I agree. Also, mobile ports don't have to be "console games, but worse", many of them have controller support which makes them just as playable as the original. Even on emulators you can use controllers. He didn't mention controller support at all. And I really have to say, as a person who likes mobile games (not the stupid, pay2win games) they can be really good. If you make it right, sometimes touch controls are way better than playing with a controller. For example, hungry shark. I played it on console and on my phone, and I feel like I can control it better with touch. It's a simple game concept but it's really, really fun and still gets updates after 6 years. The only things that's horrible right now: thrash Games, or bad game updates. Hungry shark got an update that added a battle pass like fortnite and made previously free obtainable items only obtainable with real money. These days, good games are very hard to find and there are more trashy games flooding the Play Store. The companies and the people saying "mobile gaming isn't real gaming" should give it a chance. I hope to someday create a good mobile game in my free time, without any pay2win things.
I grabbed the Android port of GRID Autosport on the Play Store for dirt cheap and I had fun playing it (despite having grabbed a PC copy for free via giveaway), the developers behind that port (and the iOS port) also went into making the Switch port of that game, while the price tag ($35) is rather questionable; I definitely recommend giving it a try, it's a pretty good simcade racer, it's also one of some Switch games (aside from Smash) to support the GameCube controller, plus it also has multiplayer, both local and online.
the same people who ported Grid also ported Alien Isolation, in the android version you of both games you can change visual options locked in the game via files even adding 120fps
Dead Cells port is pretty good, sure playing with a touch screen is not for all people but you could connect most recent gamepad to your phone nowadays.
Should’ve mentioned Alien: Isolation and octodad dadliest catch. From what I’ve seen, there is pretty much no visual downgrade for either of these and the controls aren’t too difficult to get used to. Honestly. More people need to play alien isolation on mobile, it’s insane how good the visuals are, in comparison to even console and pc games.
i thought that this would be a video reviewing mobile ports lol. though in my opinion what was actually in the video is WAY better than reviewing mobile ports

I'm surprised that Skyrim hasn't gotten a mobile port yet given all the ports and rereleases it's gotten over the years. Also do you have a link to that Billie Jean cover you use in your videos? It sounds really nice
The game already runs rather poorly even on mid range pcs, imagine the full damn game on your phone. But hey you get a portable stove, how cool is that?
@@gkbrickworks7924 you can actually emulate skyrim with a pc emulator(due to bad coding the emulator actually only uses 30% of your phone's capabilities). And other pc games too like devil may cry 4, metal gear rising revengeance. Phones aren't as weak as they were back in the early 2000s.
As someone with only a phone to play games, I've gotten pretty used to touch controls. Also phones can emulate way more recent consoles, wii, ps2, switch, 3ds. All of these can be emulated
Mobile ports on their own are perfectly fine. I DO HOWEVER have an issue when colonies take the mobile port and rerelease it on console as a REMASTER or a DEFINITIVE EDITION, but surely no company would Be shitty enough to release an inferior version of their games not once, but twice, right? RIGHT???
You are kidding me. Dead Space mobile is a very different game and a pretty good one actually! It's not just a port, the controls are pretty well adapted for touchscreens, and not only that, but the game controls well, have nice visuals and the story is great. I don't think you played it enough to say that. And there's tons of good ports for mobile. Dead Cells, Don't Starve, Genshin Impact, a lot of Adventure Point and Click games (better than playing with a gamepad since you just need to click the screen anyway), etc
In some parts of the world (mainly South and Southeast Asia), mobile gaming is very popular not really because people enjoy them, but more because many of them can't afford a powerful enough console/ gaming PC to play the latest cool games. Sometimes they don't have a choice. And as a Southeast Asian (Malay) teenager myself, when I see the lazy effort put into most mobile games in general, sometimes I wonder if the gaming industry even cares about us... P/S: While I do have a PC, it's not very powerful. Forza Horizon 4 (demo, by the way) runs like utter garbage.
Same goes for eastern Europe. I'm Ukrainian teenager, I can't afford neither consoles nor PC, I'm on my way to finishing building of my first pretty powerful PC (it must be able to run all of new games in 1080p on medium/high/max settings and older ones or less graphically intense (like GTA V) in 2k res with no problems) but it still takes a ton of time to get enough money with only my own effort
Even outside emulation there are many many skilled people who have made unofficial mobile ports for mobile. For example: hollow knight or rain world, Cuphead, and many more
I think the only mobile ports that succeed in mobile market are League of Legends:Wild Rift Call of Duty Mobile PUBG Mobile Apex Legends Mobile Minecraft PE While we having other pc games coming to mobile like Rainbox Six Mobile Rogue Company Elite Warzone Mobile Battlefield Mobile

I love how rockstar just refuses to just port gta 4 even with today’s technology I mean Cmon you have billions of dollars and thousands of employees How hard can it be to port a 14 year old game?
It can be very hard actually They would first would have to make it mobile friendly by adding touch screen controls and then they would have to dumb down graphics a tad so the game won’t lag and heat up your phone.
@@eduardpaduraru3090 a iPhone 13 could run it at about 480p since the specs aren’t really that demanding(it can run on a xp with 1.5gb of ram) Also gta 4 can be run quite smoothly on modern pc’s if you use the right settings
A few things I would like to mention: Firstly, the mobile gaming market is apparently worth as much as the PC and console gaming market combined, which is interesting. Secondly, a thing I don’t get is why game companies don’t focus more on the fact that you can literally mount a controller to your phone, achieving arguably better input variety than on consoles, seeing as you’ve got a whole lot of interesting additional input methods on the phone when a controller is mounted to it. A phone with a controller is arguably much more powerful (if there were more good games for it) and at the same time cheaper than a Switch, since you only need a controller and a phone mount for that setup in addition to the phone you probably have anyway. Lastly, I actually feel that SOME games control better on a touchscreen than on a controller, such as Diablo Immortal (not touching that game again tho)
I played diablo immortal with a controller and it's freaking enjoyable (sadly it's my first experience playing a diablo game because I don't have a pc).... But I quit after the game started forcing me to download extra, same with codm, bgmi, apex legends and PUBG new state... I mean the entire Nova 3 was 2.3gb and modern combat 4 was around 2gb.... So why can't they compress it better ? I rely on my cellular data for downloading so I can't bear to recharge so I quit them
@@nishikun867 I just felt that the controls worked better on touch than on a controller for me. About the emulators, you are actually able to play some semi recent games depending how good your phone is. For example I actually have an emulator and have downloaded some Ps2 games like God of War and Mortal Kombat Armageddon And I have recently seen a video of someone who has managed to port Mortal Komabat 1 (2023) into their phone! The game even looked better quality than the switch version!
I’d like to shoutout Graphsim for making a faithful mobile version of FA-18 Hornet on iOS. Laminar Research has a pretty good mobile version of X-Plane too. I wish realistic, high-fidelity air combat simulation becomes big on mobile one day. Why can’t I still easily run IL-2 Sturmovik on a phone in 2022?
I actually like playing on my phone more than on my switch. My phone is more powerful, less heavy, has better battery life and a better display. the only problem is the lack of games and the requirement of having to have a compatible Bluetooth controller.
Cloud gaming also seems to be a decent option, although the default touchscreen controls for many games are not that great if you have a controller you can connect it’s a pretty good experience still

When he said Minion Run, l just realised this is the most ripoffed category ever.
It's honestly cool how u can play GTA, sonic and emulators of consoles is honestly pretty cool instead of taking a switch in ur pocket all the time
Dead Cells port is pretty good, sure playing with a touch screen is not for all people but you could connect most recent gamepad to your phone nowadays.
Idk why but i find playing dead cells on my phone easier than playing on my pc :p
I thought I was the only one that thought this. My only issue is that Dead Cells mobile isn't updated as much, but it's fine.
I got JUMPSCARED BY THAT at the beginning
Same
Should’ve mentioned Alien: Isolation and octodad dadliest catch. From what I’ve seen, there is pretty much no visual downgrade for either of these and the controls aren’t too difficult to get used to.
Honestly. More people need to play alien isolation on mobile, it’s insane how good the visuals are, in comparison to even console and pc games.
Will you be reviewing/rating mobile ports anytime in the near future?
t3rr0r is like a holiday its comes once a month but dang it good
i thought that this would be a video reviewing mobile ports lol. though in my opinion what was actually in the video is WAY better than reviewing mobile ports
People severely underestimate the sheer computational power of a lot of phones nowadays
But really tho, who would buy a high end phone when you can buy a gaming pc? Unless you have money that you can throw
@@Landy_AM most people like myself really dont have the skills or time or will to build our own pcs so theyre really overpriced and if people just want to play fortnite or COD for cheap phones/tablets can fit their needs
Recently developers are putting more effort / content into mobile games
Yeah, now they have the power of a PS3/Xbox 360 maximum.
That minion run jokes seriously took by surprise...
There's a studio called "butterscotch shenanigans" they make insanely good games for PC and mobile.

Had to check again if this video was uploaded 3 years ago, but its uploaded recently. Android emulation has developed rapidly since then.
You should add PSP, GameCube, Wii, 3DS, and PS2, yes PS freakin 2 on your mobile device. Slap the Bluetooth controller and BAM, portable PS2. Heck even Switch emulator can run WITCHER 3 & Super Mario Oddessy (you need powerful flagship phone to run it)
OH YEAH? WELL SONIC 2 MOBILE PORT IS CALLED THE BEST VERSION OF THE GAME
Well this is happening again, rainbow six siege and COD warzone are both coming to phones. Also if you wanted to know yes, you can still tear down the entire building in R6 mobile
@@gkbrickworks7924 That's some bad midrange pc you have if it can't even run skyrim decently
“Which is just a ripoff of Minion Run!!”
Subway Surfers: … seriously
The Mega Man Mobile ports are god awful, mainly due to their artificial slowness.
Yet I beat Mega Man's 1-3 on Mobile
It's capcom.. they always sucked in mobile platforms.
Nice video! This is the first time I found your channel in my home section! I like you! You've earned yourself a new subscriber! :)
It might work for classic/retro games on older platforms, but modern console games... yeah no
Geometry Dash started as a mobile game AND THEN was released on Steam.
As someone with only a phone to play games, I've gotten pretty used to touch controls. Also phones can emulate way more recent consoles, wii, ps2, switch, 3ds. All of these can be emulated
I don't know any good PS2 emulators for Android, mind naming any? :)

agreed, and with most phones having more storage by default we can maybe get some story games.
I respect the background music bro 👌
Mobile ports on their own are perfectly fine.
I DO HOWEVER have an issue when colonies take the mobile port and rerelease it on console as a REMASTER or a DEFINITIVE EDITION, but surely no company would
Be shitty enough to release an inferior version of their games not once, but twice, right?
RIGHT???
yea especially when the main point wasnt even good

Uhh maybe somebody rocked some stars and it happened..

Bro, stumble guys got popular In my country when is ripoff of fall guys lol
You should mention taptap in part 2
Edit: also the jumpscare in the intro actually got me good
In some parts of the world (mainly South and Southeast Asia), mobile gaming is very popular not really because people enjoy them, but more because many of them can't afford a powerful enough console/ gaming PC to play the latest cool games.
Can relate

Even outside emulation there are many many skilled people who have made unofficial mobile ports for mobile. For example: hollow knight or rain world, Cuphead, and many more
I think the only mobile ports that succeed in mobile market are
League of Legends:Wild Rift
Call of Duty Mobile
PUBG Mobile
Apex Legends Mobile
Minecraft PE
While we having other pc games coming to mobile like
Rainbox Six Mobile
Rogue Company Elite
Warzone Mobile
Battlefield Mobile
GTA 3 Mobile and GTA Sand Andreas mobile are pretty decent as well
@@DiamondDepthYT Yes those games are top paid games on playstore
GRID Autosport on mobile is pretty sick
there is an absolutely fantastic unofficial mobile port of doom, its called delta touch
its creator also made ports of quake (quad touch) and build engine games (zeta touch, only avalible at his website)
quad and delta are paid tho
Hey, crowdmaster 3D pro here. I can confirm that being on level 200+ breaks your sanity. Also, I want crowdmaster 2d sequel *NOW*
I love how rockstar just refuses to just port gta 4 even with today’s technology
I mean Cmon you have billions of dollars and thousands of employees
How hard can it be to port a 14 year old game?
It can be very hard actually
They would first would have to make it mobile friendly by adding touch screen controls and then they would have to dumb down graphics a tad so the game won’t lag and heat up your phone.
@@THE_flushingtoilet yeah maybe I’m being a little too harsh
But I think they could make it with enough elbow grease and patience
Gta 4? On mobile? Be serious, you can barely run this game on today's computers
@@eduardpaduraru3090 a iPhone 13 could run it at about 480p since the specs aren’t really that demanding(it can run on a xp with 1.5gb of ram)

@@eduardpaduraru3090 apex on mobile?
This man really got a retro version of Billy Jean playing in the background 😂
2:04 your telling me that bioshock could run on a iPhone that's actually amazing
Btw, I have Apex Legends downloaded with all the extra content, and it’s about 5,6GB, which is WAY better than PUBGm or CoDm. I feel like they need more because 1. all the optional cosmetics, you don’t have to download those, though, and 2. the maximum graphics fidelity appears to be quite a bit higher than N.O.V.A.3. Dang, I miss N.O.V.A.3 and other older mobile shooters, tried to download it again, but crashes every time after the title screen. Why aren’t there any more mobile shooters with a great (or one that even exists) single player mode?
@@dominicstocker5144 yeah apex legends mobile is around that size.... But the gameplay is a bit boring for me..... And same thought like you.... I have NOVA 3 back up to a hard disk.... Tried installing and playing in my current phone but it's crashed saying the app is made for older version of Android.... I wish Gameloft would return to its glorious days when they were making great story driven games for mobiles
it's actually entirely possible to use a controller with a phone, as long as it has bluetooth and the emulator supports it (most do!)
grab a dualshock or xbox controller and have fun!
i personally find touch controls better than controllers because of the fact that its easier to make precise turn on touch rather than on a joystick
I love the persona 5 background music, it fits so well
Why did you not bring up any actual good mobile ports like dead cells or stardew valley or dont starve
Dis video is empty without T3rr0r's Screams
Genshin impact is the perfect example how to do a multiplatform pc/console/mobile release right, i mean the controls are feel right in every platform.
Also feral interactive games like grid, tropico, alien isolation are the best full ports nowadays.
Yeah, Genshin impact is a perfect multiplatform game, i even like the mobile controls more than pc, and most definitely more than console controls. How polished the mobile controls are in Genshin just blows up my mind

F1 2016 is a weird mobile Port, it physically works but the sound fades in and out randomly, also the first official F1 mobile game was F1 2009, a Port of the PSP and Wii game
I use a sega genesis emulator, ds emulator and a gba emulator. I play pvz ds and pokemon emerald along with some sonic rom hacks and s3&k because there is no mobile port for that game (if the music for the first half of the game was from michael jackson, why can't they just use the sonic 3 and knuckles pc port music?). Here are the emulators if anyone's interested: Gba Lite, Drastic (if you don't like that the emulator costs money, use an emulator called "FreeDS" as it's the only other good ds emulator) and Emu MD XL.
You should play sonic 3 a.i.r. instead of the original genesis game it supports widescreen and has a lot of customization options

About the emulators, you are actually able to play some semi recent games depending how good your phone is.

There's a port of tjoc r and sm the graphics are kinda bad but it still playable
I actually like playing on my phone more than on my switch.
My phone is more powerful, less heavy, has better battery life and a better display. the only problem is the lack of games and the requirement of having to have a compatible Bluetooth controller.
What fucking lack of games you just aren’t looking hard enough
Cloud gaming also seems to be a decent option, although the default touchscreen controls for many games are not that great if you have a controller you can connect it’s a pretty good experience still
