honda Pilot. But, looks like Honda's build quality dramatically degraded. If I have choice now, I will NEVER buy Honda cars again. First, the manufacturing quality is very bad from my experience with the brand new Pilot, secondly, the experience with the Service dept is very bad also. Especially with the ordering of parts, it take over 15 days , no ETA ! what's hectic ! From the Honda manufacturer to the Service, the Honda is degrading big time. I will not recommand anybody to buy the 2023 Pilot.
Thanks for the review! I am interested to know how it drives? 0-60? Passing performance on highway when you are already at 70mph. Uphill/down hill performance, how that hill mode works? Etc
Handles like a car with rugged suspension in the TrailSport trim having high end off-road capabilities. Hill performance has tuned settings based on what you are driving over with active suspension. Torque vectoring is impressively capable. 2023 Pilot: 0-60 in 5.9 or 6.5 seconds 23MPG. 14.9 seconds 1/4mile 2023 telluride 0-60in. 7.05 or 7.5 seconds 15.8 seconds 1/4 mile Any of that help? Want any other details? Based on the 1/4 mile time the pilot accelerates significant more than telluride from a 70mph roll
Awesome review! We are expecting twins and have a 3 year old as well. Would you recommend this for 3 car seats and how easy/hard do you think it would be to get to 3rd row with two rear facing car seats in 2nd row? Thanks!
I'm wondering the same thing since I'm also expecting twins and have a 3 year old. Have you got a chance to check the pilot out yet or other cars that would work with our configuration?
First-time viewer. I was very impressed. Nice practical review, not focused on 0-60 time. I'm not the biggest Honda fan (I don't dislike them), but this is a very good redesign.
You nailed it!! No ceiling vents!! That’s what turned us away from buying another Honda!!!! You are suffocating our kids!! Go, Car Mom!!! Thanks for backing us up!! Congrats by the way!!!❤🎉😊
I have the 2022 pilot elite and I agree the backseat while they say fits 3, really only fits 2. I’m considering moving to the 2023 for this version of the 2nd row. I have captains chairs, so basically my pilot fits 6, not 7 as claimed. I thought about moving to the Odyssey for the magic seat but I don’t think I can give up AWD based on my climate.
Easy, breezy, beautiful, cover girl! 🤣 Love it!! Kelly.. if you open the sun glasses holder all the way and release it just before you close it, it will stay in place and can use the conversation mirror without holding it. 😊 Three more weeks, congratulations!
Thank you! Fast talking, gets to the point, efficient review. Did you say that there's no car seat tilt on this at the end? That would be a bummer... I had hope it would after seeing the way the seat tilted foward.
So, I thought I would add some guy point of views to your solid video. Yes, compared to other vehicles, the screen might be on the smaller size at 9 inches for todays market, but wasn't it just a few years ago 4, 5 and 6 was the norm for a decade? In the Elite model the main driver screen in front of you utilizes many features making the infotainment center a secondary piece once you get used to the controls on the steering wheel. It also has an on-screen heads up display on the windshield showing speed and navigation information and cruise control funciton. The motor which is a dedicated V-6 by Honda is an ongoing staple for Honda being very reliable, way more so than all the problems in Hyundai and Kia models. No car has all things right, but Honda checks most the boxes and reliability, safety even in roll overs and side impacts can't be beat! The fact that it doesn't utilize turbos or hybrid technology means future repair costs will be lower! If none of you have experienced failures more so with hybrids, its extremely expensive and only dealers can fix it. No local mechanic will touch them in most cases. Turbos love to wear out engines and typically prefer better fuel options to prevent carbon scor in the engine. This Honda just uses regular fuel and you'll enjoy for many, many miles of carefree safe driving. I know I use the word reliable a lot. There is a reason for that. That all together made me buy the new 2024 Honda Pilot Elite. Cheers!
Hey, simply don’t understand why does the screen need to be that big in the first place and you’re just focus on driving your vehicle down the road. Is it really that big of a deal?
Love your videos, a little disappointed that you weren’t able to show the trunk space with a stroller. Quick ? Is The second cup holder in the door big enough for a water bottle?
I accidentally have come to your channel - and really like it! For too long, I have been looking at reviews by men who would focus on vehicle performance - you do it the practical way. Just subscribed. BTW, you sound like you could be from the North East!
Just FYI, seat is removable in all trims, I know their trim details by honda say otherwise, but as a honda exl owner, I can attest ALL models seat is removable, unless it has captain seats.
I would upgrade from my 2017 Honda Pilot Elite to this one but the New Elite does not come with a Blu-Ray entertainment system for the long trips. It is a beautiful SUV though. Still thinking of getting it for myself. Probably the Touring version with the big tires.
We are on our third Honda Pilot lease and we love the car.. and looking at getting into the 2023.. But yes, needs all the features! Especially.. those ceiling vents. Come one Honda!! Even as an adult in the second row on long trips, those little counsel vents aren’t cutting it. ❌ Keep making it better! 👏🏼👏🏼

-middle beach middle seat 😍
-better cup holders 🥤
-Bird’s eye view camera is way cool!
Things I like better about my ‘22 Pilot:
-integrated screen
-center console size and ease of access
-can’t tell, but are there armrests here?
Digital rear view camera.
Add digital camera's in gauge when turning like Kia and get rid of the push button shifter and this would be my pick over the Telluride
Car reviews are helpful the amount of them I watch on many models before making my decision back in November and I love my car
Do you wish she had had the opportunity to post this 23 Pilot review sooner? What did you end up buying if you don’t mind me asking :)
@@jhcengineering 2023 Kia Sorento SX Prestige in Sapphire blue with black interior
@@paleobrownie1474 yeah I upgraded from a 2017 Toyota Highlander limited and I looked at 2022 Highlander and it was a bit meh looked at the Sorento sat in it salesman showed me everything and I knew it was the car for me
This makes me want a Honda Pilot! Love everything about it minus no ceiling vents. Thank you!
I have a 2005 Honda pilot 290,000 Miles still drives like new and kept it bought my wife a 2023 Honda Pilot she loves it it’s a fantastic SUV the best in its class V6 Naturally aspirated engine No turbo so the engine will last long till less stress on engine components for sure compared to many others with 4 cylinder turbo engines.
The screen looks perfectly fine. Nine inches is plenty.
The thing i dont like is the shifter, better to have the manual shifter, and the dash board including screen should be make better
I love the boxy style as well. Hopefully some of the others will catch on and get back to the boxy style suv so I can have more options.
Funny that the '23 Accord has a 12" touchscreen as standard on the hybrid trims.
Looks like a highlander to the front! Thanks for the tour!
I love how this suv looks. I also love the small screen. What do you need a huge screen for? You’re supposed to be looking At the road. I feel like a bigger one would just distract the driver. It’s the perfect size!
Kudos to the video editor ! Flawless transitions. Content is spot-on.
I really hope Honda gives this same styling to the Passport when they redesign it! I don’t need a 3rd row so a Passport would make more sense but I love this new Pilot!
I was thinking the same thing! Although the passport screen looks better than this actually!
I didn’t like the pilot until your review. Being able to go from bench to captain is great.
Wow I’m impressed! About to have a 3rd baby and debating if we need a different car but don’t want to necessarily go to a full size SUV. Excited to see another option! Wish my Palisade Calligraphy had this bench option!!!
I have a palisade calligraphy as well wish had bench option !
Get a minivan.
Get an Odyssey :)
This was informative and super entertaining. Absolutely love your energy!
Omg, your videos are great. I laughed out loud. I’m so glad I found this channel! Much needed in the world! ❤️
Found your page a few days ago and loving it!!
Sad they did away with the DVD system 😢😢 I have a 2019 Honda Pilot Elite and the Tv is a hit for my kiddos! Wish they would have kept it
Suddenly need kids and a pilot! You’re the best Kelly!
Thanks! Would love to see the comparison of this and the 2024 Grand Highlander. The outer dims and cargo specs would be great. The Max Hybrid version or this is what I'm looking at. Thanks
I bought a brand new 2023 Honda Pilot Sport three weeks ago. It is bigger and looks better than
previous generations. It's gas mileage is average, performance is OKish, nothing impressive. The
brake is not responsive, you have to push the brake harder to get it stopped. But, The second day,
the check engine light on. Here is the message:"Emissions system problem. Power may be reduced. See
dealer". I immediately drove it to the dealership Service Dept. But, that Service Advisor said I
did not make an appointment and has a kind of "do not care" attitude. It took me lots of efforts
and almost 5 trips, eventually, they said it a sensor issues which is in some kind of value of the
gas tank areas. They put order to replace the value and sensor. But, it has been over 15 days and no
ETA from the supplier! Plus, the driver side wiper blade simply flew away the first time I turned
it on in the heavy rain. It took three phone calls and two appointments to get the new wiper blade
installed because it need to be "ordered" also. On the left side of back window,
the bottom trim is not glued well and can easily peel off and has not fixed by the Service
Dept yet. Since 1996,I used two Honda Accord which were very reliable. and a Honda Odysessy van
which had transmission issues after 6 years. After that, I bought new Acura MDX and drove it for
over 15 years and very reliable. That is the reasons I come back to bought this 2023 Honda Pilot.
But, looks like Honda's build quality dramatically degraded. If I have choice now, I will NEVER buy
Honda cars again. First, the manufacturing quality is very bad from my experience with the brand
new Pilot, secondly, the experience with the Service dept is very bad also. Especially with the
ordering of parts, it take over 15 days , no ETA ! what's hectic ! From the Honda manufacturer to
the Service, the Honda is degrading big time.
14.9 seconds 1/4mile
2023 telluride 0-60in. 7.05 or 7.5 seconds
15.8 seconds 1/4 mile
Any of that help? Want any other details?
Based on the 1/4 mile time the pilot accelerates significant more than telluride from a 70mph roll
Awesome review! We are expecting twins and have a 3 year old as well. Would you recommend this for 3 car seats and how easy/hard do you think it would be to get to 3rd row with two rear facing car seats in 2nd row? Thanks!
Same question I have with twins on the way for 2nd row and a 2 yo and 5 yo in 3rd row.
I'm wondering the same thing since I'm also expecting twins and have a 3 year old. Have you got a chance to check the pilot out yet or other cars that would work with our configuration?
I love your videos you are the reason why I bought my Pilot before I had baby #3 in December thank you
You are everything! Your reviews are always so on point! Best wishes on your delivery.
I like it that Honda gives for this new 2023 year Pilot, severall optionts for the powertrain to the customer and not only a old NA V6 engine. Honda 👍
But I love that you can take the middle seat out in the second row!! Genius feature
My wife just bought this exact one here in Texas. #636 in US. Mineral grey Touring. Cant wait to pick it up
Easy, breezy, beautiful, cover girl! 🤣 Love it!! Kelly.. if you open the sun glasses holder all the way and release it just before you close it, it will stay in place and can use the conversation mirror without holding it. 😊 Three more weeks, congratulations!
You speak with so much enthusiasm
Are you going to do another one for 2024, or the black edition? Love your videos btw
Does this trim level have the button to power fold in the side view mirrors?
It does. This is the Elite trim.
I have a 2014 Honda pilot touring with almost the same 3rd row and fit 3 diono car seats forward facing in the 3rd row.
Great tour! I’d take a second look at this Pilot for sure.
👍🏽👍🏽
Love your videos, a little disappointed that you weren’t able to show the trunk space with a stroller. Quick ? Is The second cup holder in the door big enough for a water bottle?
Loyal Honda Pilot owner here. Currently driving a 2012 bc I HATE the remodeled version. I’m loving this new ‘23 version! 😍
I enjoy your reviews. You're hilarious and definitely say the thoughts of people
I accidentally have come to your channel - and really like it! For too long, I have been looking at reviews by men who would focus on vehicle performance - you do it the practical way. Just subscribed. BTW, you sound like you could be from the North East!
+1 for mentioning the anchors for baby seats.
Almost sold... BUT why isn't there a carseat friendly tilt?! Love all the other changes, though!
Probably the Touring version with the big tires.
the pilot driving past at 6:46 was a paid actor
YES!!! So excited for this video drop!! Its my lucky day!
Thank you for pointing out the missing rearview mirror camera. That's the only thing I need it
We are on our third Honda Pilot lease and we love the car.. and looking at getting into the 2023.. But yes, needs all the features! Especially.. those ceiling vents. Come one Honda!! Even as an adult in the second row on long trips, those little counsel vents aren’t cutting it. ❌ Keep making it better! 👏🏼👏🏼
