This was an absolute fantastic sxs review and I'm so excited about this channel and all the atv and sxs reviews to come. So much better than the DT reviews where they just quote book specs and drive, ride like lunatics and only air a 10 minute segment. You are going to be a busy guy reviewing autos and recreation vehicles. TFL has done very well getting you on board. I loved the fly swatting scene at the end, great touch. What a laugh!
Outstanding review. Dare I say the best I've ever seen in The Fast Lane. Agree that the camo paint job is expensive. The only reason I'd opt for it is when the machine gets scratched, the camo paint isn't going to look as bad as some shiny clear coat paint job. Thanks again for a GREAT review!
Very good job on the first review. I can't wait for more. Although I will have to get use to you being in Canada. Took me till the end of the video to figure out why you where sweating in 30 degree weather lol.
Everyone has their own likes. That's why we have different brands of just about anything. My son has a Yamaha rhino that has been a great machine. Brake job is the only thing a wrench has touched. It's 5 years old and really used on the farm and pleasure. I just bought my first side by side about a year ago. It's a can am 800 XT defender. Absolutely love it. No issues so far. I think all the name brands make good units. Treatment and maintenance are the key.
Hi Just watched your Honda Pioneer 1000 vid and now this one. I'm impressed(no, super impressed). Excellent communication skills, a tad of humour and a stack of information. Great work. We, in Australia are currently have in a few issues with the heat. Too hot and to much of it(a few days of around 43-45c) so it's nice to be inside watching your fantastic videos. You keep em coming like these and I keep watchin' em! Thankyou
Spent 2 hours at the dealer and the salesmen didn't know squat about what he was selling. He was pushing the Can am. Awesome video, you convinced me on the Polaris, thanks
@@ve3xtr I am referring to your experience with Polaris. Have you own a Polaris? Just looking for advice on people who have experiences with Polaris. Thank you.
The blue light for the light switch is always on in the side by side because when u start it up in the dark you don't have to search for the light switch you know where it's at right away with the little blue light 👍
It would help you find your switch when the lights are off. I think it’s weird to have an illuminated switch that shows when lights are on only. The lights tell you they are on why does the switch light up. It should be lit when they are off so you can get to it in the dark
Finding the lights at night is definitely why it never turns off. I was staring at it in the sunlight and it made no sense to me at the time. But I wasn't thinking big picture. The sun was baking my brain obviously! Thanks for watching - Stephen
The switch for headlights on my Jeep are not illuminated. I've never had a problem find that switch that I can think of. So, I might also consider it weird.
wolfpackflt670 possibly because the switch is used on other polaris vehicles along with other lighted switches. Same switch is used on the general and the rzr. Gedneral has turf mode switch and hl switch in a common location.
Never owned a side by side, but if assume the light switch has a light on it even when the lights are off so that you can see the switch if you hop in to drive somewhere when it's dark out. Just a little "convenience" feature.
Please review a Can Am Defender 800 or 1000, all other reviews suck. You would nail it. You might be responsible for increasing the sales of whatever product you review, unless you hated it.
Nice review but as far as the weird if you have ever tried to find a light switch in the dark you'd be thankful for that little light , maybe should be different color or dimmer but none the less makes it easy to find in the pitch dark
Yup, I totally recognize that now. Seems obvious! But it was a hot day, my brain was baked and could only think about sunshine. Thanks for watching and the comment! - Stephen
Great review and nicely edited! Way more info than the other guys (DirtTrax) provide and with no bias based on sponsorship - LOL. The bug segment at the end cracked me up. You've earned my sub. Polaris seems to have thought of everything (other than the rattling tailgate). I'd love to see how the Honda Pioneer 1000 compares to this machine.
I am very late to comment but I've had both the 900 and 1000 and i have to say everything is an improvement, except the wiper which is only on and off. 900 had a 2 speed. and the fun colors of the 900. this upscale 1000 is to good for orange madness...
Great vid👍my friend got old model, I wondered if difference in fuel usage between old new? But new model has better towing n payload. LOL $30,000 for HACS you can buy second hand truck for that price in Australia.
Jamie Shields The truck arguement doesn't hold up though, these can do things that trucks can't and vice versa. I'm not taking my truck up powerlines during hunt season, too large, too heavy, and too easy to break. These also make sense for certain work crews who have to get to remote areas like hydro crews, fire marshals, fish and game etc.
9:00 thats what happened to me with my 2016 ranger, I had to get an entire new trailer! Save yourself money, and if it does happen, you can always trade in your enclosed for a generously sized open trailer.
You should contact John Deere about their side by sides the RSX 860I is a beast that might just put a shame in the Ranger 1000. The John Deere was designed to still be work and Play. We need a address to send you some deep woods off. Also the XUV 835R is a Direct competitor but also offers power lift cargo box.

Great review! Anyone at TFL have a motorcycle license? Would be cool to see some motorcycle reviews if you could get them from the manufacturers. Seems like you already have a relationship with Polaris so that should help you get your hands on some Indian bikes and a Slingshot (even though it’s not a bike). Honda has plenty of bikes too and didn’t they give you an ATV for testing not long ago?
Bobcat utility vehicle is interesting it would be cool to see a review if possible. It tows 4000lbs on a UTV! it’s crazy but I have no idea anything more about it really
Hi, great reviews. I understand that the machine is a work horse and can be pretty nice on trail riding but, you never talk about reliability. What about the clutch issue, hard shifting thing, multiple recall , the so many stories from 0eople that pass more time in dealership than trail Riding ? Do we need to worry about those or it juste some isolated issues. I try to decide if I pull the trigger on the 2019 1000xp or a Yamaha x2 2019 for same price.
Nice video I do like the side by side and the hauling it can do . Speed is not really a factor for me . 60k on a bush trail is a lot different that a hi-way or country road
Good review...I would encourage you to review the specs for the Defender XT10 again and try one out for a while for comparison if the opportunity presents itself. The payload is the same with the XP1000 having a higher towing capacity (2,500lbs. vs. 2,000lbs.), but Can-Am increased the XT10 towing capacity to 2,500lbs. for 2019 so that's now a wash also. Now the biggest difference between the two is horsepower with the XP1000 having 82hp and the XT10 having 72hp. I have owned both and enjoyed both, but now only have the Defender. Personally, I pushed both machines hard and didn't really notice a difference concerning horsepower. I found them to be extremely comparable machines for both work and play. These manufacturers, especially Polaris and Can-Am, are constantly pushing one another in the off-road market which is good for consumers. I've notice it comes down to brand loyalty and when you decided to make a purchase. Because if one changes any performance aspect of their machine you can be sure the other will change within the next year.
I would very much like to test the Defender. Looks solid. We'll have some Can-Am content up soon, although it won't be a Defender review just yet. Working on it though! Thanks for the comment.

@@billythekid7237 I have a Honda Pioneer and a Polaris RZR currently. I have owned many Honda's and several Polaris ATV's in the past. I rarely have any issues with any Honda that I have owned. The polaris Vehicles always seem to be developing some type of fluid leaks. Belts getting wet. Electrical issues. Always some kind of problem with the Polaris. The reason I keep the Polaris is because of the ride quality and performance. I have the Honda for reliability. I keep a tool box with tools and spare parts on the Polaris when I ride WV hatfield trails. I don't need any of that on the Pioneer.
