  • The story of the golden calf in Exodus 32 is a common "Sunday School" story that is told to children around the world. However, the theological undercurrent to the story and how it relates to the ongoing spiritual battle between Yahweh and pagan gods is often not discussed.

    Iirc, Jeroboam actually wouldn’t be considered “of the house of David,” because he was the King of Israel immediately after the split between Judah and Israel. The Jewish kings are the line of David, Israel actually rejects their Davidic heritage when they split saying “What inheritance have we in the house of David?” Or something like that.
