The emotion in her voice is crazy. It's like she pours her whole soul out on stage. Pure magic. Their will never be another woman like Janis Joplin. R.I.P Pearl.
I was 8 years old when she passed, what a sad day, 27 years old, too young to die. I grew up a long wiht my 5 sisters listening to Janis, Hendrix The Beatles, I'm 62 now, and I still listen to Janis. Someone should make a movie about Janis, "I'm not talking about The Rose With Bette Midler, A true movie about Janis, From the time she was in College to her historic music Career,. and find someone that actually looks and sounds like Janis.
Janis was incredible, but Beth Hart comes close. Check out "I am the One" live at the Paradiso. Or her cover of I'd rather be a blind girl with Joe Bonamassa.
when I think of you.....for me, you are my biggest bitch that ever existed, because you missed me when you shouldn't have! and I loved you if you can hear me because you were number 1, in fact, you are even now!!! you shouldn't have broken our hearts so soon, and you should have continued to express your ideals through your beautiful music!!! we miss you so much .....
The unsurpassed, untouchable Janis Joplin - there will never be another - she came and went like a shooting star and left us with mouths aghast in awe at the splendour . . 🙏💥🙏
I saw her at this same Festival Express at the Toronto show. She was all in white with lots of big feathers in hair which fell out after the first couple of songs. There was no one like her at the time, she was the only woman singing like this and looking like this. A phenomena, one of kind. Terrible waste that she died so young, not too long after this, about two months later.
teaberrywmn, She was just that & i was lucky to see her at the 1969 Atlantic City Pop Fest two weeks before Woodstock. She was no longer with Big Brother but the new band she did got dem Ole Cozmic Blues Again LP, & the same band she took to Woodstock. She was her usual awesome self. Lost out on nothing as that was one great 3 day event . Janis was one one best acts their & there was was mighty great bands at that fest. Look it up as there is a plenty on it as well as the whole set list . Biggest bummer was Jimi was slated to play but he was rehearsing with the new band for Woodstock & never made it there.
I just loved her music so much. Got all of her albums and tried singing along with her but she was more than an amazing singer. God bless her song in heaven as she's 27 years old forever now.
Probably the greatest concert movie of the 1960s! The scene where Jerry Garcia looks into Janis Joplin’s eyes and says “You know, I’ve always been in love with you!” - he was speaking for all of us 😃
Except it was in 1970. Summer of 1970. And it was found, restored, and released about 25 years later. If you say greatest of the 1970's, you go up against "The Last Waltz" with The Band and company. But, if you include it as a 60's piece, which you can given the groups who played, yes, it is better than anything else for sure. Buddy Guy and Janis are the best but there are many more good moments. Many.
I was at this concert. Janis was last on the long program, after The Band, whose set included Richard Manuel singing "I Shall Be Released." It was an emotional evening to put it mildly. I couldn't have listened to anyone after Janis, she was mesmerizing even in this song which I had heard on record many times. It was a crossroads time for me, at the end of high school, and I won't ever forget this concert.
Thankful for RUclips as I never appreciated her for being as sweet as her interviews show her to be. Somewhere between a hippie and a biker to me, I thought she was a bitter, but now I know better. She was so beautiful in her soul.
I pull this up every now and then just to visualize the soul of this women, she was blessed in an extraordinary way. It just gives me strength to put myself forward. I grew up in the world as Janis did, she died but not in my heart.
I was there and managed to shuffle my way to the front of the crowd. She blew that packed stadium away! Hard to think it was just 4 months before her tragic death. Smiled all the way through this video. Thanks for rekindling the memory.
This woman went through so much bad in her life from childhood to her last day on earth, she put all that pain into her songs. I loved listening to her since the 70's and it never gets old either. She had a full successful life infront of her but sadly left us way to soon. R.I.P. Janis gone but never forgotten ❤
There's never been anyone like her and probably never will be anyone as good …. her thing was not to sing pretty but rather pull everything out of her soul and guts and hold nothing back and if you can appreciate that then you'll understand why she was the greatest Rock/Blues singer of all time …. there is a video of Joss Stone covering one of Janis's songs , and Joss Stone is a hell of a singer but there is no way she could pull off the level of emotion that Janis could
What a brilliant performance by Ms. Janice Joplin she was a great ,great human being . Unfortunately we lost her way too young and we have missed on her amazing and excellent performances. What a great voice she had. May you REST IN PEACE ✌️ my beautiful lady. We sure miss YOU ‼️ 🌹 😢🌹😢🌹😢🌹💖💖💖💖💖
Because she is singing about the one man she truly loved and who understood her as an equal... He left because she relapsed to her heroin addiction. This is her asking him to come home. Unfortunately, the telegram he sent to ask her to be with him again was found unread on the hotel front desk on the morning after she was found dead... PS... Be thankful of modern communication and call that somebody now...

She pours everything in her heart out into her music. I borrowed my boyfriend's album of her and I asked him to take me to one of her concerts after listening to it. I cried when I found out that she had died. There will never, ever, be another Janis Joplin. She was a great one.
She is full of this painful bliss that just doesn't exist anywhere else like it did in her. My heart weeps with hers whenever I hear her. Each and every song is like a new heartbreak that I welcome open arms.
Ahh, the times when we'd rack up Janis on the turntable and just blast the dorm till everyone was rocking! It never got old and it's never coming back.
Simply amazing performance -- one of the best anyone can possible see even if you don't like her voice all that much. I got to see her three times with Big Brother and the Holding Company and she wowed us each time. This band is better than BB&HC was and that helps a bit, but she just simply got better between 1966 and 1970. Too bad we did not see her after the Fall of 1970. She liked smack too much.
For ever ever the best! She sings with her heart! She is natural full offeelings! She give us all she had! Great talent greatvoice great heart! She sings with angels now
At this Toronto performance, many people couldn’t get in because they didn’t have tickets. You are so very right about that! She was so wonderful and amazing. I loved her energy on stage there.

What a legend! Janis Joplin sang the blues with more power and emotion than anyone else. RIP Pearl. ❤
OMG, she is so amazing.

You’re absolutely right. Singers of today can’t sing worth beans. Talent like this is nonexistent

not at all - she's awful. the best part was when she was talking.

Back in the day!!! Love Janis Joplin. And now Wow!! Woodstock times!
Not only did she feel these songs she lived them on stage. RIP to our wounded tortured hippy chick song bird.

Incredible voice, tormented soul.
I don't believe she was tormented. She was a blues singer, a performer. People read too much into to. She was ambitious and very famous at the time.
My heart always breaks seeing the tremendous talent that is Janis Joplin...,knowing that she would be gone from us a few months later...,
