Bass Fishing with a New Lure - PowerBait Max Scent Creature Hawg!

  • I am out bass fishing with a new lure, the PowerBait Max Scent Creature Hawg! Similar to a Pit Boss, this is a scented flipping bait. The Max Scent series is somewhere between traditional powerbait, and Gulp Alive. It has a wet feel and is just a bit spongy. In a high pressure situation among people and boat traffic, I am able to catch a couple of largemouth bass. Powerbait typically performs well for me and I was confident this lure would do well. If you want to try a new fishing lure, consider PowerBait Max Scent if you can find it on sale.

That first boat came in more respectfully than the second one in the video. I know it says “no wake” and he cuts the engine at that point, but still, that causes waves for five minutes running the gas motor that close to shore.

(No, I don't really mean this!) You should do a "found stuff" fishing challenge. You go with an empty reel on a rod, and spool it with the line you gather. As much as people like to leave behind, I'm sure that wouldn't be too difficult!
Actually, I visited a new spot after I last moved, and found enough braid to probably about half-fill a baitcaster. I think someone went out trying to learn how to cast, and was really mad at their backlash.

You know how ned rigs AREN'T WEEDLESS? My friend just showed me today that using an arkie shakey head and a z man trd alaztech ned rig plastic makes the ned rig weedless! It has to be the z man trd though so it "floats" I slayed the fish today on that rig and just thought I'd share the wealth with you. Keepin it realistic💯

One tip I learned this year that has helped me catch noticeably more fish, is to cast close to the bank from a distance. By not approaching the shoreline so quickly, I've caught a lot of nice bass that like to hang out by the reeds and grasslines near the shores of the places I fish! Today I clapped about 8 bass and all were picked off from the bank within a 15 foot radius from the shoreline. I try to stay about 4 or 5 yards away from the shore when I cast to reduce spooking any fish. Not sure if you've heard of this tip before, but if you haven't it's worth giving it a try!

Had not caught anything for years before that, as I only fished very occasionally.
