If ESO adds a pirate class based off luck & primary weapons flintlock rifle or pistol & one handed sword like a pirate. It makes sense cause there's plenty of boats and docks in the game. Pirates should have existed in that era and they need a gun class anyway so Pirate would be perfect to fit in. This would revamp the game increased sells bringing players back and keeping them interested in the story. It will blow FFXVI in the water
Eso os terrible Nickle and dime you to squeeze every last dollar they can... eso is basically a gotcha game except you have to buy it to play. Rip off.
ive tried both and i just couldnt get into the world building and dialogue of final fantasy. i was constantly skipping through cutscenes and conversations. elder scroll on the other hand has me sitting through all dialogue reading it thoroughly and able to picture everything theyre saying in my mind. thats what pushes it as the winner to me personally
As a regular player of FFXIV, I’ve been interested in trying ESO for while. This video was fantastic and was exactly what I wanted to see in terms of how the games compared to each other. Also, thanks for the heads-up on going into ESO with a story guide. It would have really turned me off if I started doing main quests is random order and had no idea what was going on. 👍
Awww thanks! Yes story guide is a must since there is so many expansions. I hate playing things out I order! It’s a lot different since you can anywhere in the game. Also look up builds and kinda plan what you want. They separate into stamina and magical builds for each class generally. They also have a third stat health which is usually only ever for a tank. It also is way looser on the dungeon system. Example Being you could be a dps and queue as a healer.
Note on ESO crafting timeline. You can always purchase (in game, guild traders or ESO store) instant research scrolls that have 1 day cool downs. So 30 days can be completed in 15. You can also get instant research scrolls from the Daily Rewards that have no cool downs you can use in addition to the in game purchased type.
Great video, you put a lot of effort in it thanks for your work, your video was exactly what I was looking for! I'm a former ESO player on Xbox one, the game was cool I like the fact to just have one character and one class so that I could really focus on maxing it. But now I am considering playing FF, I'll see when my PC arrives. But thanks again, I hope your channel gets even more attraction you did a tremendous work!!
I’m glad the video helped! Once I can go full time with RUclips, I want to do more videos with this but of course gotta hit that 1000 subscriber mark first! Come to the dark side with ffxiv! It’s my favorite game and you won’t be disappointed. Also depending on your computer specs look if gshade which is like post processing graphics for games. It makes ffxiv look amazing
@@BunBossFFXIV Yeah, that 1000 subs, that's a long run. But honestly we can feel your passion in your videos the quality is there, I was actually surprised that you didn't have more subs. But it doesn't matter how long it takes for you to get there, keep on grinding, it will pay! Yeah I guess I will start FF I do like the universe as well so I'll probably like this game too!
Why I love FFXIV more (although I’ve played Skyrim for ungodly amount of time in the past): 1.) Community: It’s unlike any other MMO I’ve played before people are so friendly, friendly in fact that I made friends just by goofing off and dancing around in the three main cities with barely any interactions. 😆🤣 2.) Story: We have some moments in the main story that gave me goosebumps and nearly brought me to tears and also some funny moments not to mention the soundtracks compliments it. 3.) Classes/Jobs: Like literally I main four different tanks that being Paladin, Warrior, Dark Knight, and Gunbreaker in one character, as far as alt character goes I know I don’t have to but I made them anyways and made them all female except for my main. 4.) Characters/Fanservice: There’s literally enough for everyone depending what you’re into like all the playable characters as so beautiful, sexy, and cute. Also regarding NPC they have their own fanbase like for example, Y’shtola fans, Thancred fans, Tataru fans and so on. 5.) Glamour: If you don’t like your current armor but like the stats you have glamour, also you can use it to look like your favorite character me personally I’m proud of my Dante (from Devil May Cry) glam. 😎
I bought ff14 complete edition and i think i made a mistake because every single quest giver talks a lot with that 18th century british or scottish slang accent, and as a non english born speaker it is kind of tiring having to read all of that, got to lv 18 without understanding a thing about the lore of the quests i did tbh. On the other hand ESO's missions are way easier to follow and understand, and i already know a lot about the elder scrolls lore, so even better, ESO may not be as popular nor have flying mounts like ff14 but at least the voice acting makes the game experience a lot better.
These are some really good points. ESO really does invest in the alot in their voice acting. FFXIV is starting to with later expansions, but Eso did it right off the back.
I will forever prefer FF14 class system, being able to choose whatever class you want with just a bit of work to find it, is so much better then being stuck on the same class forever and not having a chance to change it if you happen to not like whatever class you initially chose.
Great video, I am more of an ESO fan myself but love the Final Fantasy franchise and wanted to start on FFXIV. My biggest issue with FFXIV is how overwhelming it is at the beginning. The menus, UI, store are so much more confusing to navigate compared to ESO imo. On the other hand, I have an issue with the story in ESO. When you begin the story of a DLC and then go back to do the main story, the game ignores your progress and characters don't know you which breaks the immersion. Last thing, playing ESO on PS4 I wasn't happy having to pay for PS Plus and the game doesn't support cross play. On FFXIV though you can play the base game until level 60(?) for free, only need one subscription and there is cross play and cross saves. I think I will be sticking to ESO though as I am more invested in the universe and it's so much more straightforward to get into. Keep up the good work!
I am actually working on building a FFXIV Library to help with all the questions that new players have! I am really excited to put it out. Yes you can play the free trial as long as you have not started the game yet up to 60 with the first expansion. ESO is a really amazing game and I wish I had time to play it full time as well. Maybe when I go full time at RUclips I can incorporate those ESO!
i currently play eso and i love it. totally agree on the micro transactions being absurd. ALLLL the best looking gear and mounts are stuck behind their "gambling" system. you cant even pay real money for them. i heard great things anout ff14 and played a few of the other titles before and looking to possibly get into it
Iv played eso for years and recently started on ff14 and now I can’t decide which to focus lol. They both have a lot of wins for me. This didn’t help (video was great) it just showed me there’s more to consider than I realised lmao.
Pretty good comparison overall. I wanted to note though, you actually don't need to go through ESO's story at all if you don't want to. Almost all of the content isn't locked behind the main story. None of the world bosses, dolmens, delves, public dungeons, instanced dungeons, raids, arenas, crafts, or pvp content is locked behind the story. Only a handful of skill trees are locked behind story progression, and it's not progression across all zones but rather progression on individual story archs like the thieves guild or assassin's guild. Usually those aren't skill trees most people use in builds either so it's unneeded for alts. Also, skill points are actually pretty easy to obtain for alts. I leveled most of my alts doing public dungeons, which each have a skyshard and a skill point for the big group boss, and instanced dungeons, which have skill points for the dungeon quest. You also get skill points thrown at you in pvp and find skyshards pretty easily especially with mods while running to public dungeons and inside delves. The tedious things to do when leveling an alt are usually leveling the skill trees, though most of the trees happen pretty quickly overall. The annoying skill tress to level are the ones that don't level automatically level as you do things, like the mages guild which requires you to find books and can be quite long and boring to do if you're not questing, skyshard hunting, or lvling through delves or public dungeons. I say all of this as somebody who's over Champion 1100, has over 62 days playtime, and has 7 fully geared characters with a bank full of gear yet hasn't fully finished the main games story for all 3 factions nor have I started almost all of the story in DLC and expansion content. I'm currently going through the story on my main but it's absolutely not needed to do and you can easily lvl an alt with most of the skills lines you want in a few days.
Xbox...ESO champion level 759 played all the storylines PC ...ESO...champion level 742...never played one storyline or side quest at all So ESO...killing enemies is the only way you need to level Crafting for solid gear to carry you through endgame...either yourself or guild mate Just started ff14...transition is difficult Totally different mindser
@@BunBossFFXIV Yep it's kind of like the differences between doing the normal offline games. Elder Scrolls let's do whatever where as Final Fantasy is more structured and has a set layout for progression. Both are great but very different approaches.
As a ESO player with 3 maxed out toons. I really recommend Final Fantasy 14 over Elder Scrolls Online. Final Fantasy 14 has a lot of quality of life features that is not seen in ESO. On the other hand ESO decideds to keep their quality of life features in it's cash shop. The amount of pay for convenience ESO has on it's cash store even for the ESO+ memebers is comparable to the Free To Play games. For a game that is marketed as a Buy to Play (that also offers a subscription service) is unacceptable in my opinion. They should renamed the game EAlder Scrolls Online at this point...
This is such a good point! Like I said in the video, you will spend so much on ESO just for those quality of life improvements like you mentioned! FFXIV offers so much not even including the content. It’s like stories within stories!
@@BunBossFFXIV Yeah! ESO is a great game for sure if it was a bad I game why i would bother to max out 3 toons but the monetization is just too aggressive. Anyways thanks for the video i just started FF14 and having a blast right now. Quality of content is amazing! I highly suggest you to check out Guild Wars 2 too :)
Great video, man! just got back into ffxiv after about 6 years of not even thinking about it. having a bunch of fun, but wanted to see if i should put consideration to eso. this video helped me decide which is more my style (ffxiv).
Awwww thanks! They are so different and like you said it just a different style honestly! That’s a really good way to put it. Neither good or bad just different
I played eso for over 500h and quit and looking for a new mmo and ff14 popped up on steam, never played any final fantasy game so this video is golden to me to get a really good picture on what to expect when I was so used to eso style.
I've tried ESO multiple times because Skyrim is one of my favourite games of all time and I also enjoying Morrowind and Oblivion but I just can't get into it. I started FF14 about 3 weeks ago and I've already played about 150 hours. I haven't played much Final Fantasy either apart from FF15 and FF16 along with the FF7 remake. I did dabble with FF10 and some of the early games years ago but I don't count that.
Played WoW, then switched to ESO. Was curious about FF14, but after this honest break down I think I'll watch streams or RUclips vids, but stick to ESO. Thinking about watching a YT breakdown of the FF14 storyline.
After over a decade of WoW, I moved to Ff14, but ultimately ended up on ESO. Having more consistent content additions, as well as actual pvp helps a lot to keep you busy. If you're a WoW player looking for a new game, I'd definitely suggest trying ESO.
For someone who plays both games, I didn't really have to watch your video, but I did! And let me says, great content dude! I mainly play FFXIV for endcontent, just like i did with Wow. For ESO, its the story. I'm just having a hard time following in the story in FFXIV, and I do think its done better in ESO
when i played ff this is how it went. beat the story. do dailies now to grind classes and mounts and armors and weapons. so far in eso im getting i dont have to beat the story to unlock all dungeons trials and raids (idk if they have that in eso i know they have dungeons maybe their called something else or have something else) and instead of grinding multiple classes i stick to one character i made (for now until max) so yeah my main question is what are eso's side content to do daily for exp (in ff its duty roulette''s dungeons trials and raids) (extreme versions to unlock weapons mounts armors)
Hey for ESO, you don’t need to purchase anything to unlock maps for leveling shards. The game allows addons, and they’re pretty straight forward to use! Also you can earn dlc just by grinding the game!
@@BunBossFFXIV sorry maybe I gave some misinformation. You are able to buy crowns from people in game with your own gold. People will sell maybe 1crown for 300 gold
As someone who has playing eso for years i can say Eso has 6 classes but there many 7 variations for each class which are different but with hundreds of micro variations. Example- mag Templar, stam Templar, healer Templar, tank Templar, pvp mag Templar, pvp stam Templar, then a hybrid Templar.
I played FFXIV for its pretty character/armor design, but gave up on shadowbringers, the stories was good but most of the story quests are super boring, and the combat system is boring too. I just wish there's a game combines ESO's gameplay systems and FFXIV's character/armor design. For now, I enjoying ESO much more than FFXIV in the past.
Both are good games with it's unique mechanics. I personally prefer Eso. Ff14 has many stuff I like too especially it's story and the fact that you level up all classes if you want avoiding the process of backtracking and playing the whole game again just for 1 class.
Regarding Classes in ESO: they're not that important. There are so many fun skill lines to unlock outside of Class skills, opening up the option to just create whatever class you want and fits your playstyle or character (for rp purposes). I played as a swordsman for months, using only weapon skills, and it was just as viable as any class. Same goes for gear. You can pick whatever you like, and have fun. Any set, skills, weapons etc. are strong enough to clear most content. Horizontal progression really won me over in ESO. I also only ever played on 1 character, never needed an alt.
I played both.. I actually like ESO better BUT as someone who leaves in asia.. I got poor latency and weaving in battle is SO hard.. closer to end game Ppl expect you to be able to hit a certain DPS range and its not possible without weaving your skills
Also, ESO has full talented voice actors everywhere which captures the magic without reading, but reading is up to you if you didn't understand a fictitious word.
I played ff14 for a few hours and I guess I'm missing something but no big story started and no cut scenes stsrter except when I first loaded up the game. Everyone talks about the story I guess you have to be a certain level before the story starts or something?
What i hate about FF14 is the cost. Like 70€ for the full game is fine, fantastic even, but having to pay 12€ a month is crazy. I get that there is server costs and whatever but ESO don’t require a monthly subscribtion so ion get what the problem is with all other MMO games
I think what I i like about eso over ff14 is leveling I beat the story its mostly emoting for npc and fetch quest but cool boss fights but getting 2 levels in eso is so painful on eso I can power level through killing on ff14 I cant cause cool down limits kill speed and you need people to level efficiently for that reason your leveling options are fates: random encounters Daily dungeon: gives a decent amount but only once a day Side quest: even high level quest give low amounts of exp apart from leveling loved the world and enemies Another annoying thing was my stats being weakened or locked based on level of the dungeon or event removes the sense of progression. Also and it cost 10-20 dollars to change to a race of a character you played 60 dollars for in a dlc no free race change
My issue stopping me from getting into FF14 is I don't know anything about the world of FF. I'm not invested into the world and lore and characters and monsters. Just zero attachment. But ESO, man, I love that game world. I've watched hour long lore videos on the lore of Tamriel. And when I see something in game it only depends my connection to the game. It's hard to break away from that. Keep in mind I'm completely new to eso. Like maybe 30 days into the game very casually. But I just don't know how to convince myself to try FF14.
Not sure if you play Phantasy Star Online but I it would be dope if you could do a comparison between these 3. As a console gamer who is excited for the graphic and systems upgrades coming out for all 3 a guide would be amazing.
I sure would like to! I never had the chance to play that game but heard it is amazing! Once I go full time with RUclips I would be able to! Make sure to subscribe to help me make that happen 💜
I LOVE TES III IV & V (Skyrim's double hand destruction magic & Bow / arrow stealth were so satisfying).., but ESO feels like a "light" TES version with worse combat.., couldnt keep playing it (but I still play OG Morrowind, Oblivion & Skyrim today.. replaying those is more fun than ESO imo)
Just gonna say that despite the way it is described here, ESO while it does offer items in the Crown Store 97% of everything in the crown store is available in the game for 0 real world money. Additionally any ESO+ subscribers (which is not required to play) you receive around 1200 crowns a month, and purchasing multiple months at once with the discounted price awards all crowns upfront for that time. ESO's crown store gives nothing that will give a player some gameplay advantage over another player. Additionally FFXIV sells level boost allowing players to pay for a skip to 10 levels below the max level and story skips so players can pay to skip whole expansion chapters. ESO does offer more in its store however as stated almost everything in its store is available for $0 by playing the game and either earning an achievement or using the gold from in game. In the leveling experience ESO is much better, as any alts created immediately start out with all CP (champion points) obtained by any character on the account, giving alts a bit of extra power to help with their leveling experience, PVP is also more robust and expansive in ESO compared to almost any MMORPG on the market, this includes WoW. FFXIV is a great game, but ESO is just as good in several areas and even better in others, it should also be noted that ESO has crafting sets that require unique areas to make such as cyrodiil's PVP focused sets that require players to venture deep into enemy territory to craft. It is definitely not as robust as FFXIV's crafting but is leaps and bounds better than things like WoW's crafting systems.
The note about wows crafting system is so spot on! As far as the crowns with membership, in my opinion you still end up spending more in eso the ffxiv. I had both games and have dropped hundreds more in eso. There tactics are far more aggressive then ffxiv. All in all, I do agree eso is good in some areas but the infrastructure is just not there for eso. They have far more bugs, glitches and issues with servers. I heard they were suppose to be updating there servers so hopefully that can make some changes to the infrastructure to make it more consistent. Great opinion though and I think you make some great points from an eso perspective! 💜💜💜
This is probably one of the best comparisons I've seen. The only thing it doesn't mention is that ESO uses many of WoW's addiction tactics, but it instead adds the inconveniences of a mobile game as well. Certain things require you to play 180 days to unlock them. If you can't play for a month, then you have a Saturday to play 14 hours, ESO punishes you big time. The daily time gates are EXTREME compared to FFXIV where playing 14 hours is playing 14 hours.
Other than mount stuff I don’t really feel that, and I have played both WoW and ESO endgames extensively. I hate the mount stuff and all but otherwise I think its better addiction wise as you don’t have to grind to CP 160 on multiple characters since its account wide and after CP 160 you don’t get better gear unless you upgrade it to different tiers, unlike WoW where you are on a constant gear grind.
I have played FFXIV and now is playing ESO. What put me off from FFXIV and prefer ESO is that I have played Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind and I REALLY HATE SUBSCRIPTION based game. I prefer buy to play.
I totally understand that! I grew up in an era of buying a game once and finishing it. Never having to worry about purchasing anything again. But with mmos of new content, maintenance etc. subscriptions is how they do all that. It really is an interesting genre of games
One thing I think is worth noting that I don’t think you mentioned is that in eso your class can do all 3 roles so if you do make an alt it’s because you want to play with other class skills and less about your role in group content
true, but you have use ingame gold and other ingame devices to even set that up, while in FF14 you just have to lvl 3 different jobs, which is honestly way easier.
@@10tailedbijuu it’s as easy as farming skill points and getting the gear for those roles to drop in the same instances you are already running and using the armory system to set loadouts
Have played a bunch of both games. Honestly prefer ESO just because there's alot of content and different builds and stuff you can mess with. FFXIV just suffers from some pretty rough content droughts. I will say that the group content in FFXIV is far superior to ESO. It is also much more polished. ESO has so many performance issues and bugs that have been in the game for years. It's frustrating.
@Sean Kaiserschmidt Yeah I'm starting to give up hope. Considering last year was supposed to be the year of performance and it has only gotten worse. Cyrodiil is border line unplayable most of the time. The other week I spent three hours collecting the museum pieces for the wrothgar hero achievement only for it to not give me credit for it after turning all the pieces in. Low and behold after a google search that bug has been in the game for almost a year now. What a shocker.
@@EvolutionIX219 Yea exactly! Like i hope when people see this to know we are not being dramatic, like there was no getting into Cyrodiil or playing pvp and when you did it was roughhhhhhhh
My main mmo is dc universe but i dabbled in the big 3. WoW. FF. ESO. I got to level cap in wow. I only got to around 30ish on FF. And currently invested in ESO. WoW i love the cartoony larger than life feel. FF i dig the aesthetic but the combat is a bit of a turn off. And ESO the world's are so immersive. I like all 3 but ESO currently has my interest. I'm a combat first kind of player.
And there is nothing wrong with that. Maybe when I go full time on you I will do eso tutorials on a new channel like I do ffxiv tutorials on this channel. I just love mmos in general 💜🥰💜 ffxiv being my #1
I'm not sure what to pick eso is only 20 dollars with no subscription fee ff14 is 40 plus a sub fee but ff14 seems more popular I just want a game to make me feel like I'm progressing alot and make me feel really powerful and show off.
Ummmm 🤨 either one doesn’t do that too much unless your doing older content. But I can personally say ffxiv is a great all around mmo and they even made the jobs a lot more fun. It’s far more complicated the eso as well which I like
@@BunBossFFXIV dang yeah the only thing that I found that has a good sense of progression where you can just start getting super strong and one shooting things is path of exile and some roblox games but I might give one of these games a try even tho they have level scaling I might enjoy them I might have to go with eso tho because idk if I could afford ff14 rn for 40 dollars plus a sub imma need a discount I also play on ps4.
Thanks for video I can’t decide which one to pick I’m a wow refugee. Lol. The 2.5 sec global on ff14 is what kills me im used to WOW so I think I might hate it.
There is a lot of global cool downs that you get later and the gameplay is really rapid for endgame content. There is nothing better than hitting your rotation and having full time with your skills then when you’re in Savage content (name of end game is savage, extremes, ultimates)
It’s also not 2.5 for all classes. You can definitely bring that down with melding(adding extra stats on gear) and the monk class is like 1.93 standard which is very fast! You might want to start with monk as I found that to be an extremely fast pace job out of all of Them
Played WoW up to Legion. Went to ESO and love it. I still have that deep nostalgia for WoW but I couldn't go back. ESO just has too many improvements and the combat alone is just too superior.
Yes when you make a new char, you have to do almost everything again that you had to do for other chars. It works this way in every single game ever created (with a few exceptions) and makes perfect sense. Suggesting to spend real cash on skipping past this process is really stupid.
@J Yea that type of thinking I think would kill wow. Same with ESO, since when you log in they push you to purchase things from their store and even skip the process. They stand behind their eso store pretty boldly. That is why I think FFXIV does so well.
You can only fast track a new character once you have already unlocked/completed the content on another one. And it's big money to skip everything on even one alt, so the vast majority of players just do it normally anyway. I don't actually find the Crown Store marketing to be that aggressive. You pretty much only see it in the launcher and on character load (which also gives you free and mostly useful stuff), which is more than fair imo. I think the fact they have the option to play without a sub makes up for it, and if you want you can prog on sub and use the monthly crowns to buy content you want access to permanently.
Some notes here: I don't consider ESO's crown store to be that aggressive. Just play SW:TOR and you know what aggressive really means where you have, as an unsubscribed player, to pay for hiding your head-piece, unlock more than 2 action-bars in a game that has more spells to it than probably WoW had in WOTLK (including downranks). For ESO+ members (players who pay the subscription fee) you get automatically assigned crown currency as well which you can spend for whatever you want. Some folks love to buy housing stuff with currency, others need to buy each and every house availablle (though some are only obtainable via real money to be fair) and yet other buy those gambling boxes. DLCs are automatically included for ESO+ members, while addons (so called chapters) are not and need to be bought by each one who wants to play that content. In regards to the combat system. ESOs combat system is an active combat system where you as the player need to train your muscle memories to get the rotation right. ESO does not really teach you how to properly engage in combat but the combat itself is based upon a priority system where a more important ability/skill will cancel a lower-priority thing: block and dodge-roll have the highest priority, the lowest priority has a light or heavy attack (short or long click on the left mouse button) and each skill you can use is in the middle. This can now be used to "interrupt" certain animations and therefore get out more skills in the same time. Internally ESO uses a 1 sec global cooldown (GCD) where you can't use an other skill. Though certain animations need way more time than this second and you can basically clip the rest of the animation and do other stuff. This is usually summarized as animation canceling. So in a typical rotation you basically start with a light/heavy attack and when it is about to go off, you hit your skill. This will look as if you only do one thing but you actually do two things at the same time, the light/heavy attack and your ability. You need to basically train your muscles to do optimally do a light attack before each ability you use, even the bar swap and use the animation canceling of block/dodge roll/bar swap on long-animations. The whole dance is summarized than as light/heavy attack weaving and it contributes to your damage significantly. Especially light attack weaving is very important as plenty of buffs you obtain depend on proper light attack weaving. Especially when you are into PvP this is a thing you need to master! I have seen magica players who were beasts on their toons though if they had to swap to stamina-characters they were just average as the timing didn't work out. The same hold true also for stamina players who switched to magica. Loosly speaking, you need to train the rotation for each class and role individually. Therefore I consider the combat system in ESO much more player-skill based than typical MMOs have. What ESO does on top of it pretty good (most of the time) is the visualization of certain boss abilities. As a tank you can clearly read them and make proper call outs for the rest of the raid. Unfortunately often times the server performance in PvP but to some degree also in PvE isn't optimal. I quit ESO i.e. because of that. As a tank it was vital to read the next boss abilities and due to server lag I got hit often times before the animation actually started. In high-end raiding this usually means insta-death as those abilities crush you if you aren't blocking them. And the meta for tanks and healers in ESO is also quite different to any other MMO I played thus far that you are more or less supporters for DPS, hence you can't stand in block all the time. As a tank I was constantly responsible for plenty of debuffs on the boss or throwing orbs DDs could use to replenish their resources and therefore I was constantly doing other things in between boss attacks which forced me to drop the block. Zenimax mentioned that they wanted to improve the server performance notably, but at the time I quit (almost 2 years ago) the situation even got worse, not sure if they actually managed to fix those issues.
Very thorough! I couldn’t include a lot of this or the video would be an hour long if I wanted to! But this is great for players want a little more information about eso systems! Thank you!
That made me audibly laugh out loud! That works out for some people who just want to do that. That is why both of these games are so great since you really do not have to craft if you do not want to!
After having played both for three years each here is my honest opinion: FFXIV has a better main story line and characters have much more depth. Also raids are more challenging and engaging. Also the social aspect of the game is on a different level, people like clubbing and partying and the community is really socially active. Also for those into fishing like me FFXIV is much better for that. On the other hand ESO excels in the open world aspect of the game. You can go do some side quests and in your way you can gather some nodes, open chests and get some good loot you can use or sale for good money if you are lucky and you can find world bosses to have a nice fight while there is really no reason to do this in FFXIV even with gathering being a mini game the thing is specific materials spawn at specific locations so it's more like a task in the end. Also even though raiding is better in FFXIV running dungeons is better and more engaging in ESO. So FFXIV is a better RPG game with better and more challenging raiding. ESO is a better open word game with better and more challenging dungeons.
ESO is so good. The PvP has to be one of the greatest I've seen in any game I've ever played. Cyrodiil immerses you in what truly feels like an actual war among three different alliances. The strategy, risk, and reward make it so intense.
tried both, and I've hated the graphics and gampleay of ffXIV compared to teso... if not for its musics, i wouldn't recommencd the game I think. (Buf common' " hard to miss" is such a nice them)
The graphics have gotten better and they released 4K mode for menu and stuff. I have a decent enough computer and feel the graphics are a lot better and I use the Nividia filters to even make It better! But I get what you mean
I take back what i said. Started FFXIV months ago and I’m near 300 hours starting Endwalker and the story and gameplay is so good. I honestly think FFXIV is a lot better, the only thing ESO has an advantage over FFXIV is it’s free to play and has better PVP. Edit 1. What got me hooked was Shadowbringers since then I couldn’t stop playing.
Both are good games, the combat in FFXIV is so repetitive and slow with cooldowns I literally have dozed off as a WHM. I’m a sucker for cosmetics in a game to be immersed. While there is quite a lot of cosmetics, it’s just not my style. For me, those two points are what ultimately has lost me on it. The worlds and music in FF are fantastic.
I am Playing ESO for a time now, and yesterday I started FF14, I AM also liking, even with differences I like Both Sagas Lore too, I grown up Playing FF games, and I see references of FF in eberywhere In ESO I try to make "Eastter Eggs" for many games that I like, like FF, and now I'll do It in FF 14 too
I don't want to do the story to unlock things. Seems dumb to me. I would rather just grind to 80. As for ESO and Story who cares if it makes sense or not. I don't play MMO's for story. ESO is not SKyrim
I played eso for about 5 years and loved it, Ive played ffxiv for about 400 hours now and while the dungeons and story are amazing i cant help the feeling that there really is nothing unique about my experience compared to anyone elses in the game. Its an odd feeling.
No if you already have the game up to the expansion then you can just pay the membership. You will have to purchase shadowbringers if you want to play that expansion 💕
They most definitely need an upgrade. I thought they were upgrading there servers soon or they already did? I thought they were separating them out or still just one big sever?
@@BunBossFFXIV iirc they did a server update a couple months back, although they really need that graphics update. FF14’s graphics are the main reason I chose that over ESO
@@Velvet_Crowe yea I can see that. Eso needs a really big overhaul of main system with how much players they have. Idk how they keep everyone on one server
My take on both games from a long time final fantasy and elder Scrolls fan. COMBAT- ESO is action based with that aside aside ffxiv has a better comba system imo. ESO has no cool downs so you get people spamming the same skill over and over with no mind and no rotation. Your bar is literally 5/10 buffs 1/10 debuffs 2/10 heals 2/10 spammables. You literally just constantly refresh buffs and debuffs and then spam the same skills to deal damage or heal. It's so bad and boring. Then you got idiots who just spam skills like snipe from a distance or jabs close ranged. Ffxiv allowing a combo and cooldown system gives a more complex combat system where you have to actually be good at it not just mindlessly spam. Yes in eso you can block and dodgeroll which adds to the immersion but it just eats up your resources and makes cc kind of pointless besides draining stamina. Ffxiv wins in this category. Crafting- . Eso has better crafting system. It is superior in every way. You can craft an armor in sooo many styles and dye its color. You can mix and match and you can add traits to your armor. Giving you more defense or increasing your armor enchantment for example. You can research to learn traits, deconstruct gear to get materials or just farm them in the world like any other mmo. It's very expansive and allows for a great number of builds. ESO wins in this category. Story- I enjoyed ESO much more because it was all voiced and acted out in front of you whilst ffxiv is mostly text based with cut scenes. That does change once you get into the latest dlcs in ffxiv however. The downside is ESO treats all your characters individually. Any achievement of what you've done on your main is not recognized on your alt. You don't carry over the quest completion, title or achievement. For me that makes it hard to quit my main who i spent sooo long making into a master crafter and achievement whore. I constantly go back to my magdk due to that. Ffxiv you can literally do everything on one toon. There's no need to make another like eso. You can play any class and do any quest. Eso contradicts it's own story with its dlc. Making the whole factions aspect of the game along with pvp dumb. It makes no sense. The factions themselves make no sense. The ffxiv dlcs last MUCH longer and adds more. The dlc from eso are short and add small things. The main story can literally be done in 1 or 2 days. The whole map can be completed in under a week. I'm a big story person and for mainly that reason i give story to ffxiv. Overall I think ffxiv is better but I mostly play eso because i like my characters to have a beard.
It sure does require good rotation! I just feel this is not enough dps punishment for those who spam. Overall ffxiv has a far more punishing dps loss if you don’t do the rotation
ESOs combat is what keeps me coming back. It's one of the few mmos that have a decent skill ceiling and being able to swap skills around is really nice. I can see why some people don't like it as it is a bit unconventional but ffxivs combat is pretty idiot proof.
i agree wholeheartedly about your point with the combat. That was one of the main things that turned me off from ESO and made me switch over to ff14. The ESO combat just didnt feel reactive enough, like i dont care about what my enemy does as long as i throw down my debuff and spam my main spammable. Its so different from playing as a healer in an ff14 dungeon i did today, where I had to react to enemies now using poison, and I had to focus using Esuna instead of cure. Much better combat design in ff14, where you have to focus on adapting your gameplan
I mean the class you have chosen is capable of playing multiple roles in eso. The worst part of ESO is light attack weaving. The graphics and player models are really killing me with ff14. It's funny, when I first played ESO I hated the lack of tab targeting. Now I'm trying ff14 and struggling with tab targeting.
Over 4 years of top level eso and the top raid community drove me from the game due to just how vile and drama fueled it was.... ff14 has been a joy they whole time
I'm a eso veteran player and in all onesty I think u lost some pieces along the way for example bash weaving is really important, u haven't shown a rotation, and it's not advised to focus on jabs on magplar, it works a million times better on stamplar, I mean u could have said so much more and interesting stuff, like the bars mechanic where u put dots and buffs on back and main damage in front, shame but overall it's a good guide for beginners
Thank you for honest reply, there was only so much I could say as the video would only have gotten longer and longer 🥲 hopefully it’s enough though to get people interested and playing either mmo :)
but this isn't a video for beginners. The title specifically states differences between the two games. New players interested can easily go watch skinny cheeks videos for rotations and builds
ESO world is bland or dull and too mi h mished together while FF14 looks lish and gorgeous and I wanna explore vs ESO I feel like puking watching the world
Wait a second, what do you mean ESO is about spamming a single skill the entire game? Is that all there is to it? No more depth than that? No challenge?
Well let me answer your first question, kinda yes. You have access to 10 total skills all together. Your back bar and front bar. You have dots or damage or times, maybe a heal and some aoe attacks but every class always has one main spammable skill that you rely on. Templar being puncturing sweep. So once you put all of your dots and heals and maybe one shield you go back to spamming that one skills. Ffxiv on the other hand has access to 32 skills and it’s a rotation of these skills that give you an overall dps. I don’t find eso combat system challenging at all.
@@BunBossFFXIV This is only half true if you haven't learned the ins and outs of the damage dealer role in ESO. In order to deal damage effectively you must learn how to keep your DOTs up efficiently while leveraging your spammable phases (if applicable depends on build and the strength of your particular damage type that your class excels in) while properly weaving your light attacks into your class damaging skills. Eso also takes advantage of animation canceling light attacks in order to squeeze more damage out of a rotation by ensuring you fire a LA + Skill every second. While doing this you have to take in to account your position, the position of your enemies and the tanks and healers positions as well. To me the combat is much more engaging in eso because it boils down to more than just nailing your rotation perfectly...you also have to worry about fight mechanics and good positioning in order to be an effective dps. Also you must know which boss mechanics can be interrupted (EVERYBODY needs to interrupt NOT just the Tank) which mechanics are a one shot kils,l and which you can block or dodge roll through. If all your doing is using your class spammable, your not playing dps correctly in eso. - Dps/Healer from ESO
@@jonbee5782 Hello John, I understand your points and as this is entirely subjective a validate on how you feel. My points are for me and no one else, just giving my perspective. I would say that both games are not just about rotation but knowing mechanics and good positioning. For me though, eso is far easier to do a spammable skill and make the game playable with out worrying about anything else, as well as there is not set guide or deep meaning to the rotations as you only have access to 10 skills, 8 regular 2 ultimate with many not even utilizing the bar swap at all in some cases. FFXIV has a harsher punishment and emphasizes more on learning rotation that can use up to 32 skills with in a single job. for 16 different jobs instead of 8. There is just more work and effort put into the battle system, which we can see many times over between the two mmos. Although I would never dream to discount how you feel about it and encourage everyone to play both and make that decision for themselves :D
@@jimbobaggins8259 Right, alot of is casual for most players, as in my experience not too many people did the veteran versions of some of the later dungeons. I mean I was able to and played alot of those to get those guaranteed head pieces . pheww.
Which one do you play the most? FFXIV or ESO?

I have 6k+ hours in FFXIV and still have so much to do. But I’ve always wanted to get into ESO. Trying again now. Thanks for the video.
@@jamvng do it! It’s perfect timing too since we are in a little lul before the expansion
Missed the biggest difference! ESO is all voiced story!! The only mmo ever to have voiced quest and voiced side quest ! Big game changer!!!!!!
Actually that would have been such a good thing to add!!! So true! FFXIV is getting better with the expansions but ESO is voiced!
Swtor is also fully voice acted too
So does GW2.. GW2 is better coz even ur char has voice
ESO has also a solid cast too
All of rhose get more voiceover, but which has a better story? 😂
I played both for pretty long time and in my opinion, when I play ffxiv, I'm immersed in a story, while when I play eso, I'm immersed in a world.
Oooo that is a cool difference! I mean I can kinda see what you mean by that! The maps in eso are very deep in story and lore and background
Eso os terrible Nickle and dime you to squeeze every last dollar they can... eso is basically a gotcha game except you have to buy it to play. Rip off.
@@gamerelated8985 Well, I don't spend more than 20 dollars on eso each year, which is totally acceptable for me. But to each his own.
ive tried both and i just couldnt get into the world building and dialogue of final fantasy. i was constantly skipping through cutscenes and conversations. elder scroll on the other hand has me sitting through all dialogue reading it thoroughly and able to picture everything theyre saying in my mind. thats what pushes it as the winner to me personally
Example
Being you could be a dps and queue as a healer.
Once I get to 1000 subs I want to do more content on eso and other mmos
Note on ESO crafting timeline. You can always purchase (in game, guild traders or ESO store) instant research scrolls that have 1 day cool downs. So 30 days can be completed in 15. You can also get instant research scrolls from the Daily Rewards that have no cool downs you can use in addition to the in game purchased type.
This right here! I did that so much in order to speed up that research timer!
Yes yes yes! Loving this positive feedback and support! Well if you happen to start on crystal

Why I love FFXIV more (although I’ve played Skyrim for ungodly amount of time in the past):
1.) Community: It’s unlike any other MMO I’ve played before people are so friendly, friendly in fact that I made friends just by goofing off and dancing around in the three main cities with barely any interactions. 😆🤣
2.) Story: We have some moments in the main story that gave me goosebumps and nearly brought me to tears and also some funny moments not to mention the soundtracks compliments it.
Thats your first mistake, comparing ESO to Skyrim.
Skyrim not equal to eso
This didn’t help (video was great) it just showed me there’s more to consider than I realised lmao.
play ffxiv! no but seriously both are super fun!
get past all the 2.0 content for FF14, and the chose will be easy
👏👏👏👏☺️
Xbox...ESO champion level 759 played all the storylines
PC ...ESO...champion level 742...never played one storyline or side quest at all
So ESO...killing enemies is the only way you need to level

@@twrestlinga1 100% different mindset! Both games are great just need to approach them differently
@@BunBossFFXIV Yep it's kind of like the differences between doing the normal offline games. Elder Scrolls let's do whatever where as Final Fantasy is more structured and has a set layout for progression. Both are great but very different approaches.
@@BunBossFFXIV 👍 agreed
EAlder scrolls online!! 🤣🤣 love it
@@BunBossFFXIV Yeah!
I hear about guild wars all the time! I really should check it out! Thanks for the recommendation 🥰
With in the past like three weeks or so I have got so deep into FF14 and love it.
Oh yes there are plenty out there! The story is fantastic!
After over a decade of WoW, I moved to Ff14, but ultimately ended up on ESO. Having more consistent content additions, as well as actual pvp helps a lot to keep you busy.
If you're a WoW player looking for a new game, I'd definitely suggest trying ESO.
I definitely agree that ESO and FFXIV are leagues ahead of wow
For someone who plays both games, I didn't really have to watch your video, but I did! And let me says, great content dude!
I mainly play FFXIV for endcontent, just like i did with Wow. For ESO, its the story. I'm just having a hard time following in the story in FFXIV, and I do think its done better in ESO
Thank you for the kind words!
when i played ff this is how it went. beat the story. do dailies now to grind classes and mounts and armors and weapons.
so far in eso im getting i dont have to beat the story to unlock all dungeons trials and raids (idk if they have that in eso i know they have dungeons maybe their called something else or have something else)
and instead of grinding multiple classes i stick to one character i made (for now until max)
so yeah my main question is what are eso's side content to do daily for exp (in ff its duty roulette''s dungeons trials and raids) (extreme versions to unlock weapons mounts armors)
It is pretty much the same. Just collecting things and achievements and doing the DLC content which they have alot of
Hey for ESO, you don’t need to purchase anything to unlock maps for leveling shards. The game allows addons, and they’re pretty straight forward to use! Also you can earn dlc just by grinding the game!
Can you? How do you earn dlc by grinding?
@@BunBossFFXIV sorry maybe I gave some misinformation. You are able to buy crowns from people in game with your own gold. People will sell maybe 1crown for 300 gold

As someone who has playing eso for years i can say Eso has 6 classes but there many 7 variations for each class which are different but with hundreds of micro variations. Example- mag Templar, stam Templar, healer Templar, tank Templar, pvp mag Templar, pvp stam Templar, then a hybrid Templar.
💜💜💜 yea I agree and there are tons of fun ways to go about playing ESO with the variations.
💜💜💜😂
Both are good games with it's unique mechanics. I personally prefer Eso. Ff14 has many stuff I like too especially it's story and the fact that you level up all classes if you want avoiding the process of backtracking and playing the whole game again just for 1 class.
I like both a lot but ffxiv takes the cake for me
Regarding Classes in ESO: they're not that important.
Yes exactly! Sorry that you can’t play 😩
I hate the weaving.
Nice video. I'm playing both right now and this was a very informative video. Thank you!
Your welcome! There are many more differences and similarities but I wanted to share so people can get an overview of each!
Bro, you must play main story with every character for skill points. Quests are the biggest chunk of this points.
Hey! Really like your voice it’s very warm and welcoming to the content, and not boring!
Keep it up ❤
Thank you🥰
I came from ESO since launch and ever since last August I’ve never gone back to it since starting FFXIV 🤷🏼♂️
Why did you end up staying with Final Fantasy 14? What were the differences?
ESO is free right now. I'm trying it out, the simplicity sold me. Great video and thank you.
The simplicity is such a great thing with ESO and it’s so much fun! Glad your enjoying it!
Which 1 is most grindy?
Which 1 has more captivating story?
I played eso to about champion level 233.
End game really feels like just gear grinding..
Do you still play?
What i hate about FF14 is the cost. Like 70€ for the full game is fine, fantastic even, but having to pay 12€ a month is crazy. I get that there is server costs and whatever but ESO don’t require a monthly subscribtion so ion get what the problem is with all other MMO games
I think what I i like about eso over ff14 is leveling I beat the story its mostly emoting for npc and fetch quest but cool boss fights but getting 2 levels in eso is so painful on eso I can power level through killing on ff14 I cant cause cool down limits kill speed and you need people to level efficiently for that reason your leveling options are fates: random encounters
Daily dungeon: gives a decent amount but only once a day
Side quest: even high level quest give low amounts of exp apart from leveling loved the world and enemies
Another annoying thing was my stats being weakened or locked based on level of the dungeon or event removes the sense of progression. Also and it cost 10-20 dollars to change to a race of a character you played 60 dollars for in a dlc no free race change
After playing FF14 which allows you to play all jobs on one character. It's hard to play other MMOs
I know right haha
My issue stopping me from getting into FF14 is I don't know anything about the world of FF. I'm not invested into the world and lore and characters and monsters. Just zero attachment.
But ESO, man, I love that game world. I've watched hour long lore videos on the lore of Tamriel. And when I see something in game it only depends my connection to the game. It's hard to break away from that.
Keep in mind I'm completely new to eso. Like maybe 30 days into the game very casually. But I just don't know how to convince myself to try FF14.
Clearly biased toward FF14, but that's understandable
ESO story dont Have "future" or Past exactly, they leave a little open to that, and makes Sense, but in some cases yes, makes a little confuse
Yea absolutely! It can be confusing!

Thats not true at all, 97% of things in the crown store is available in game? Not even close to true at all.
@@tonytynebridge510 yeah dlc alone is over 97% xd
this isn’t true at all lmao, pretty sure there’s multiple mounts and houses in the store you can’t get with in game currency
Thank you so much! I am really glad to hear that! I totally agree with you it’s very punishing
I've played the hell out of FFXIV and I'm looking to trying ESO, simply because I love the world of the Elder Scrolls.
It's what you call a 1 character system? No I believe that's what square Enix called it in 2011 when yhe game launched before you played it...
@Too Dank oh gosh absolutely not, I love spending money so I had eso plus spent extra money haha 😅😅
The bugs in eso are so incredibly infuriating. One of the reasons I finally left…
I just love mmos in general 💜🥰💜 ffxiv being my #1
@@BunBossFFXIV you cant go wrong with any of them. Wish i had to time to invest in them all.
I love them both and bought the blackwood expac for ESO, I have not bought Endwalker yet and tend to only sub to one mmo at a time.
for real though. MMOs are so time intensive its so hard to play multiple unless that is what you do for a living lol. My dream :D
You might want to start with monk as I found that to be an extremely fast pace job out of all of
Them
Played WoW up to Legion. Went to ESO and love it. I still have that deep nostalgia for WoW but I couldn't go back. ESO just has too many improvements and the combat alone is just too superior.
If you like pvp ESO is the one final fantasy is an amazing game but pvp is absolute bad sorry if i sound a bit harsh
Yes when you make a new char, you have to do almost everything again that you had to do for other chars.
It works this way in every single game ever created (with a few exceptions) and makes perfect sense.
Suggesting to spend real cash on skipping past this process is really stupid.
I understand your point. If someone has it in their budget to spend that cash to speed up the process on an alt character then more power to them. 💜
Just the video I was looking for. Thank you!
Your welcome! Glad to help out!
Thank you!
God I hate crafting. Ya know those birds that steel other birds nests? Yeah that's my playstyle in an mmo, lols
That made me audibly laugh out loud! That works out for some people who just want to do that. That is why both of these games are so great since you really do not have to craft if you do not want to!
I find it funny that Microsoft owns both ESO and WOW, and Sony honestly got... no MMO they own...
After having played both for three years each here is my honest opinion:
FFXIV has a better main story line and characters have much more depth.
Thanks for making this video mate, super helpful! and I am going for ESO!
Good luck and have fun! Have fun choosing the class! 💜
I love ffxiv cuz of drk the edge lord and samurai so much fun I played eso but it was way more confusing than ffxiv for me anyway
Yes samurai! Such a fun class to play!
ESO has expansions 4 times a year so it's a little less exciting BUT there is always new stuff to do.
That is true but ffxiv has been around for so long there is a never ending amount of things to do
And which one is more easy to start a mmo game ???
Honestly not to be bias but ffxiv. It’s just more streamlined then eso. My personal opinion
ESO is so good. The PvP has to be one of the greatest I've seen in any game I've ever played. Cyrodiil immerses you in what truly feels like an actual war among three different alliances. The strategy, risk, and reward make it so intense.
I did the love the pvp aspect so much! It was so one of my favorite things to do in eso
Shame Cyrodill is flat out broken and unplayable most of the time
tried both, and I've hated the graphics and gampleay of ffXIV compared to teso... if not for its musics, i wouldn't recommencd the game I think. (Buf common' " hard to miss" is such a nice them)
The graphics have gotten better and they released 4K mode for menu and stuff. I have a decent enough computer and feel the graphics are a lot better and I use the Nividia filters to even make
It better! But I get what you mean
I think that you missed big and important part of the games for some people which is pvp.
Not missed, but can only add so much! Maybe I'll do a part two of this video!
Really nice video. Very well done. Keep up the good work!
Thanks buddy!
Great vid! Been a Final Fantasy fan for a while
It’s the best game ever! 🥰
Played both games. I think ESO is better
Thats cool, eso is pretty fun!
💚💙💜
If they somehow put gw2 on console, it would win for me hands down
I am Playing ESO for a time now, and yesterday I started FF14, I AM also liking, even with differences
I like Both Sagas Lore too, I grown up Playing FF games, and I see references of FF in eberywhere
In ESO I try to make "Eastter Eggs" for many games that I like, like FF, and now I'll do It in FF 14 too
Have fun!!! They both are great games! 💜
I can actually see this perspective that you are saying.
They say final fantasy 14 isnt a regular MMORPG its a single player RPG on a MMO Server
I was immersed in ff14 as a delivery woman
You've earned my sub!
As thank you! Glad to have you here!
I want to try these two games. But do I have to purchase the Shadowbringers or something even if I already paid for the game?
No if you already have the game up to the expansion then you can just pay the membership. You will have to purchase shadowbringers if you want to play that expansion 💕

Great comparison Stefan. Thank you!

Eso is da best MMO I have ever played so far , they only need to upgrade there game engine and make the game more optimized and stable
COMBAT-
ESO is action based with that aside aside ffxiv has a better comba system imo.
Crafting-
Story-
I enjoyed ESO much more because it was all voiced and acted out in front of you whilst ffxiv is mostly text based with cut scenes.
💜
Was hoping for some endgame differences
Sorry just structural differences in the game, but I am sure there are videos out there on the end game differences
I agree with the light attack weaving

nice vid. but regarding endgame?
Over 4 years of top level eso and the top raid community drove me from the game due to just how vile and drama fueled it was.... ff14 has been a joy they whole time
🙌 this right here!
all i have to say is i've never seen an egirl post their eso character, unlike ff14.

Thank you
Wait a second, what do you mean ESO is about spamming a single skill the entire game?
@@BunBossFFXIV feels like most of these critiques for eso combat that you have made are only valid for the casual content e.g normal dungeons
@@jimbobaggins8259 Right, alot of is casual for most players, as in my experience not too many people did the veteran versions of some of the later dungeons. I mean I was able to and played alot of those to get those guaranteed head pieces . pheww.
