    When someone explained his name to me i was blown away:
    Whats the opposite of a liquid stranger?
    A solid friend.

      That just blew my mind 🤯 I had assumed the liquid part was referencing liquid dance that was popular in the rave scene back in the day, and the stranger part was because he originally intended to be anonymous, but your explanation makes more sense

    My first Liquid Stranger experience was at a Shambhala in the Village stage.
    My day started by getting stung in the leg by a ground wasp earlier in the morning. Med tent told me to prop it and stay off my leg. So I went and chilled in a chair at my favorite stage.
    after a very late night and I'm about to hobbel off to bed Liquid comes on for a massive long sun rise set. His sound had me hooked from the first beat. I couldn't help but get up and wiggle and get weird. Best Shambhala memory ever!!!

    Definitely top 3 of my favorite producers of all time. It broke my heart last yr at Shambhala, about 50 minutes into his set at the Pagoda, the acid turned on me 😭
    But I will be redeemed!!!! He's playing again this yr. I've been following him since around 2010 I believe, once X signed him to Rottun. Listened to his Mechanoid meltdown and Bionic beatdown mix literally for a yr straight. Then he did his ambient stuff for a while which kinda threw me off but then I heard The Gorgon and Wings Of Waves remix and we'll, he never fails to deliver.
    Thank you for doing a mini doc on him 🙏

    wow this is amazing!!! Martin has been one of my biggest inspirations since I started making music after discovering psychedelic bass music when I had only heard dubstep and house before, it is especially inspiring to know he had been at it for so long before the trees of his labours beared any fruits. This resonates as someone who has been producing for (only) five years going on six but in todays day and age and my kinda uh generation I guess because it has felt a bit discouraging at times as time goes on and I inevitably observed so many people kinda my age and younger proceed to blow up in what I (think) was a shorter frame of time. (not to make this about me but) Anyways thanks for making these videos man, very interesting watch!!

    As far as that dirty mechanical sounding dubstep from the early 2010s goes... NOBODY could touch him imo,(Excision, Space Laces, Downlink, Datsik ect.) His sound always hit different to me, it was so mechanical yet so human and organic sounding somehow. His stuff on Rottun will always be my favorite dubstep hands down.

    Ayyyy!! I spotted the venue I work at and have been raving at for years in the beginning of the video (9PM Music Venue). FUN FACT: someone snuck into one of Liquid Stranger’s first shows in Houston which was at our venue through the roof and fell into one of the restrooms, due to the show being sold out. He of course was caught, but my boss at the time was like, “If he really wants to be here this bad, he can stay!” lol 😂.
    He just came and played at our venue recently and sold out again. He always throws down and represents! It’s so cool to see through this video how long he’s been producing and apart of rave/electronic music culture! 11 years old at an acid house rave in 1989 had to have been bad ass!!

      That's so wild 😂 At least your boss was cool about it

    • @ecstasy92
      @ecstasy92 3 месяца назад

      @@audioeats he’s one cool mf. When things were more underground, he’d sell out his own parties and raves and then we’d do an event for the next day or next two days with headlining acts every weekend at one point. So each day, we’d have like 1500 people (felt like more at times and probably was) a night raving (sold out), or at least 600-900 minimum in the room at any given moment. Those days were so much fun man. And the best part was, for his underground parties, they’d all be like 5 room parties with different stages in every room for different genres, and then he’d use the mainstage of course for the best of the best djs of the night. It was the closest thing to a 90s rave anyone had been to in a long time, old heads would say a lot. This all took place 2017-2020 I’d say. Maybe extend the dates into 2021 until the buzz started wearing down a little, and extend the years back even more for the origin story behind my boss throwing parties and making a name for himself hahahaha. Good times and I wouldn’t exchange those memories made for a single thing.
      He also at one point had this raver meetup called “ShareSpace” he’d throw every Monday at this indoor/outdoor bar with a stage outside that had a sandbar. There’d be 500+ ravers in attendance every MONDAY NIGHT!!! Best part about that event was it was free, and he would host an open decks stage in the indoor section of the bar to allow new talent to emerge. Producers would also meet in the back and produce/learn with/from one another. We had kandi stations/tables to make kandi, etc… Damn I miss it…
