    Ron Finch, Stan Mouse, Big Daddy Roth ... Bob Ross ... I went to art college after Vietnam ... I was a bump and paint man in the early 60's....Love your stuff.
    and of course Dan Struzan (Star Wars) ... still doing gold leaf on glass ... sadly pin striping has dropped off the planet... flew back to the USA (I moved to Australia in 79') with my Australian Wife, drove to the MACK Brush co in Michigan ... spent way too much on new gear ... LOL ... You were spot on..."take that extra time to make it better" ... never were words more true!
    You seem to be having fun... enjoy your life mate.

    Thank you Max, your enthusiasm is infectious and the morale support sure goes a long way. I've got my paints out tonight for the first time in a while, all thanks to getting inspired again by your good self. Appreciate it sir, wish you well.

    Loved it! I think a lot of artists have trouble with confidence but as an art lover, I can tell you how annoying it is to look at an amazing piece and have the artist talk trash about it and themselves.

    Mr. Killbourne, good afternoon. I am of Caribbean nationality and will say that I love your sign-painting videos. Plus the abundance of information your share with us John Public especially the ones who care about this ageless artwork and its nuances too. This segment has resonated with me in that I am enthusiastic about practicing what I am seeing you do. Valuable content about this field is needed because AI can't do what you're doing. I appreciate you and your mission to give from your experience what it takes to be an excellent sign painter. Kudos and keep churning out the gold nuggets of wisdom that is appreciated and practiced.

    Hi Max!
    I am a geriatric disabled/retired ish woman who was facing a pretty bleak survival. I have a supportive ex hub and other family but none I can dependently lean on after one catastrophe if you know what I mean. Today, I put out a prayer asking for inspiration and direction. I immediately remembered how much I loved being an apprentice sign and mural painter 40 years ago before vinyl. I was 23 in 83 and had just finished a one year voc-tech course on basic graphic art skills and technical experience. The apprenticeship was really cool, I lived on the Green River in Kent, WA and rode my bike to and from work a few miles round trip erry day. I'd get there at 9 and my boss/teacher, Tony, sent me to the liquor store first thing lol. It was a sweet country house on the river with acreage and orchards and kennels full of gorgeous Burmese mountain dogs. I painted several jobs every day for 2 years.
    I digress and digress ...
    I've always wanted to get back into sign painting. I still have my 40 year old brushes!!
    I cannot wait to follow your advice and and practice using the techniques you described. Your videos are getting watched and listened to for a few hours per week.
    I can see myself surviving and thriving by getting back to my roots.

    Max I love your videos and recently subscribed. I noticed there hasn’t been an upload in a bit. I hope you are ok. Also I hope you didn’t quit making videos as I only recently found you and feel I could learn so much from you. I love your delivery and the experience you bring to the table. I’m a lifetime illustrator but I’m trying to become a sign painter and brushes were never my tool. All the guys I’ve found on RUclips are awesome. With great respect I say you’re all older and I mean that in that you’ve been in the business or doing this for a longtime and as a beginner of sorts I appreciate your desire to share what you know with a new generation.
    Be well. Make more videos. I promise I will watch them with great appreciation.

    Wonderful content! I'm going to take you up on your offer of asking a question, albeit a very basic one.
    How on earth do you avoid smudging the lines you have just painted when you appear to drag your finger through the paint laying the next line down? I've been watching your videos and trying to work out if your fingers are actually touching the surface, or just hovering above? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

    • @maxkilbourne3142
      @maxkilbourne3142  3 года назад +3

      The answer to your question is: I am touching them! For these videos, I paint one color, and let it dry for a day or more, set up my camera, and paint the next color! When I am doing something that doesn't afford me time, the whole thing looks a lot different!
