- In this video, we explore the hidden dynamics, power structures, and sensory experiences that make the EDM and techno dance scenes so unique and transformative. From understanding the role of DJs as modern-day shamans to examining the concept of liminality and multi-sensory stimulation, this video covers it all.
Originally, this content started as a piece of scientific research. However I wanted to make these complex ideas more accessible and engaging, so I re-purposed it into this RUclips video. If you're passionate about electronic dance music, techno culture, and the vibrant nightlife scene, you're in the right place!

this needs more views! high quality and quite the intellectual depth
Thank you! It means a lot.
ultimately the crowd holds the power and they give it that power to the dj. The dj will submit to the crowd's needs or that power will be taken back from the dj. It's more of a collaboration thing and it goes both directions.
Nothing like melting into you amongst others, then finding all of the dancefloor being a mixed pot of people and feelings
Thrilling to know that it resonates!
Been to Boris Brejcha few days ago in Croatia and this is honestly good ass timing. :D
Shout-out to Cocaine Cowboys Crew! Brejcha's stages are uniquely shamanic, indeed.
Hey man - I write this because I see you read the comments. This isn't good enough - you need more footnotes, and some things are very muddled and need to be clearer. For example - what's the methodological reasoning to distinguishing between a DJ and any performer? As someone in a similar field - I hope to see good things from you! The topics are interesting and editing really good!
Thanks so much for your detailed feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to point out where I can improve. I'll definitely work on adding more clarity.
Regarding the methodology, just to provide you with an answer, this video is based on a paper I wrote one year ago, which is part of my master's thesis on Dub Techno. You can read it online to get an idea about the methodology if you're interested further. The distinction is clearly made in the main text.
I care for critics. Your feedback means a lot.
Hats off to you!
🎉
It's not that deep.
Well, maybe you're right! Who knows 😊
