    Great video. Is there any benefit to flipping the belt over to get more use out of it or is it directional?

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  Год назад

      HI Larry, I'm pretty sure its directional, all other belt sanders I've used have been but I'd have to pop the belt off to check, so I'll let you know. 👍

    Hey Graham. Been meaning to make contact for ages. Actually I watch RUclips on my Apple TV which is great for viewing but doesn’t allow you to make comments. Just finishing off a new workshop myself up in Northamptonshire. Obviously you went through the fun development approval process which is I assume why the ceiling height. My workshop is roughly 9 x 4.5m but with a vaulted ceiling so I got some mezzanine space after it was ready inspected. I have not been active in making woodworking contacts but will in the future as I also want to setup a channel. Background wise I was a carpenter and joiner (trade qualified) in Australia and mainly did staircase work. Don’t do that anymore but love to make so I say I’m a maker. My latest passion is metal engineering (large and milling) and I want to incorporate that into my projects. My next project is a large walk-in pantry with a lazy Susan in the base corner. Will engineer my own rotation mechanism so that’s where I mean incorporate both. It’s an interesting project and about the 4th iteration of the pantry as I built the same in previous houses. I know it’s not a British thing to have walk-in pantries, it’s Australian or maybe American. It’s built completely of Baltic birch ply and the outside will be oak veneer. I set strips into the face before veneer and then v-groove through the veneer into the strip to create panels which are the sprayed anthracite but with grain showing. Trust me I would not paint it but SWIMBO. The workshop is not quite finished so I will not film even though it would be a great project that would probably inspire others. Anyway if you want to get in touch I am Graham.Horne at bateau.co.uk

      HI Graham, good to hear from you. Awesome sounding owrkshop can't wait to see what you have decided to do.. The Pantry idea sounds fabulous, my sister has just moved into a house with a walk in Panty thats about four times the size oy ours, I so want one. I think I've convinced her to let me gut it and build a distressed Oak shelving unit in there for her. 😁
      Also love the sound of the large base Lazy Susan, hmm that gives me an idea for a little corner issue we have. 👍

    Hi Graham - was about to purchase an Axminster belt sander to machine the other Axminster stuff I have (mainly to ensure compatibility on the mitre slots) - then I found your review which is very comprehensive and compelling.
    12 months on are you still happy with it - current cost has risen to £1900 including VAT against the Axminster at c£1200 - Is it still worth the difference excellent video by the way
    Rgds Geoff

      Hi Geoff, thank you. Has it really been 12 months already, wow. Anyway would I buy it again, yes, yes and Yes. It is so well built, and just does its job, no fussing about. If you go for it, then get a selection of papers, including the 150 grit as it just eats anything you put in front of it. I use it to sand the edge of 60mm thick Oak Butchers blocks and I've still got to be careful. Fantastic machine. 👍😁

    Hello Graham, would you be able to tell what kind of Axminster extractor do you have? Thanks.

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  2 года назад

      Hi Zotya, Its made by Jet, sold by Axminster. Its a JCDC2, Cyclone Extractor. Apparently Axminster no longer sell Jet???

    I hate you Grahame (not really) I have just come in after a day in my shop and most of it Bloody sanding, I turn on the computer go over to RUclips and see you with this amazing Belt Sander. She looks great, and very versatile the way it folds over, this would have come in very useful for me today, unfortunately, I only have a small shop, but I'm sure you will get plenty of use out of it. Great review and Happy Sanding. 👍

    Hi Graham.
    I am considering this machine. Do you think it would be suitable for giving MDF edges a quick lick after it comes off the CNC?
    I'm worried I will take the boards out of square.

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  Год назад +1

      Hi Nick, the machine is superb. I made a right Angled Fixture that drops into the slot in the bed so I can keep pieces totally square. 👍

It really comes into its own when something comes out of the clamps, shall we say a little squeed / twisted. pop a little something undeneath to stabilise (I use masking tape) and run it though with out concern.
