Okay, this is embarrassing. Was watching this, singing along, and loving it. Then, a thought ran through my head..."Man, there's a lot of old people in that audience". Well, the song ended and I got up to raid the fridge, and happened to look in a mirror. And damned if I wasn't looking old too! 67 now, was around when this first came out. Loved it then...love it now. ELO sound as new and fresh as ever. And judging from the younguns I saw in the vid, they're grabbing a whole new, younger audience, with their timeless music.
My 1st thought (out loud) when watching this was, wow, a lot of middle aged people there, my wife replied, what age do you think you are?? Oh ya I'm 61. I keep forgetting that.🤪
In the 70's, my peers stated I had a strange taste in music because I bought every album of ELO. Here it is fifty years later and I'm just as strange as I once was.
Just look at that audience. 50 yrs later! Think Jeff Lynne isn't a national treasure? Genius doesn't even begin to cover it. A true pioneer and a musical efficienado 😊 I'm so happy he toured, and we got to go see him and his band it was nothing short of glorious!! ELO 4 EVER!!

Every band sounds better live. Music was meant to be heard live because its organic, natural, with occasional flubs, real. None of that perfectionist studio nonsense tweaking every detail instrument and vocal. Give me the imperfections any day
What a crock of made-up sh-t. Of course, modern well-presented live music sounds good. But in no way does this group sound better at some concert than in their masterful studio recordings. In the studio, the sound is presented exactly as the musicians intend it, and ELO did a great job with their records. Also, this band is not even the real ELO. So get a clue, you clowns.
Those middle age and old people are the teens and young adults back in the 70's and 80's buying there records and albums and now they get to relive their youth.

At 70 still the same finesse, still the same uniquely distinctive voice, absolutely magical. We are truly privileged to have Jeff Lynne. Listening to 'Livin Thing' sounded the same as it was in 1976. True magic!! 'If only there was a LOVE button instead of like.'
Privileged indeed to grow up during this era! Some kids today feel cheated, I know my 20 year old college kid does, he's starting to grow out of today's music trend!
Very few artists have a library as deep and if such high quality as Jeff Lynne and ELO. He very well may be the single most underrated singer/songwriter/producer/arranger of the past 100 years.

She told me she could play a piece just from reading the sheet music and I challenged her by picking a music-book from the shelf and opening it at a random page. She proceeded to play it there and then and it was a fairly complicated sounding piece. She apologised afterwards for her sloppy rendition but it sounded incredible to me! I bet Jeff Lynne gave the string players charts of his arrangements and they got it together fairly quickly. What a gift to have!
The view Mr Lynne has from his stand point on stage must be heart warming to him. I can see an arena full of happy singing along fans. WOW what a buzz that must give.
If it was me I probably would have been overcome with emotions. Especially the way the crowd reacted during the song. It was electrifying. Just watching it brings tears of joy to the eyes.
When the band played as the closing act at the 2014 BBC Festival in a Day in London's Hyde Park, Jeff thought beforehand that most of the fans would have seen their favourite bands by then and gone home. It took him a while to get over the shock of walking on stage and realising that around 50,000 fans were there, eager and waiting to witness ELO's first live concert in nearly 30 years!
ELO was the soundtrack of my teens but now that I've been watching these videos, my appreciation for Jeff and the band has gone through the roof....can't get enough...
I feel very sorry for the youngsters these days l got to have my teenage years listening to this brilliant music every day along with many others thank God I'm in 60's

His live tour is every bit as good as his studio albums because he brings his studio with him. Strings, backup vocals, bass, keyboards - all normally done on separate tracks in studio are all here live! Perfection.
@@mashzmash Wrong! Jeff Lynne absolutely refuses to use back tracks in the mix when performing live. I've seen them perform and they play 100% live absolutely no mixing with backtrack included during their concerts.

His live tour is every bit as good as his studio albums because he brings his studio with him. Strings, backup vocals, bass, keyboards - all normally done on separate tracks in studio are all here live! Perfection.
Absolutely! Getting this close to the original mix is also the magic of post-production re-mixing and fixing mistakes after the fact in the studio.
Correct. Most of the orchestral parts you're hearing are not being played there live.
@@mashzmash Wrong! Jeff Lynne absolutely refuses to use back tracks in the mix when performing live. I've seen them perform and they play 100% live absolutely no mixing with backtrack included during their concerts.

The most underrated musician of all time. Jeff was a writer and he can still perform today. Even better he finds the Langley sisters and puts Rosie out front. Those women and incredible. I am a big fan of ELO. I grew up with this music.
Jeff Lynne is hardly underrated. He's considered a musical genius, by his peers and fans alike.

I'm 71 and I still love his music love all of them especially Rock and Roll Is King and Mr Blue Sky and I still have a those fabulous record albums.
I wish I had been alive when they came on the scene. Look at those folk in the audience...so HAPPY! I'm 40, so missed it but still grew up listening to it
