    People seem to forget that a Corvette is the same size as a Porsche 911. It was hard for me to believe as well, but the general proportions of the corvette make it look much larger than it actually is

    • @GlassTopRX7

      GlassTopRX7 It's actually narrower than a 991 turbo and just barely wider than the normal Carrera. Only a couple of inches shorter as well. It's the proportions of the Porsche that make it look smaller

    The Grand Sport is the one I'd have. The Z06 loses something for me with forced induction and the power levels getting toward "bonkers". But I love the handling side of it, and getting a great normally aspirated V8 in a sublime chassis with all the aero, suspension, and brakes is just awesome. If I can convince wifey to let me bring home a 'vette, this will be the one.

    You can unhook the steering from drive modes. I run it in sport handling all the time. on the track and in tight parking lots, it is perfect.

    Good review. Bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it’s a great car! Huge power, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to smooth ride in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Corvette Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX. Bought my Grand Sport instead of a Porsche Cayman GTS. Buy a Corvette , if at all possible, life is short.

    • @GlassTopRX7
      @GlassTopRX7 7 лет назад

      Close, but the term came from stuffing a big engines into a mid sized car. While debatable the 64' GTO is consider the first true Muscle car with it's 389 motor in the relatively light tempest body. Later the term encompassed all V8 mid sized cars from the 60's and 70's. Today it basically means a midsize or larger car typically American and typically with a V8.
      Corvette isn't and never will be a muscle car. Now the Camaro and Mustang have grown into mid sized car albeit with a 2+2 interior so they are more muscle car and not really the pony cars they use to be.

    @dreray4077 6 лет назад +6

    6:42...He says that older Corvettes were no match for anything in germany?.....And this guy reviews cars for a living? Lets take a look, The last gen C6 was faster round a track and acceleration then a Carrera S when they were introduced, in there last years, The ZR1 was just as fast Porsches fastest car at the time, The GT2RS in bot track and acceleration, The C6 ZO6 wasted anything Porsche or Bmw or Mercedes had at the time, With exception to being slightly slower then a Turbo in acceleration, The C6 GrandSport was faster then a Carrera GTS round a track and in acceleration.
    The C5, The C5 ZO6 was just as fast as a 911 Turbo S round a track, Slightly slower in acceleration, C5 50th was faster then any 911 with exception to the Turbos n GT3, But all Carrera Versions as it was based, Chevrolet at the time never had anything for the 996 GT2, There was no C5 ZR1.
    The C4, The C4 ZR1 was faster then any 911 Turbo, S round a track, They were within less then a second between them, Chevrolet didnt have anything near the power levels or extremes of the 993 GT2 at the time, The GrandSport was faster then any Carrera in acceleration, And was just as fast as any carrera round a track.
    Cant bring up the C3 cause there are way too many variants, Same as the 964, I didnt bother to mention Bmw or Mercedes or Audi from germany simply because they are far behind Porsche and Chevrolet when it comes to laptimes, Acceleration as well, But not as bad, Specially during todays times.

    Are Corvettes plasticy and wannabe Ferraris? Hell yeah. But for the price, it virtually can't be beat for what you can get from it for relatively little investment.

      Ferrari has had a long line of front engine V12s. Look at the 612 and 599 they all are evolutions of the same design. Same goes for corvette similar designs over the generations. The only reason they may look similar is because of government regulations and crash standards can play a heavy part in car design. This is the main reason the corvette has those protruding bits at the front that's to meet UK pedestrian crash safety. This can also affect the belt time and some other parts of the car. They are both low 2 seater "front" engined coupés with similar proportions and cooling needs in the front. Nothing more neither car was inspired by the other.

      I have been through this one before about last year, but sorry it´s late and I really don´t want to do that DNA and design analysis again. The two cars are similar in layout and they are both sports cars. After that the comparison kind of stops. Take two images and put them next to each other (best in the same angle and same color) and you will see that they are quite different in many ways.

      Antonius Tyaswidyono and there are TWO of them! If I ask a kid to design an on and off switch and he showed me these two paddles, I am giving up on humanity and the kid.
      I wonder how much cost reduction this idiotic design really drives, it'd better be a lot! To justify this embarrassment when giving the same cost saving speech each time anyone sees it, and they WILL ask.

    Good frontend grip? Look at those extremely wide tires that are almost slicks and very sticky. Those front tires are wider than the rear tires of most sports cars. The car is like a Alfa C4, almost as wide as it is long.

    • @Fat-bananas
      @Fat-bananas 7 лет назад +7

      well, not talking about z06, just the GS here. While there doesn't seem to be lap times posted at the 'ring so I can't comment on that, we do know at least at VIR it was 2 seconds faster than the Nismo, while also being quicker than a mclaren 570, 458, Huracan, new NSX and is a tenth off porsche's top-end supercar, the 911 GT3 RS.
      At Willow springs, it nips at the 650S, while outperforming the AMG GTS, 911 Carrera S and Turbo S, R8-V10 and 570S.
      No may not be the fastest, but certainly hangs with the best quite comfortably.

    • @timmytimmylin
      @timmytimmylin 7 лет назад

      dk why they put it there... it should be a button somewhere or else its kinda confusing. Basically you can push the paddle to engage and push it again to disengage the rev matching function, rev match is when you downshifts the car automatically adds throttle so you don't loose speed. A lot of cars nowadays have that, it will guarantee a faster lap times but isn't heel and toe the main purpose of a stick lol?

    • @HarryTwatter

    Corvette or Viper?

  • @VorpalBunnysRevenge
    @VorpalBunnysRevenge 7 лет назад

    The biggest problem isn't the car or how good it is -- it's that eventually you're going to take it into a Chevy dealership for service and a minimum wage tool will abuse it. And your service writer will take for some extra money in the bargain.
    When Chevy recognizes they need to provide a different tier of service if they want to sell $100K cars....I'll come back to the question of: Can I spot every single place they've shaved a dime off in the interior?
    History comes back to haunt us all.

    • @TerryTerius
      @TerryTerius 7 лет назад +1

      CBV123 given that Chevy has next to no products that reach that price, I really don't think they're going to revamp existing service centers or open up new ones and hire new staff just for the sake of the Corvette. Maybe the general idea of having more upscale service centers isn't a bad thing, but they wouldn't do it for that reason.
      I don't think that any of the lower market car brands do that. Honda with the NSX, Chevrolet with the Corvette, Nissan with the GTR, etc. though I could certainly be wrong.
