I graduated back in January a few months before corona hit. I actually feel really bad for the new recruits because of all this shit happening. What kept me motivated in bmt was knowing my dad would be able to see me graduate. Graduation is something I will remember for my whole life , and these new recruits will never get to experience that. Good luck to anyone going to bmt. It’s really not hard at all I was scared to death when I was headed to lackland to start training. I was literally shaking I was so scared. You get used to everything very quickly. I’m Security Forces I’m stationed at FE Warren in Cheyenne Wyoming at a nuclear missile base. If anyone has any questions just ask me. I’d be more then happy to help.

@@zevai9235 hey bud, im also in security forces. Finished school and everything and now im in Japan, at Kadena AFB. Theres really no telling in where you'll be stationed after tech school. They really just put bodies where they need them. But! Make sure to fill out your dream sheet! I put Japan in my dream sheet and i got it! Theres always that little bit of hope of getting a good base. Security forces are basically everywhere around the world. When you're in bmt, there is a little guide folder that shows where each job can be stationed. You can definitely look at that! And good luck future Airman! Aim high! ✈
@zevai you won’t know where you are going until u get into tech school. In tech school you will fill out a dream sheet with 8 U.S. bases and 8 overseas. Hopefully you will get lucky enough to actually get one of your bases on your dream sheet.

Finished BMT 10/14/21 now I’m sitting at my tech school at Ft Sam Houston. It really wasn’t too bad. If you’re thinking about joining just jump!! It’s been worth it so far. Tech school is way more flexible.
I graduated 3 Sep 92, we had BDU camo uniforms with aircrew-style patches w/printed "name, rank abbreviation, USAF & occupational 3 level badge" after tech school. The AF hated removal of large arm stripes on combat BDU unif. So they kept the velcro patch & gradually added sewn chevrons back to both arms, since without those, its was far too difficult to determine an officer from an airman, unless standing nose to nose to read the patches. With the big chevrons on BDU sleeves, everyone could see them from behind, from the side & a distance front of a USAF member & can see from a distance & salute if needed. They kept the 1 velcro patch & sewn on sleeve stripes for a while, eventually dropping the velcro patch w/name/rank/USAF all abbreviated...& returned to sewing on US Air Force & name tapes. This lasted aprox 1992-1994. Sewing everything on ABU unif was great & practical too. From an identification perspective, OCPs are "terrible". From a few feet in front of a member, I can't determine a major from a TSgt, both are blobs of cayan Red stitching. They'll soon realize this AF-wide complaint in a few yrs & likely allow adding large velcro chevrons to empty area on arm/shoulder. (Now chevron size is like painting your rank on your fingernails, that's how freakin tiny the stiched chevrons are!!)
I completely understand and agree! It is extremely hard to tell the difference between an officer and an enlisted unless u are legit right in front of them!
@@AirmanNick DOD may want to look uniform, but if so, all branches would complain (even Navy/MC as they wear 2 collar devices on L & R. The sternum is far too low on uniform. Let's press the suggestion at suggestion b o cos, but we're not asking for an overhaul!. This can be simply fixed with arm velcro chevrons of the same color as name tapes! ✈🛩🛫

Went to bmt march 2020 same principles applied, but didnt start wear masks till the 5th wk and 3 people from my flight didnt make it two medical, and one just didnt want be in AF had a attitude with MTI's.

You will have a notebook there u could rip paper out of if you would like that’s what I did most the time but I did end up having people send me paper to use so it’s honestly up to you if u don’t bring any you would have some.

SO, they've sworn 4 yrs svs to the USAF; therefore they're due an ultimate bare minimum of 7-10 seconds mask modification for facial identification as they march off graduation parade grounds, passing directly in front of the stationary video camera capturing each Airman marching past, Element by Element. There's NO RISK in permitting mask modification to the chin, for 7-10 seconds as they march passed the closeup camera during those 10 paces while exiting the parade ground, then immediately "re-don" (pull up) their mask after passing the unmanned stationary video camera. Let's give the new Airmen a simple "5-10 seconds" to march by the recording camera in "Open Ranks" SPACE in effect! It's simple & off the official ceremony view. They're giving the nation **4 to 6 years of service** (20 Yrs for some!). Darn, we owe families a glimpse of their new, sharp, Air Force faces marching at attention (vs looking like identical Taliban terrorists!) Seeing their son/daughter may boost parental pride & increase enlistments among families, simply by seeing their child identified after ceremony! Honestly I did not prepare myself anywhere enough or like the guys in my flight, I made sure I had what it took to pass all the PT graduation requirements then felt like I was good to go. I ran 2 miles a day for the most part around my neighborhood to get ready! If you have a year and start running and working out now you will be more than fine.

Hey airmen nick so I gotta question about the quarantine process so you said it’s 2 week process but it’s going be a 7 week training sooo does that mean all together ima be at bmt for 9 weeks?
They get removed from the flight and put into quarantine and ur flight either gets tested for Covid or they all get quarantined themselves just like the tested pos person. Which more than likely will hold you guys there longer and delay your graduation.
This is all disappointing. I go to MEPS next week. Random question: can we bring/buy washcloths, or do you just have to soap up with your hands and shower gel?

I was that first graduation that got affected by covid haha 2 days before our grad day got told we were getting everything taken away and no seeing family, safe to say everyone in my flight did not care at all from the point forward 😂😂

There are certain jobs in a higher demand than other jobs, during this pandemic they could be only accepting certain jobs but that won’t last to long. Not sure if that’s true anymore it was at a time though.

My sister is going to af basic soon I always like to joke and say the air force is doing the bmt online during the pandemic. But respect to you guys you guys give us the air support we need when we need it. I wish we can eat lobster and the food you guys get The army gives us mres and crap food lol. Also can you wear your own running shoes that you bring or do you need to wear the ones they issue you?
LQ you can wear your own if you bring a pair that’s what I did.

We weren’t, only allowed us to use our phones when we received a phone call home.

7 weeks total , you will still be training during your quarantine process at least we were. Just will be separated from other flights.

Honestly it all depends on the pandemic situation but for us we did not come home until after tech school is probably a similar situation for you.
What about marching? How do they do marching with the social distance stuff? Just greater spacing between each trainee?

Say someone in the new flight tested pos, what happens to them and what happens to the rest of their flight?
They get removed from the flight and put into quarantine and ur flight either gets tested for Covid or they all get quarantined themselves just like the tested pos person. Which more than likely will hold you guys there longer and delay your graduation.

I was that first graduation that got affected by covid haha 2 days before our grad day got told we were getting everything taken away and no seeing family, safe to say everyone in my flight did not care at all from the point forward 😂😂

On weekends they are currently allowing us to leave for a certain amount of times many other bases aren’t allowing it tho.

Yes and ended up not needing like 1 or 2 pairs, but it worked out because I was able to bring it to tech school with me!

What did the other recruit get kicked out for?
One failed the urine test and got removed and one got washed back, for talking back to the instructors, he later on passed but in a different flight.

There are certain jobs in a higher demand than other jobs, during this pandemic they could be only accepting certain jobs but that won’t last to long. Not sure if that’s true anymore it was at a time though.

Yes that’s how they are doing it right now, I had to use an app originally to send pics of my files when I was enlisting.

Usually Yes, But not 100% right now because of this pandemic. If they allow you to leave base you can meet them outside the base.
