Wow...what a great combination...Rosie, Jeff, the Cello babes...and Mr. 'Flatcap' guitarist all in super sync..!! Love it!! And the drummer hangs it all together!!
You're right about Jeff Lynne. One thing that I've noticed on the songs I've watched at this venue I have yet to see anyone say anything other than praise for this man and his amazing talent.
The Electric Light Orchestra (and especially Jeff Lynne) were so so ahead of their time! Classic! We'll never see or hear anything like them again. Thank you for a wonderful upload!!
ELO saw them in concert and Blue oyster cult ELO rocked the house greatest concert I seen in a long time awesome light show I went out got the CD Jeff Lynn is a awesome singer... .
I remember as a 13 year old being fascinated by this song back in about 1978, and I couldn't figure out why at the time. It was nothing like any of the rest of the music I listened to. I remember waiting next to my stereo with a blank eight track in, waiting to hear this song begin so I could hit the record button. I recorded it and listened to it over and over.
As far as I'm aware of, this was recorded on either September 9 or 10, 2001. The terror attack on September 11,2001 put an effective stop to the ELO tour. Anyway, a marvellous concert filled with amazing songs performed by one of the finest pop rock band ever!
Wow! This is top quality. Fair play to Jeff and the band. Sounds as fresh as it was when I bought it all those years ago - and on every track. Brilliant, 10/10.
You know when you get the "chills" its great music. Where is that feeling in todays music you ask , it's because it's not really from the heart. ELO rocks!!!!
People, there is some incredible talent involved here. This is the first time I've ever heard them live and it's blowing my mind that they are able to reproduce the sound that was first created in a recording studio! Incredible!!!
this guy is amazing! after all those years he could still sound so spot on. On top of that, this guy has a great supporting cast around him, everything was just so well done and executed
das war ein Riesen Hit einfach Weltklasse, ich liebe die Stimme von ELO unerreichbar. Es gab so viele große Hits von dieser Gruppe. Das waren noch geile Zeiten, da hängen noch wahre Erinnerungen dran. Danke ELO
The bridge at 2:21 is just genius. It's so smooth you don't even know it's a bridge. Maybe it's not. Whatever it is it's f*ing brilliant. ELO was one of a kind. There will never be another.
This song touches me. In high school the concert band had the sheet music for ELO's 'Livin' Thing' I have played the trumpet arrangement, that has been 30 years ago. Our band director, and some of my school/band mates have since passed away, and it's a terrible loss.
E.L.O. brings back interesting memories when I was leaving my youth and entering young adulthood. just kept me positive and accepting of change. still does...always will.
Such a wonderful dispay of human nature! Oh and the Golden Ratio playing in the back ground setting the standard of Beauty! The Divine Proportion that is in all life! Truley is a Livin thing! 'magic'
Paddled out before dawn @ Anclote. No surf, but the sunrise was spectacular! "Sailin' away on the crest of a wave, it's like magic." Indeed! This song popped into my mind.
Sailin' away on the crest of a wave, it's like magic Oh, rollin' and ridin' and slippin' and slidin', it's magic And you and your sweet desire You took me, oh (higher and higher, baby) It's a livin' thing It's a terrible thing to lose It's a givin' thing What a terrible thing to lose I'm takin' a dive Dive Makin' believe this is what you've conceived From your worst day (I'm takin' a dive) Oh, movin' in line, then you look back in time To the first day (I'm takin', I'm takin') And you and your sweet desire (don't you do it, don't you do it) You took me, oh (higher and higher, baby) It's a livin' thing It's a terrible thing to lose It's a givin' thing What a terrible thing to lose I'm takin' a dive All the same Hey Takin' a dive, 'cause you can't halt the slide Floating downstream (I'm takin' a dive) Oh, so let her go, don't start spoiling the show It's a bad dream (I'm takin', I'm takin') And you and your sweet desire (don't you do it, don't you do it) You took me, oh (higher and higher, baby) It's a livin' thing It's a terrible thing to lose It's a givin' thing What a terrible thing to lose It's a livin' thing It's a terrible thing to lose It's a givin' thing
@sockington1 You know, back in 1981 during an interview, Bev Bevan, ELO's drummer, made a remarkably good point. He was asked what he thought of this new wave of music. He stated with complete honesty, it was all 'a load of rubbish' I could not agree more with both his and your statement!
@45rpmSINGLES - Jeff Lynne wrote these songs, they are his songs, he was the ELO songwriter and vocalist. The band may have different members now, but the songs are his no matter who is playing the instruments. I was trying to say that as they had such an orchestral and multi-layered sound, their sound would be harder than most to reproduce that sound live. These days though, you can have a whole orchestra being played on a keyboard, so I was wrong to put that above.
@mariomaniac6411 It's Rosie Vela singing onstage with ELO. She used to be a model and then became a singer. She did backup vocals for some bands and was in a relationship with Jeff Lynne.
this song is ELO (even though this is not as good as original group) ..... gives me goosebumps ..... for some reason. might have something to do with the echoing. just one helluva song ..... jeff's voice is still in great shape.
Yep. my top favorites is telephone line, can't get it out of my head, & showdown. btw you said your were a fan since your were 13, 35 years ago? well you were 13 in 1977. so your 48 years old, you're 2 years younger than my dad. awesome.
@UncleJeffreySpuds One of the most under-rated for sure! That sentence is used a little bit to much about musicians these days but is, really, an understatement when you talk about this genius. Many of todays young people haven't even heard of Jeff Lynne. That's mental!!
Rosie is the most elegant back-up singer ever!
& Pretty
Gee, I wonder why.
Jeff Lynne is certainly one of the most under-rated musicians on this planet.
HUH! What solar system did you come from?
Been listening to it since 1977 . Jeff Lynne only gets better. !
There was nobody like ELO. And those original studio recordings were the very essence of perfection & "time."
Who's listening in 2019? ELO is the best!! Been listening since the 70s.
When i start listening to them, usually i'm going late to bed...
Master Jeff
@@edouardwillemin Hi Edouard, it's 4 30 am and I've no intention of going to bed yet. I get it.
@@edouardwillemin Yes so many late nights, early mornings 😊
Was listening in 1970 and will be in 4770.
Jeff lynne is a genius ,when it comes to putting musical instruments together.
The Electric Light Orchestra (and especially Jeff Lynne) were so so ahead of their time! Classic! We'll never see or hear anything like them again.
Thank you for a wonderful upload!!
If you only knew 12 years ago what you were saying...... it's 2023 and they're still touring, brilliant! :)
E.L.O. was a fine group with a unique sound of their own. Their recordings of "Evil Woman" and "Livin Thing" are just outstanding!...Good stuff!

As far as I'm aware of, this was recorded on either September 9 or 10, 2001. The terror attack on September 11,2001 put an effective stop to the ELO tour. Anyway, a marvellous concert filled with amazing songs performed by one of the finest pop rock band ever!
ROCK UNIVERSAL PARA TODOS LOS TIEMPOS. JEFF UN GENIO!!!!
Jeff Lynne has that voice that you recognize as soon as you hear it. Different yet amazing!! Love this!!
Heck those cellos are amazing... Heck everything that Jeff Lynne creates is amazing. Bless you Jeff.
Wow! This is top quality. Fair play to Jeff and the band. Sounds as fresh as it was when I bought it all those years ago - and on every track. Brilliant, 10/10.
I was 18 when I was listening to ELO love the memories 😎
You know when you get the "chills" its great music. Where is that feeling in todays music you ask , it's because it's not really from the heart. ELO rocks!!!!
ELO, Джефф Линн - это бесконечное потрясение и блаженство восприятия, все воспринимается как , истина и талант априори!!! Невозможно прекрасно!!!!!
I graduated from high school in 1975. So this was the music of my young adulthood. I loved E.L.O..
People, there is some incredible talent involved here. This is the first time I've ever heard them live and it's blowing my mind that they are able to reproduce the sound that was first created in a recording studio! Incredible!!!
A great song. It brings back some terrific memories.
ELO is a great group of musicians; Jeff Lynne is an espetacular singer; Livin' Thing is the best hit of them.
this guy is amazing! after all those years he could still sound so spot on.
On top of that, this guy has a great supporting cast around him, everything was just so well done and executed
I remember when I bought my first ELO album. Just blown away, Lynn and Bev Bevan. Excellent!
das war ein Riesen Hit einfach Weltklasse, ich liebe die Stimme von ELO unerreichbar. Es gab so viele große Hits von dieser Gruppe. Das waren noch geile Zeiten, da hängen noch wahre Erinnerungen dran. Danke ELO

This song is MAGIC. One of my all time favorites from any band! Thanks for the quality upload.

What a fantastic combination of musical instruments and the musical piece is pure art!
E.L.O. brings back interesting memories when I was leaving my youth and entering young adulthood. just kept me positive and accepting of change. still does...always will.
Jeff Lynne can still sing, good job boys and girls, thoroughly enjoyed this performance.
I started listening to ELO back when I was a child.........they are my favorite of all time band...
Such a wonderful dispay of human nature! Oh and the Golden Ratio playing in the back ground setting the standard of Beauty! The Divine Proportion that is in all life!
Truley is a Livin thing! 'magic'

Volkswagen brought me here. I'm so glad! What a song!
Anthony Turner me too😁
Electric Light Orchestra is the definition of happiness.
The epitome of the 70s and 45 years later this song is as good as it gets
Paddled out before dawn @ Anclote. No surf, but the sunrise was spectacular! "Sailin' away on the crest of a wave, it's like magic." Indeed! This song popped into my mind.
Love this song....love Jeff....I so wish he'd come tour the states..
Jeff Lynne is a genius. Lovely to see Greg Bissonette on the kit, too.
Did, do and will always will have a huge crush on Jeff Lynne. Beautiful man, beautiful music.
Saw ELO at univ of Miami in 1975---- both cellists had a red and white cello-- blew me away ...
I first heard this in the mid seventies along with all their other hits and a great live band

Fajny utwór...Dziękuję
Great Song, Great Band. I have always thought that if the Beatles had stayed together through the 70's they would have had a similar sound
I've thought that to.. Especially after listening to ELO with headphones on-
simply fantastic music and fantastic Jeff )))
Sailin' away on the crest of a wave, it's like magic
Oh, rollin' and ridin' and slippin' and slidin', it's magic
And you and your sweet desire
You took me, oh (higher and higher, baby)
It's a livin' thing
It's a terrible thing to lose
It's a givin' thing
What a terrible thing to lose
I'm takin' a dive
Dive
Makin' believe this is what you've conceived
From your worst day (I'm takin' a dive)
Oh, movin' in line, then you look back in time
To the first day (I'm takin', I'm takin')
And you and your sweet desire (don't you do it, don't you do it)
You took me, oh (higher and higher, baby)
It's a livin' thing
It's a terrible thing to lose
It's a givin' thing
What a terrible thing to lose
I'm takin' a dive
All the same
Hey
Takin' a dive, 'cause you can't halt the slide
Floating downstream (I'm takin' a dive)
Oh, so let her go, don't start spoiling the show
It's a bad dream (I'm takin', I'm takin')
And you and your sweet desire (don't you do it, don't you do it)
You took me, oh (higher and higher, baby)
It's a livin' thing
It's a terrible thing to lose
It's a givin' thing
What a terrible thing to lose
It's a livin' thing
It's a terrible thing to lose
It's a givin' thing
My first ELO-awareness on pirate station Radio Caroline!
It's M-A-A-A-A-G-I-C!!! Thx for posting.
AMO ESTA CANCIÓN!!! DESDE SIEMPRE.
Damn they sound good and this is a hard song to do live...they sound amazing esp so many years later.
@sockington1 You know, back in 1981 during an interview, Bev Bevan, ELO's drummer, made a remarkably good point. He was asked what he thought of this new wave of music. He stated with complete honesty, it was all 'a load of rubbish' I could not agree more with both his and your statement!
Qué música hizo este personaje! Hace 30 años que estaba en college y me gustaba tanto como me gusta ahora! Y con Rosie Vela en vivo me gusta más!
Bons tempos, que nunca mais voltarão.....😢😢😢😢

The cello players are really pretty.
ELO is a great band.
Very sad ELO is reduced to this. But for us true ELO heads we will continue to cling to whatever shred of ELO we can find, including this.
Pure genius!
@mariomaniac6411 It's Rosie Vela singing onstage with ELO. She used to be a model and then became a singer. She did backup vocals for some bands and was in a relationship with Jeff Lynne.
Recently, I got back into ELO. They were a GIVEN THING back in the day.
Great supportive comments, so much love, they were really magic!
haven't heard them in ages. classic. Brad.
I'm a sucker for the classics, and Jeff Lynn is super talented! Miss you all!
miss you as well.
this song is ELO (even though this is not as good as original group) ..... gives me goosebumps ..... for some reason. might have something to do with the echoing. just one helluva song ..... jeff's voice is still in great shape.

John Lennon once said if the Beatles had stayed together they would have become ELO. High honors indeed!
Such great music!!!!!
GENIUS! Abso-fucking-lutely GENIUS!
Good news: I'm going to see him live for the first time in Aug.
Bad news: It's not until Aug.!!!
@UncleJeffreySpuds One of the most under-rated for sure! That sentence is used a little bit to much about musicians these days but is, really, an understatement when you talk about this genius. Many of todays young people haven't even heard of Jeff Lynne. That's mental!!
