Wailing Fingers When was I supposed to notice it? I grew up in the '90s and the only time I ever heard ELO was listening to it in my dad's car on CD. Wasn't until I went to RUclips to hear what they sounded like live.
The Red Viper Not dissing your post or comments. You never heard them on AM/FM? Almost every music video from that time period isn't "live", I just noticed it myself. In some cases its disappointing but there weren't even digital cameras, no one had mobile phones shooting 4K at that time. They didn't try to hide the fact the video wasnt live. If you grew up in the 90's and you like ELO that much, you're in for a great time discovering generations of amazing music.
Not quite sure the occasional use of orchestral arrangements is tantamount to "bringing classical music to the masses". I think visionaries such as Stanley Kubrick and Leonard Bernstein are more deserving of that feat.

Holy Shit! My goodness, I'm completely floored by this performance. Utterly perfect and sounding 1,000,000x better than any recording I've ever heard. What a privilege this is to see and hear. That man has some pipes, people and the band was flawless.
ELO is the soundtrack to my life growing up in the 70s, being a pre-adolescent watching my older siblings and their friends dancing and rocking out in our living room. I remember being so amazed by the entire orchestra!
Sounds exactly like my childhood.. My brothers were 17 & 24 yrs older and most of my cousins 5+yrs older!! I feel so blessed to have grown up then and exposed to the GREAT music that i was.. 💜

Proper music from back in the days where music was played by musicians using musical instruments. This was the era of music I grew up to, I feel for the kids of today with the stuff they think is good. We were so lucky!!
I saw ELO at the Felt Forum in Madison Square Garden NYC around 1980 and they put on the GREATEST LIGHT show I've seen in my entire life. The Best by Far.

I used to attend around '72/'73 because it was free entertainment by great musicians. Billy Preston was not a great example of how a human being should conduct themselves in real life but what a great entertainer. He had the whole place swaying to the beat.

I just saw them in concert. Jeff Lynne still has it, which is not to be said for all rockers over the age of 40. Wow! Worth every penny and more. Wish I could go again tomorrow. Yes! I was alive in the 70's and was alive when he played in Grand Rapids, MI, and feel so fortunate to have seen them all live. PURE MAGIC!

A very happy 74th Jeffrey Lynne 30 December 1947. A few rock voices are iconic. Your's is one of the few. Born in Erdington, Birmingham England.. And a member of the world famous Traveling Wilburys. Miss George, Roy and of course Tom.
Taught my son about ELO. 20 yrs ago. On a board game he asked me what ELO stood for. When I said Electric light orchestra he flipped out. I told him this the music of my time. Haha
I'd go back to the 70s and stay. Been a Jeff & ELO since the beginning.
