As she should, and she would not call them soldiers as they are NOT, they are trainees. One is not a soldier until they are done with basic, at least that's how it was in my day.

I can’t stress how important a good cadence is. Especially during double time. Man I had a DS in 1999 that would get us all fired up. We had a 12 mile March and most of it was double time. He made it to where we didn’t think about how hurt we were, all the shin splints in our legs, the lack of sleep we had, we just kept going. After 9/11 I ran I to him again in Bagram, Afghanistan and was lucky enough fight next to him. He ended up dying from an IED in 2003 and every year on his death day I go to Green Bay and spend the weekend with his family because if it wasn’t for that man, I not only wouldn’t have made it through basic training, I wouldn’t have made it through my deployments, and I wouldn’t have made it through ranger school. I was on Tank Hill at Jackson from July 1980 - Sept. 1980 and my Senior Drill Instructor, SFC Otis C. I served in the Army from 74-77. I loved marching to cadence like this. If you've ever wondered why marching is such a big deal in the military, it's simple. Marching in step in a group is the most expedite means of going from one point to another. Everyone arrives at the same time. Plus it builds unity.

But I can't help but Wonder how much more pleasure we would have gotten out of those 6 Mile runs, if we had drill instructor King calling Cadence! She is a bad bad bad Soldier! Kudos Sergeant King!

For everyone commenting on the cadence being called on the RIGHT ...... it’s not We even did a 1234 in the beginning to assure they were on the left Your mother .....your father etc was home when you left you right if you look we’re called on the correct feet when they said left (left foot was striking , when they said you’re right (right foot was striking ) 2. Once the cadence was started the middle was cut short which made it appear as if the cadence was being called on the right however the steps never changed Thank you

I went basic training there in Ft. Jackson at old hollywood back in 1985 and used to march everywhere and pass through Tank Hill on our way to the BRM range! My Drill Sergeants were Ssg Ham and Sgt Bassett.

But.......
1. For everyone commenting on the cadence being called on the RIGHT ...... it’s not
We even did a 1234 in the beginning to assure they were on the left
Your mother .....your father etc was home when you left you right if you look we’re called on the correct feet when they said left (left foot was striking , when they said you’re right (right foot was striking )
2. Once the cadence was started the middle was cut short which made it appear as if the cadence was being called on the right however the steps never changed

Sorry Ma'am I respect your choices to serve and salute you for it and watching this I can see how much your recruits love and respect you as well but honestly in my opinion with a voice like yours you should be selling out arena's but please stay where you are your doing a better job there with the men and women under your command but please please consider after retirement or when your service time is up try out for the voice or something similar

She has a beautiful voice and I love that she is serving our country. I am planning on going into the military, but specifically the Navy.
One time she marched my platoon back and my voice caught her off guard. It was funny because she was not use to hearing somebody else give it their all.
Also little fact about DS King, she was the fittest female DS at Ft. Jackson I believe. Company B-360th. Bushmasters!

Here's a tip. Remember your "WHY" everytime you wake up a 0500 remember your "WHY." I'm telling you now if you don't have a "WHY" you won't pass. Good luck, you can do it. Anyone can, work hard and remember your "WHY."

@CynicHiss are you serious me too I was F Company 246 my Senior Drill sergeant was Drill Sgt Parker but also so had Drill Sgt South, Drill SGT Odinger. I think that's how you spell his name

I had one during my BCT named DS Christian at FLW, she gave me chills with her voice! Haha

i was hoping that too but i didnt get so lucky i had the DS that couldnt even march us correctly with him in particular we couldnt even get in step when we called cadence since this is right next to my company im not sure if he will see this vid so im not going to name any particular names xD
Back in the day we used to run and sound off w running cadence all the damn time. Loved it. In modern day BCT, not so much.
I went basic training there in Ft. Jackson at old hollywood back in 1985 and used to march everywhere and pass through Tank Hill on our way to the BRM range! My Drill Sergeants were Ssg Ham and Sgt Bassett.

Back in '84 when I was Basic trained at Ft. Bliss, had a DS named SSG.Stotz That sounded exact to this DS and almost as good looking!
Love her voice. Know what I hate? How the recording/sound lag makes it sound like she's calling the cadence on the right foot instead of the left.

LMAO, there was no delay.. she was just calling it on the wrong foot.. restart the video and you’ll see
@@alextravis8429 No she was calling on her left foot at the beginning but around 0:43-0:44, it went kinda hinky. It might have been that the last cadence was so long it caused a misstep and she somehow started calling on her right.

Why are they walking? For eight weeks we ran everywhere. Athletic shoes , shorts, hydration? The army sure has changed. Ft. Jackson, 1966.
I assume because the amount of miles traveled has increased and jogging everywhere would cause more problems than what the principal is worth.
