Thomas, thank you very much for this thorough review. Due to money limitations, I have the M33's little brother, the M10 V2, running my Tannoy legacy Eaton. Is it class D? Yes! Do I miss anything? No! And don't forget about the excellent usability thanks to BluOS integration on those NAD streaming amplifiers.

I am the proud owner of a M33, had more expensive amps in my system before this. I will stick with this for a while.

Hi! I was wondering if it’s worthy to save for the nad m33 or to get the new eversolo dmp-a8. Actually I’m interested in the best sound for streaming tidal in my stereo system. Focal Aria 948, svs sb-1000 pro, preamp/amp Pioneer c73/m73 from the 90s, class a/b. It’s true that the m33 would replace the preamp/amp as well if it sounds better. Any advice will be really appreciated. Thank you!

"solid remote controll for self-defense purposes" - great argument for the M33 :-)

I really do like the idea of getting one of these amps. Fingers crossed that I can get the ££££ together at some point. The room correct would be great with my Wharfdale Lintons on wooden floorboards .

Hi, I've now own the m33 for around two years with very intensive daily and nightly listening session, streaming and phono sources. At the beginning of the usage, coming from a/b amps i was very confused about the sound. With dirac live even worse! Now after the time i am more familiar with the for me not known before clear sound without being boring, really virtually sound stage where you can walk between the instruments , presentation of the details even in ugly radio streaming quality, the usage over all with blueOs. WAF is impressive, i was denied to replace it even for testing other amps.I did never hear so much music before as i did with this amp. what else could a really good amp do?😊I can image that many listener are still have their concerns about class d and they are right. Our ears are not trained for that in the past. I really hope Thomas will compare the Highend version of the M33, the aurender ap 20 with each other😊

The amps in the M33 are not digital, nor are class D amps necessarily digital (although some are). Purifi Eigentakt is a digitally controlled analog amplifier, hence NAD's use of the moniker "Hybrid Digital".

Excellent Audiophile review. As a Classical musician though, I'm respectfully less interested in audiophile thinking as regards "mixing and matching components to get a sound to taste" or "the sound that most impresses me", but rather the notion of Hifi as it used to be described - "the closest approach to the original sound" as once penned by Peter Walker of Quad fame.
When it comes to subjective taste, I can choose between many different instrument makers of instruments that I play, - all with different feel and sound.
By Contrast, If I choose a sound system mixed and matched at an amateur level to 'taste', then surely that misses the whole point of the HiFi which is to reproduce as accurately as possible either the original sound, or at the very least the one that the recording engineer laid down in the studio.
Just as I don't choose a car as a body in white and then shop at spare parts emporiums to add an engine, gearbox, final drive, suspension etc to taste, I've invested in fully active systems for over a decade, made and tuned by professional engineers with PhD's in their titles, and with thousands of dollars of test gear and facilities at their disposal, as a way forward from the audiophile mix and match to taste maze, as a classical musician interested in the most "HiFi" - High Fidelity - music reproduction that I can get in the home.
Having said that, if I was to contemplate a return to mix and match passive systems, the Purifi Eigentact modules in the likes of the NAD Master series would be my first port of call for an amplifier, and at any price. From a purely technical POV, they are easily one of the most technically advanced and best measuring mainstream amplifiers available currently.
And from your very well done subjective review, a highly impressive amplifier to boot on multiple levels including sound.

Hi, Thomas. Thanks for your review! How does it compare to Topping LA90 in terms of sound? Currently have Gustard R26 + LA90, and think about R26 into M23 or just M33.

While maintaining that neutral presentation, it will be more holographic, punchier, more controlled, and more refined.

@@ThomasAndStereo Thanks for your answer. It seems like it totally worth it. The speakers is KefR3 by the way. Current setup weak point is weak bass.

Great review and content. I have a M33 paired with Kef LS50 Meta and a KF92 subwoofer for 2 years already. Also got the Dirac live upgrade for a subwoofer which made a huge difference however I still would like to have a bit mkre punch and beefier sound. What would be my options to achieve this? I was thinking about bridging M23 with M33, can hear your thoughts please? Thank you

Hi Thomas, nice and compact review of the NAD M33.
    I am currently driving my Q acoustics concept 500's with a M32.
Would upgrading to a M33 make sense?
Other suggestions are welcome of course (~5-7k ballpark).

Can't we have it all? I like warm, but also like clarity with pinpoint imagining. When I've listened to products that offer the latter, I find myself ultimately not being able to sit back and enjoy the music because I'm always focusing on the imagining. When I hear something smooth and musical, I miss the clarity. Without having to take out a 2nd mortgage, is there anything that offers both?

Yes. Linn Majik DSM. And you like strawberry ice cream over chocolate and you are a chicken more than pork guy and you prefer medium to hot or mild bbq sauce. Please let me know if there is anything else subjective that we can decide for you 😉

I cannot not think that you can get a clean Purify Amp module and PSU for 799 EUR and a BlueSound streamer for 500 (or a lot of other good streamers....) and if you are buying this, you have a good DAC already. Just saying, you could DIY this for under 20% of price....

When you pay 5k you want something nice? Pretty easy answer. The environment will be fine from a few m33s 😂😂😂😂
