Next week marks half way of this mini series ❤ I hope you have enjoyed it so far. For those missing the mystery moulds, they will be back very soon!
This series was just a way to clean out some moulds, create some videos whilst I am still getting settled into my new studio, and to just have some fun with a different content style.
I love reading your comments! This is so exciting for me as I feel like you are all helping me with the ideas and inspirations for when I create these pieces. I’m going to be randomly selecting moulds as normal but the ones from this series will be thrown around the place to keep it a surprise still ❤
I hope you are all having a lovely week ❤

@Shelby Sherritt Forst of all, I discovered you about a month ago and your videos have really been just wonderful as Ive had some major health issues that stemmed from strep throat, I'm back in the hospital and your content is just so chill, its keeping me sane lol. I love the smash or pass videos, and you, your vibe is just contagious, you are so sweet, and seem to be an eternal optimist, which is an amazing quality to have, I love how much you love your art, and really break down all that goes into work from the artist's perspective. I also love creating and have been taking the little bits of advice you give to heart❤
I was really sad the little crate was a smash, lol.. I feel that you could really lean into the crash bandicoot asthetic and make red tnt boxes or the green nitro, etc. And do the match stick idea or just use them/ sell them as trinket boxes, succulent pots, or just little nostalgia decor for the crash fans like you and I lol, either way, this video was great, and so are you! Thanks Shelby❤

Your last plaster mold has got some Australian history with it.....back in WWI/WWII Aussie soldiers would graffiti that little dude calling it "Foo" and it eventually became the cartoon associated with "kilroy was here" by lots of Allied solders in WWII. So it's a very cool WWII-era historical character mold you got there. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilroy_was_here

      Here's the link! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilroy_was_here
The leading theory is that it was started by a shipyard inspector, marking which pieces had been inspected already. The servicemen would then see this signature in bizarre and impossible places, and came up with the myth of Kilroy, the soldier who had always somehow gotten there first and left by the time any other troops had arrived.

I think the little box could have some really cool different things since it's a box and mostly I see round vases, cups, etc. With the box you could do a set where they're meant to sit right next to each other (touching) and the design continues across. Especially if the design was something attached on that could really meet up at the edges...like the little rainbows from one of the past videos, half a rainbow on one and half on the other.

So the two bears and the Rocking-horse are meant to be joined together to make the rocking horse stand up straight. The part where the bear is riding RH i don’t think set enough so I was floppy and became odd to put together. It was probably a popular mould back in the mid-late 80s early 90’s

That’s exactly what I was thinking.
My MIL has some ceramic wall hanging decorations that are hollow in the back like that, but from the front look like they’d be solid.
It took me seeing that mold to realize that ceramic wall hangings really aren’t very common these days. Especially ones that aren’t perfectly square or rectangle (and usually the ones that are made to look like ceramic are actually resin or some other plastic.)

Your idea to use the little crate box as a match holder reminds me of the cartoon character Wile E. Coyote. He always had crates from “ACME” with bombs, rockets, anvils, dynamite, etc. that he used to try and catch the Roadrunner. The crate mould could be adorable painted with ACME Matches or something similar!

It would be an adorable succulent pot, pencil or brush holder, desk caddy, kitchen catch all, base for a statue, stand for a figure, garden accent, so many uses. If you a painted your floral or ferns it would make a potted plant decoration, smoothed it would be a blank canvas for any design, attaching some of the mini pieces it would become whimsical. I feel like the crate might be worth keeping just because the mold is so small, but I suppose if you really wanted a box-crate mold again it wouldn't be that hard to find. I really like this series because there are just so many molds that it's just not reasonable to actually have a full video for each of them, and when the shape is really niche and super not your style it's just too much stress to try to make it your own!

So to answer your question on the rocking horse with the two bears, the one with the bear on the horse, you have to have a wooden dowel or "sticks" for between the feet so then when you connect the feet with the other bear it helps hold the piece up and gives it more stability.

  • @DevilsEyes100
    @DevilsEyes100 Год назад

I loved the little bear duo with the rocking horse. You had it right when you tried to put the two pieces together, just the bar at the bottom was not long enough to connect both sides well, because it looks like the two sides have a middle to make the legs far enough apart to let the piece stand. The wood crate was awesome and it reminded me of Crash Bandicoot too, I loved to play that game back in the early 2000s. The leprechaun was odd in my opinion, the hollow head made him kind of creepy to me and I love horror... But the little shelf buddy head was so fun, it reminded me a bit of my childhood in the 1980s, especially of the series "Barbapapa", which was popular in Germany back then. I'd probably do multiple colors of them with some shorter and some longer noses, just so they are a little different each time.

In the 80s it was very common to give little ceramic figurines of animals or children on rocking horses as baby shower or first birthday gifts.
I had one of a little girl with blonde braids in a pink cowboy hat riding a rocking horse. Of course my brother had a matching one of a boy in a blue hat.
A lot of my cousins and friends had various rocking horse figurines in their rooms growing up.
They were one of those things that were actually gifts for the parents, but the kids were expected to keep it in their room until they were either a teen or until they moved out, lol. (My mom made me keep mine until I moved out).

The Wikipedia article on “Kilroy was here” (the American name for this guy. Often just called Kilroy. The phrase existed separate of the drawing, then during WWII they merged) mentions Chad.
      It says:
“Mr Chad" or just "Chad" was the version that became popular in the United Kingdom. The character of Chad may have been derived from a British cartoonist in 1938, possibly pre-dating "Kilroy was here". According to Dave Wilton, "Some time during the war, Chad and Kilroy met, and in the spirit of Allied unity merged, with the British drawing appearing over the American phrase." “
I thought that was kind of lovely.
Also, I totally drew this on my notebooks in the 90s.

The little man with the big nose is a graffiti drawing from WW2. American soldiers would leave Mr. Kilroy's picture in towns and villages to show they came through. Or they draw him under chairs or tables in peace time. So if the town fell/walked into enemy hands. They would wonder when it was put there. Mind games at their finest. 😂

So the shelf sitter is called a Kilroy (or known as Mr. Chad in Australia and Britain). It dates back to WWII. James Kilroy was a steel work inspector for warships and tanks and after being accused of not inspecting the crews work he made it really clear he had and would write "Kilroy was here" on the top of every tank and it was marked with the little man peeking over a wall. It became so recognized during the war that soldiers would sketch it everywhere (it became a symbol in prison camps). If I remember correctly there was actually a contest in a magazine to find the real Kilroy and the prize was a trolley car.

I love the first one! the little crate. You could do a side flat like if it was a label and draw you lovely characters there. if it's for matches or pencils or brushes, just make a little character and write FIRE or PAINT. Dunno, I think it would be adorable with your art.

I have a little rocking horse coin bank, I’m a bit disappointed that the rocking horse mold didn’t work out well enough for us to see how it would’ve looked if it was put together, it’s sad when a mold is damaged. I agree with the others that say that the crate could be used to attach little 3D birds butterflies bees and flowers for a decorative holder or plant pot, not entirely sure if it was big enough for that purpose though.

So after a brief bit of research, Foo was used by the Aussies in WW1, the British had it in 1938 as Chad in a comic strip and the Americans developed, either by themselves or by seeing others use it, it in WW2 as Kilroy. The Aussies had it 25 yrs before the USA.

In the UK the nose piece is called a 'what no'. He is like the nosy neighbour who looks over the fence and goes 'what no... flowers yet' or something similar. It's always looking over something, like the edge of a page, like it's watching for some juicy gossip or what 'it' doesn't have.

The Rocking Horse instructions mean leave the main bit still in the mold, before you attach the other half, there are no bits missing, it just needs to be attached together before you unmold the part that hadn't set enough. I think you should try it again.

Four leaf clovers were made up, the shamrock is supposed to be a three leaf clover and that's the real symbol they use in Ireland for St Paddys. So you've got a much more traditional decor item than most that are made currently.

Fun fact, white clover growing 4+ leaves is dependent on the soil conditions so if you uproot a four leaf clover and pot it then it will sprout more three leaf clover, not four.

I think the little bos would be nice with the gnome sitting on it. The leprechaun has a bunch of shamrock in its hand. Shamrock is the traditional symbol for Saint Patrick’s day as Saint Patrick used the shamrock to explain the holy trinity when converting Irish pagans to Christianity. A four leaf clover is for luck but the shamrock is the actual flower used in Ireland
